Cascade, HiyaHiya, Knitter’s Pride, and Moda Fabrics

Cascade 220 The Loopy EweHappy Columbus Day to those of you in the U.S.! (We were out of the shop today, since it’s a No Mail Monday. I worked on …. a sweater! Can you believe it? That’s all I’m going to say about it until it is finished. And it will get finished.) Happy Thanksgiving Weekend to those of you in Canada! Happy Monday to everyone else! 🙂 We added new things to the website tonight. Just up:

Cascade 220 and 220 Superwash – this worsted weight is perfect for quick holiday gifts, since it knits up fast and beautiful. The regular 220 can also be used for felting, so it makes great bags and slippers. The 220 Superwash is especially nice for kids clothes and blankets, since you can toss it in the washer and dryer when you need to. (Shown here in Cherry, 2426.)

Cascade Fixation – this DK weight yarn is 98 % cotton and 2% elastic, so it’s perfect to use for people who don’t tolerate wool. The yarn has a slight “give” to it, so even though there are only 100 yards in a ball, I made a women’s size 11 sock out of one ball. The slight stretch makes the yarn go further!

Cascade Heritage Silk The Loopy EweCascade Heritage Sock and Heritage Silk – fingering weight yarn, perfect for socks and shawls. The regular Sock is 75% Superwash Merino and 25% nylon, while the Silk is 85% Superwash Merino and 15% Silk, which adds a slight sheen to the yarn. (Shown here in Heritage Silk, Aqua Foam, 5630).

Cascade Ultra Pima – this is one of our most popular cotton lines. The DK weight is 100% pima cotton, so it’s soft and gorgeous to work with. Great for sweaters and tank tops that are a bit cooler than all wool blends.

HiyaHiya – sharp, steel and bamboo needles re-stocked, as well as Kitty Snips, Puppy Snips, and Knitter’s Safety Pins.

Knitter’s Pride – DPN’s and Circulars re-stocked.

French General The Loopy EweModa Fabric – French General Josephine, which includes prints in reds, browns, and creams in a variety of prints and color variations. Here’s a shop sample that we’re working on out of the French General line. (No bindings or quilting yet, but isn’t the piecing pretty?) We used the Blue and Gray Trail pattern out of this line of patterns, which works so well with the reproduction-type fabric. (Although I also think those patterns would be really fun in current fabric prints as well!).

Moda Scrumptious The Loopy EweModa Fabric – Scrumptious, which includes prints in limes, aquas, creams and mixes. These are such happy, fun colors, and they’d work equally well for garments as well as quilts. Here are just a few of the bolts we added in this line.

Have fun shopping and we’ll be in tomorrow to get all of your orders packed up and on their way!

Lorna’s Laces, Addi Sock Rockets, GoKnit Bags and More!

Bamboo-Pop-cotton-yarn-bamboo yarnWe have plenty of fun new things for you to try in tonight’s Monday Update! We just added in:

Addi Sock Rockets – these needles were developed just for sock knitters. They come with extra pointy tips that are plated with the same shiny nickel that gives the classic Add Turbo its incomparable zip! Available in three different circular needle lengths – 24″, 32″ and 40″ and sizes 0 (2.0 mm) – 3 (3.25 mm).

Bamboo Pop – a new sportweight line that is 50% bamboo and 50% cotton, perfect for summer/lightweight knits, kid knits, and knits for people who are allergic to wool. Each skein comes 292 yards to the ball. Do you need some pattern ideas? Try the Sarah Top, Spring Break Trapeze Tank, Cotton Bam Boo Kudzu Shawlette, Looped Loop, or Uhura.

Lorna’s Laces – we have the new summer colors in several of the different bases, as well as re-stocks in Shepherd Sock and Pearl, and new colors in Haymarket.

Soak-gift-knitting-grape-gatsbySoak – a new kit from Soak! This one comes with an exclusively dyed skein of sock yarn from Lorna’s Laces, a great sock pattern designed by Fiona Ellis, a bottle of nail polish for your toes, a tub of Heel Creme in the Peppermint scent, and a small bottle of Soak for washing your handknits. The Grape kit is now available, and they have two more planned in the coming weeks (which we also have on order.)

Knowknits – a re-stock of the popular GoKnit project bags in all sizes and colors. The small size is perfect for socks and hats on the go. The medium size works well for shawls, stoles, scarves, and kids projects. The large size is for sweaters, blankets and afghans, or multiple projects. The drawstring close on the top insures that everything stays tucked inside, safe and sound!

Malabrigo – re-stocks on the Sock fingering weight base. We love the colors, and they are great for socks, but also very popular for one-skein shawls. You might try: Damson, Abyssal, Light and Up, Falling Water Scarf, or Scylla Socks.

Saki-Bamboo-yarn-self-stripingSaki Bamboo – a self-striping fingering weight yarn that is made up of 50% Superwash Merino, 25% Bamboo, and 25% Nylon. The colors are fun, the bamboo gives the yarn a slight bit of sheen or liveliness, and the nylon adds extra strength for socks. You’ll have fun knitting this up!

Knitter’s Pride – all needles re-stocked for you!

Rowan Fine Art Collection – a wonderful pattern book full of 14 sock and accessory designs using Rowan’s new Fine Art fingering weight yarn.

Enjoy checking out the new things tonight, and we’ll get your orders pulled and packed up tomorrow. You know we love seeing what you pick out.

Madelinetosh Pashmina, Juliespins MCN, Shalimar DK, and More!

