Shalimar Breathless DK, Desert Vista Dyeworks, Cascade and More!

Desert-Vista-Dyeworks-dia-de-los-muertosGuess what it’s doing again here? SNOWING! What a blustery day. I am kind of hoping that this is the last one. (Me. The snow-loving-person. Now done with it this season. Bring on the sunshine and warmer days.) Despite the snow and cold, we have plenty of fun things to warm you up in tonight’s Monday Update! Just up:

Desert Vista Dyeworks – we have a new indie dyer for you! Susan does amazing work and we are so happy to share it with you. You’ll find it in 12 multi-colors and 16 different self-striping colors. Shown here in the Dia de los Muertos colorway in a sock that Loopy Office Manager Lynn knit up.

Cascade – we’ve re-stocked 220, 220 Superwash, Heritage Sock, Heritage Silk, Eco Alpaca, Ultra Pima, Ultra Pima Fine, and Fixation (just in time to start in on some summer socks). The bins and shelves are overflowing with colors!

shalimar-breathless-dk-AsilomarShalimar Breathless DK – you’re heard me say (often, I know) that Shalimar Breathless is one of my very favorite fingering weight yarns. Now I’m happy to tell you that we can offer it to you in a DK weight as well! Same gorgeous colors, same wonderful feel, same beautiful fabric knit up – just a bit heavier. Perfect for warmer shawls and of course you should make a sweater out of it, too. 🙂 Shown here in Asilomar.

Christmas at Downton – we’re re-stocked this very popular colorway from Lorna’s Laces again. We have it for you in Shepherd Sport, Shepherd Worsted, Shepherd Sock, Solemate, and Sportmate. (Do we really have to wait until next January for the next season of Downton??)

knitter's-prideKnitter’s Pride Needles and Addi needles were re-stocked a few days ago, in case you’ve been waiting for a certain size.

Wooden Yarn Caddies – George also brought down more small and large yarn caddies, in time for our Spring Fling this past weekend, so those are up on the website as well. We have them in Ash, Cherry, Oak, Walnut and Red Cedar in the large size, and Cherry, Oak, Walnut and Red Cedar in the small size.

Enjoy the new stuff and we’ll get your orders packed up and shipped off asap!

Wacky Wednesday

snow2It’s a busy week here, with 130+ people flying in for our annual Spring Fling Retreat. (Well, annual except that we took last year off, since we had just moved to Colorado and were still finding our way around here!) Of course since it’s April and it’s Colorado, we spiced things up a little by getting 20+ inches of snow in the past 48 hours. It’s really beautiful out there, and we definitely need the moisture. deck2Here’s a picture of our yard at 6:30 am yesterday morning. Those poor trees are heavy laden! WH went out there and knocked some snow off after this photo. We swept off the deck once yesterday, and it filled right back up. Fortunately, it’s supposed to warm up tomorrow, and the snow will start melting quickly. But we’re enjoying it while it lasts.

I won’t be able to blog on Friday, but I’ll be back with you next week with a Fling report and photos, as well as a chance for you to win one of our Spring Fling Goodie Bags!

Do You Live Nearby? Cool Classes for You!

Do you live near Fort Collins? Would you like to get in on some great classes? We just added our Summer Class Schedule to the website and we’d love to have you join us! We have classes going for beginners (Knitting, Crochet, Weaving, Spinning), and for more experienced knitters (Colorwork in hats and stockings, Double Knitting, Crochet Lace, and Tunisian Crochet). We also have Parent/Child classes, so if you have been wanting to learn with one of your kids, this is a great way to do it.

susan-b-anderson-classesIn addition to the regular class offering, we also have an opportunity for you to get in on some instructors that we are bringing in for our Spring Fling. The retreat is completely full, but we have a few extra class spots if you’re interested in joining us for some awesome classes.

