This fall, instead of Loopy Academy, a Mastery (as with our Sweater or Sock) or any of our more traditional Loopy challenges, we’d like to introduce The Loopy Ewe’s Gratitude Attitude. In October, November and December, we focus on gift-giving and charity projects. Gifts for family, friends, teachers, colleagues, fur family, and even yourself all apply! Projects that give us time to craft handmade items for those we deem worthy. Those we are thankful to have in our lives or causes we believe in. After seeing some pretty fun tributes with the finish of Camp Loopy’s Roll the Credits, we just wanted more! Let’s start this season with an Attitude of Gratitude!

Gift and Charity projects are often smaller, lower yardage projects that have historically not qualified to be part of The Loopy Ewe’s challenges (at least not that I recall!). Because this time of year is already often a frenzy of finishing (starting?) projects to give for the holidays, we decided to celebrate that!
What is the Gratitude Attitude?
Take the Gratitude Attitude challenge as a motivator to get those gifts and charity projects done. It’s a great opportunity to up your giving game. Participating here provides a community of like-minded crafters, the satisfaction of making things that truly inspire you, and the ability to take advantage of a great support team (we are more than just enablers!!!!)! Go you!
You will earn points based on the sum of the total finished yardage for all the gift and charity projects you finish between now and December 31, 2023. Did you knit or crochet 10 hats at 210 yards each? Credit yourself 2,100 yards! Each individual project does not need to reach any specific yardage. Projects large and small can add to your yardage tally! Make five 50-yard mini-stockings for your kiddo’s teachers or a 250 yard cowl – it’s up to you!
Details
Yarn for the Gratitude Attitude must be purchased from The Loopy Ewe on or after October 3, 2023 to qualify to earn points. You are welcome to use stash yarn and join in the conversation, but we can’t award points for stash yarn used. We will allow you to combine stash yarn with purchased yarn and get credit for the purchased yarn yardages. Only the purchased yarn yardage will count.
Projects must be started and finished between October 3 and December 31, 2023.
Yarn yardages are based on yarn being held singly. If you hold 2 strands together the the yardage will be the yardage knit, not the yardage used (qualifying yardage for yarn held double would be half the yardage used).
The Point Structure
Earn Gratitude Attitude Points at the following total yardage levels:
- 400-600 yards: 40 points
- 601-800 yards: 50 points
- 801-1000 yards: 60 points
- 1001-1200 yards: 70 points
- 1201-1400 yards: 80 points
- 1401-1600 yards: 90 points
- 1601-800 yards: 100 points
- Etc. – add 10 points for each additional 200 yards used!
Gratitude Attitude Reporting
Because this challenge may take quite a bit of work to track, we are asking that each person fill out a spreadsheet with all their project information AND send photos of finished projects. If you plan to participate, email support@theloopyewe.com and we will share a Google document with you to gather all the details! Submit your photos via email to support@theloopyewe.com as you complete them or as a composite at the end. All project information (spreadsheet and photos) must be submitted before midnight Mountain time on December 31, 2023. Along with an image of your finished projects, the spreadsheet will require the following information for each project:
- Yarn used
- Yardage of qualifying yarn used
- Pattern name & Designer
- Recipient (in general terms unless you want to share more – friend, family, charity, etc. is sufficient)
Enjoy Making All The Things!
Bring on your giftable hats, scarves, mitts, socks, dishcloths, softies & more! We can’t wait to see your creativity shine. The Loopy Ewe’s Ravelry Group will host a thread called Gratitude Attitude (to go up later today). May you all draw inspiration from one another, as we do from you every day!