How is it possible that it’s June already? And what happened to the first part of this year? I’m not sure I’ve gotten enough knitting projects done in 2013 to call it almost half-over, yet. It’s probably time for me to start thinking about holiday gift knitting already. Luckily, there are plenty of pretty yarns just up on the website tonight to tempt me. (And I am always particularly fond of the blends that have a bit of cashmere in them. I love knitting with that yarn, and it’s always a great one to give to a friend, because it feels so great. If you’re like me, you’re in luck with this Update.) Just up, we added in:

madelinetosh-pashmina-Baroque-VioletMadelinetosh Pashmina – we have half of our order, but it’s still 30+ color options for you. This sport weight yarn is 75% Superwash Merino, 15% Silk and 10% Cashmere, with 360 yards in a skein. It’s wonderful to work with and knits up beautifully, perfect for shawls, socks, cowls and scarves. (Shown here in Baroque Violet). Pattern ideas? Try one of these: Bell Heather Cowl, Some Cloudy Day, The Old Man & The Sea, Toujours, Josefin, Shaelyn, Amiga, Vitamin D, or Driftwood.

dream-in-color-smooshy-Fierce-ScarletDream in Color Smooshy – a fingering weight yarn that is 100% Superwash Merino with a generous 450 yards per skein. Dream in Color yarns do not stripe or pool, which is especially nice when you’re making shawls and sweaters and don’t want any specific hot spots. It’s also nice for socks, hats, scarves and gloves. We’ve re-stocked all of our colors. (Shown here in Fierce Scarlet.) Pattern ideas? Ishbel Beret, Glam Shells, Elizabeta Kneehighs, Elfe, Happy Street, Sunnyside, Candelia, Clockwork, and Vigneto Shawl.

juliespines-mcn-430-asparagusJuliespins MCN 430 – a fingering weight yarn that is 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, and 10% Nylon, with 430 yards in the skein. You’ll love the feel of this yarn, and I know you always love the colors that Julie comes up with! She very rarely repeats a colorway, so if you see one you love, jump on it! (Shown here in Asparagus.) Try one of these: Harold and Maude, Oaklet Shawl, Summer Wind, Gandalf Socks, Karkom Wristwarmers, Charlize, Ginger Leaves, Aestlight Shawl, and Mostly Warmness.

shalimar-breathless-dk-tawnyShalimar Breathless DK – this is the other half of our DK order. The first half went up a couple of weeks ago and you seem to like this base as much as I do! It’s also a Superwash Merino/Silk/Cashmere base like the Pashmino, but on a bit heavier base. Gorgeous colors, as always, and the subtle coloring makes it pretty for sweaters, vests, and shawls. (Shown here in Tawny.) Pattern ideas: Argonath, The Age of Brass & Steam, Bailey’s Irish Cream, Peasy,  Forest Glade Cowl, Emanuela, Vodka Lemonade, and Neon.

lavishea-soapLavishea – more tins of all of your favorite moisturizing scents, plus two new scents for the summer: Peach Mango and Blue Gardenia. Be sure to keep a tin in your purse and in each of your knitting project bags. You’ll love the way it moisturizes without leaving your hands feeling greasy or sticky. It’s available in 16 scents, so you’re sure to find one that you love.

Knitter’s Pride Needles – re-stocked.

Have fun checking out the new things. We’ll be here, busily packing up your orders and sending them on their way.

Zauberball, Trekking, Three Bags Full, Karbonz Needles and More

Zauberball-Sock-The-Loopy-EweIt has been a beautiful day here in Colorado. The sun is shining and it’s 78 degrees. However, the forecast calls for snow on Wednesday, so we’re not putting away the wooly socks just yet. And I have to say, I’m over the snow. Done. Finished. Don’t need to see any more. Don’t kill the lilac buds. Ready for spring. But that doesn’t mean I’m done with wool and socks and all things knitterly. Good thing, because we added in some fun yarn in tonight’s Monday Update (and needles and project bags, too).

Schoppel Wolle – Zauberball. This yarn has pretty color changes as you knit with it, making it great for socks and shawls and scarves without too much lace detail. So fun to knit and watch the colors emerge. (Shown above in Sock 1564, Tropical Fish.)

Trekking-XXL-Tweed-The-Loopy-EweTrekking – XXL and Tweed. We’ve re-stocked colors and added in some new ones in both Trekking XXL and Trekking Tweed. If you’re knitting socks for people who are going to toss them in the washer and dryer, this is the perfect work-horse yarn. (Shown here in Sky Blue Tweed – look at those fun tweedy bits in there!)

Universal – Cotton Supreme and Splash. We’ve re-stocked the Cotton Supreme and added in Supreme Splash (which gives a tie-dyed sort of look – very pretty.) These cotton yarns are perfect for summer sweaters, kids clothes, toys, and scarves or hats for people who want to avoid wool. They are all machine wash and dry, making them easy-care as well.

Loopy-Cakes-The-Loopy-EweLoopy Cakes – The Colors of Loopy.  Our newest cake set contains all of the colors that make up our shop (which just happen to be our very favorite colors at the moment!).

Knitter’s Pride – Karbonz Needles. We’ve had so many requests from all of you that we added in this line of needles. I actually tried them and liked them last year, but we didn’t have room on the needle wall to add another line at that time. We have them in DPN’s, 10″ single points, and circulars. These needles are made from high-tech carbon fiber, which gives the needles a high tensile strength, while still keeping them lightweight with a lot of flexibility. The tips are covered in a nickel-plated brass with nicely tapered points.

Three-Bags-Full-The-Loopy-EweThree Bags Full – Project Bags. Michele has whipped up some more of her pretty  bags for us, in multiple fabrics. We usually get different fabrics each time, so if you see one you love, don’t dally on the purchase! (Shown here in Le Chat.)

While you’re perusing the new things tonight, take a few extra minutes to check out our newly re-done website. New homepage, bigger photos, and several other features that you’ve asked for. It has been a long time in the making, and we hope you like it!
