The Loopy Ewe Day Camp!

We have something fun for the upcoming summer months! For this year only, in lieu of a traditional Camp Loopy, we are excited to announce The Loopy Ewe Day Camp. Day Camp is Camp Loopy-lite, and will give you a taste of what Camp Loopy is like, but with a bit more flexibility on project size and scope! We will be hosting camp groups on the Loopy Groupies Ravelry discussion board and on our Loopy Ewe Knitting Circle group on Facebook. We look forward to chatting with you all over the summer months and, of course, seeing all the beautiful projects you create and the adventures you have along the way!

I must admit I was a little sad this week, as this is the traditional Camp Loopy Announcement week, but having this made me happier! Rest assured that Camp Loopy as you have known it will be back in its full form next year – I’m committed to making that happen!

The Challenges:

As with traditional Camp Loopy, The Loopy Ewe Day Camp consists of three distinct monthly projects in June, July, and August. The specifications for the monthly projects are much simpler, though. For this summer, June will be a one-skein project, July a two-skein project and August a three-skein project! There will be no penalties for going over the skein requirement.

Specifics

  • There is no yardage or project specification on this – it’s your choice to make based your time/ambition/desire!
  • Yarn for The Loopy Ewe Day Camp must be purchased from The Loopy Ewe on or after the date of the month’s announcement to qualify for the month (consider this your June announcement – Tuesday, May 10, 2022!!) and for the end of summer rewards.
  • The project should not be started before the first of the month (June 1st, 2022 for the June project), and needs to be completed by the end of the month (June 30th, 2022).
  • To be counted, you should post a photo of your completed project to Instagram* by midnight, July 1, 2022. Your photo post should include the hashtag #TheLoopyEweDayCamp and should tag The Loopy Ewe (@theloopyewe). You will know it’s been approved when I like your post! Knitting/crocheting must be started and finished in the designated month – no cheating :).
  • If you add an order note that your order is for The Loopy Ewe Day Camp, I’ll pop in a cute camp-themed button. Note – these are getting here later than planned, but should arrive by Friday, so if you would like the pin, your order may be held until then!
  • *if you do not have an Instagram account, or prefer not to post there, email your finished project photo with the email subject line, “The Loopy Ewe Day Camp” to support@theloopyewe.com

Rewards

The current Loopy Rewards Program awards points for each dollar spent and for your birthday – make sure you are signed up, or set up an account to start earning! Each time you hit 350 points, you can trade those in for a $20 Loopy credit (or trade in 250 points for free shipping). While you will still get points for your purchases, completion of the Loopy Ewe Day Camp projects will operate outside that rewards system.

To qualify for a reward under the Loopy Ewe Day Camp, you must complete all three months and upload photos of your completed projects by the designated date and time. When you do this, you will be provided a 20% discount on your first order in September! This will, incidentally, coincide with our planned first Loopy Ewe Sweater Knit-Along month, so it could certainly help you get your sweater yarn! As always, we welcome all knitters and crocheters – you do not have to complete all three months to be part of the community – come join in the conversation!

Loopy Academy Fall 2021!

How can it be September 1st already? But the fun part of that is that it brings Loopy Academy back in session! And this school year, we have something fun for you and it involves some of our wonderful indie knitwear designers.

Loopy Academy Knitwear Designers

Fall Semester Challenge: Three projects. Each pattern should be from different knitwear designers that we have featured in our Blog’s Designer Spotlight in the past. (So you’ll be doing one pattern each, from three different designers.) If you’re having a hard time choosing, just know this will also be our Spring Semester challenge, too. That way you’ll have a chance to do six different designers, if you do both Fall and Spring Semesters. Spring Semester goes from February 1 through May 31.

Details:
– If you complete all three Fall Semester Projects following the parameters, we’ll add 225 points to your Loopy Reward Totals. (Points will be added by mid-January, when we have confirmed all of the projects.)
– Yarn for Fall Semester needs to be purchased from The Loopy Ewe starting September 1, 2021 or later.
– Photos of each of your completed projects need to be emailed to us by 12/31/21 (support@theloopyewe.com) You can email them as you finish them. Sarah keeps an amazing master spreadsheet!
– When you send in your photo, please include date of yarn purchase, name of pattern, name of yarn, name of designer and yardage used.
– Each project needs to be a minimum of 400 yards, singly knit.

I’m already having a hard time picking my own patterns and designers for Academy this semester. There are so many I want to do! But …. I’ll start with three and go from there.

Here is what I’m thinking so far:

Dillon Blue Bee Studio Knitwear Designers
Dillon © Blue Bee Studio (thinking about knitting it in stripes with Blue Sky Skyland)
Sunshine Coast HeidiKDesigns Knitwear Designers
Sunshine Coast © Heidikdesigns (thinking about knitting it in Uncommon Thread Merino DK)
Grate Stephanie Lotven Tellybean Knits
Grate © Stephanie Lotven/Tellybean Knits (thinking about knitting it in Malabrigo Rios)

Why yes, I do intend to start knitting myself a whole new sweater wardrobe. 🙂 And yes, I know I’m going over the 400 yard requirement each time. But right now, all I’m thinking about is getting new sweaters in colors I love!

What are you thinking about doing this semester? Can’t wait to see what you pick from all of these wonderful knitwear designers. Come talk with us on the Loopy Groupie Board on Ravelry and/or The Loopy Ewe Knitting Circle on Facebook, and tell us what you’re thinking for the semester.

Have a great rest of your week!

Sheri

P.S. If you prefer working on Undergrad Loopy Academy, you’ll find the list of assignments on our Ravelry Undergrad Thread or on our Loopy Academy blog post.

August Camp Loopy Challenge!

It’s time to share our August challenge for Loopy Circus Camp! Remember, this is a virtual camp, so all are welcome and no traveling involved. Even if you didn’t participate in June or July, you’re still welcome to join Camp Loopy in August.

August Challenge:

This month we are celebrating the Main Event. The Act to top all Acts. The Best Act of the evening. The Showstopper! So pick something that is worthy of being showcased in the main ring. It could be something that challenges your skills, or something that wows with color. It could be something that incorporates multiple stitches, or something that is simple but mighty. What says Showstopper to you? Your August project must use 800 or more yards, single knit.

Camp Store Week:

We are offering a 15% discount on the yarn you are using for your August project, between July 12-19, 2021.

You will need to leave us an order comment telling us which specific yarn will be used for your project. If there isn’t a note, then we won’t be able to apply the discount.

Also, please note that you are welcome to use Loopy credit OR the discount. We aren’t able to add both. If we see that you’ve used Loopy credit, we’ll not add in a discount on top of that.

To receive Camp Points for your project, please make sure you check these boxes:
  1. Yarn for the project must be purchased from The Loopy Ewe July 12, 2021, or later.
  2. Project must use at least 800 yards, worked single (or 1600, if held double).
  3. Project must not be started before August 1, and must be completed by August 30.
  4. A photo of the completed project must be emailed to us by September 1. (support@theloopyewe.com)

Need ideas? Color opinions? Project encouragement? Join us on Ravelry in the Loopy Groupies, or on Facebook in our Loopy Ewe Knitting Circle. We all love brainstorming and seeing what everyone is working on!