Susan B Anderson is teaching her Fair Isle Hat Design class here at The Loopy Ewe on Wednesday evening, April 17th. The class will run from 6:30 – 9:30 pm, and you will be learning how to do two-handed fair-isle, while creating your own hat with personalized colors and stitch patterns.  Susan is the author of the popular Itty Bitty book series, as well as a former author of the Spud and Chloe blog. This is the first time we’ve had Susan as one of our Spring Fling instructors and we’re very excited that she’s coming!

wendy-johnson-classesWendy Johnson is the author of the popular Wendy Knits blog and is the author of these great sock pattern books, as well as her lace pattern book (for all knitting levels). She has been an instructor at our Spring Flings several times and is always a popular teacher for us. She will be teaching her Sideways Lace Scarf and Shawl Design Class on Saturday morning, April 20, from 9 am – noon at The Embassy Suites, Loveland. She has designed numerous individual patterns in addition to her books, and says she has more pattern ideas than she’ll ever had time to write up. Come learn a great formula for designing your own patterns!

jc-briar-classesJC Briar is back to teach at her second Spring Fling, because of the outstanding reviews she received at her first Fling with us! (Things like, “She’s the best teacher I’ve ever had!” and “She makes things to easy to understand.”) She is the author of my favorite book about knitting from charts (Charts Made Simple), as well as having designed many individual patterns. She’s teaching her popular Cast-On Cornucopia class on Saturday afternoon, April 20 at The Embassy Suites in Loveland. If you find yourself using the same cast-ons over and over, get in on her class to liven things up a bit.

You can click on this link to sign up for these special classes, as well as our regular classes scheduled for this summer. You will also find the link on the homepage in the blue box under “In-Store Classes”. We hope to see you here soon!

Biscotte & Cie, Stonehedge, Jordana Paige, and More!

TheLoopyEwe BiscotteDid any of you get snow yesterday like we did? We had about 12″ of that beautiful stuff at our house. It was a perfect knitting day! I took some pictures that I’ll post on Wednesday’s blog. Monday blogs are all about new stuff going up, and we have some fun things tonight! Just up:

Biscotte & Cie – not only do we have lots of pretty self-striping colors in their sock yarn, but we also added in some colors and skeins of their wosted weight self-striping yarn, too! The sock/fingering weight is great for socks and things like the Sockhead hat (here’s the one that I made with Biscotte & Cie – so fun), mitts, gloves, and scarves. The worsted weight is great for those same things, only it knits up faster and is bulkier. Shown here – the worsted weight hat I made last week in the A Moi le Coco colorway, after this order came in. I just couldn’t help balling up a skein and trying it out.

Stonehedge Fibers – we’ve re-stocked all of the colors of Shepherd’s Wool. This yarn is popular for sweater and vest knitting, as it’s very soft and comes in great colors. Of course it also works well for scarves, hats and mittens, as well as colorwork.

elvisSoakboxes – these make great gifts, but they’re also nice to gift to yourself. In each box you get Soak Wash, Soak Handmaid Lotion, a skein of Lorna’s Laces, matching nail polish, and a pattern to make a cute pair of fingerless mitts. We have re-stocked the ones we were out of, and added a new one: Elvis Paisley. This features the new Yuzu scent. (Shown here in Elvis.)

Soak Wash – you can also find the new Yuzu scent available seperately as a wash or a lotion. Yuzu combines tart citrus and crushed eucalyptus for a refreshing scent.

Soak Heel – Heel has been re-stocked in Cucumber, Spearmint and Scentless. This is the best stuff for your feet. Seriously, if you haven’t tried it, try some. I use it every day. (And if you’re giving socks as a gift, it’s nice to include a tub of this with the socks. The label on the container says “For feet worthy of hand-knit socks.” It’s a good way to remind the recipient that hand-knit socks are special!)

HiyaHiya Notions – we have re-stocked the Knitter’s Safety pins (I love these), cable needles, and point protectors. We’ve also added in Panda Pewter Stitch Markers, Socknitters Stitch Markers, and Panda Point Protectors.

HiyaHiya Needles – re-stocked.

jordana tealJordana Paige – the new Cezanne bags are in. We have them in Stone Grey, Bordeaux, Mediterranean Teal, and Orange Poppy. You should have seen all of us standing in the stockroom when they came in. We all wanted one and had a hard time picking which color we wanted. We  had quite the conversation. They are all beautiful. I still haven’t made my final decision on color. (Shown here in the Mediterranean Teal color.) You can get a peek into part of the inside on our website.

Thanks for alllll of your comments on the Spring Fling giveaway! I am so glad that this was based on a random drawing from all of the entries, because if I had had to pick a “most deserving” winner, I would not be able to do it. I wish I could give spots to all of you. We ran the randomizer this afternoon, and the winner is: Margaret from AL, who says she’d like to bring her best knitting buddy Amy with her.
