Madelinetosh Pashmina, Juliespins MCN, Shalimar DK, and More!

How is it possible that it’s June already? And what happened to the first part of this year? I’m not sure I’ve gotten enough knitting projects done in 2013 to call it almost half-over, yet. It’s probably time for me to start thinking about holiday gift knitting already. Luckily, there are plenty of pretty yarns just up on the website tonight to tempt me. (And I am always particularly fond of the blends that have a bit of cashmere in them. I love knitting with that yarn, and it’s always a great one to give to a friend, because it feels so great. If you’re like me, you’re in luck with this Update.) Just up, we added in:

Madelinetosh Pashmina – we have half of our order, but it’s still 30+ color options for you. This sport weight yarn is 75% Superwash Merino, 15% Silk and 10% Cashmere, with 360 yards in a skein. It’s wonderful to work with and knits up beautifully, perfect for shawls, socks, cowls and scarves. (Shown here in Baroque Violet). Pattern ideas? Try one of these: Bell Heather Cowl, Some Cloudy Day, The Old Man & The Sea, Toujours, Josefin, Shaelyn, Amiga, Vitamin D, or Driftwood.

Dream in Color Smooshy – a fingering weight yarn that is 100% Superwash Merino with a generous 450 yards per skein. Dream in Color yarns do not stripe or pool, which is especially nice when you’re making shawls and sweaters and don’t want any specific hot spots. It’s also nice for socks, hats, scarves and gloves. We’ve re-stocked all of our colors. (Shown here in Fierce Scarlet.) Pattern ideas? Juliespins MCN 430 – a fingering weight yarn that is 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, and 10% Nylon, with 430 yards in the skein. You’ll love the feel of this yarn, and I know you always love the colors that Julie comes up with! She very rarely repeats a colorway, so if you see one you love, jump on it! (Shown here in Asparagus.) Try one of these: Harold and Maude, Oaklet Shawl, Summer Wind, Gandalf Socks, Karkom Wristwarmers, Charlize, Ginger Leaves, Aestlight Shawl, and Mostly Warmness.

Shalimar Breathless DK – this is the other half of our DK order. The first half went up a couple of weeks ago and you seem to like this base as much as I do! It’s also a Superwash Merino/Silk/Cashmere base like the Pashmino, but on a bit heavier base. Gorgeous colors, as always, and the subtle coloring makes it pretty for sweaters, vests, and shawls. Madelinetosh, Socktopus, Shibui and More!

Happy Monday to you! We just added lots of things to the website for tonight’s Monday Update. Pop on over there and you’ll find:

Madelinetosh Pashmina – the lovely sport weight 3-ply that is 75% superwash merino, 15% silk and 10% cashmere. Since this feels so wonderful, it’s great for scarves, hats, cowls, mitts, gloves, mittens and shawls. (Shown here in Jade.)

Madelinetosh DK – a DK weight in 100% superwash merino re-stocked in just a few of the newer colors tonight. This yarn is beautiful for sweaters and vests (and equally fun for hats and scarves).

Madelinetosh Vintage – a worsted weight in 100% superwash merino in a newer-color re-stock as well.

Shibui Sock – re-stocked in several of your favorite colors. Not only is this fingering weight yarn great for socks, but it also works up nice for shawls.

Shibui Silk Cloud – This light-as-as-feather yarn is great on its own. Try Stephanie’s Pretty Thing Cowl, but it’s also wonderful as a held-along yarn. I’m making a Cabled Rib Wrap using Silk Cloud held with Shibui Baby Alpaca DK. It’s so wonderful to work with. (Shown here in Cranberry.)

Reisenthel Bags – these polyester bags are great for your knitting projects and your shopping expeditions. Lavishea Bars – Don’t you love these moisturizing bars? I keep them in my purse and in my knitting project bags. They make a great add-along gift if you’re giving someone a pair of mitts or gloves as a gift.

Socktopus Sokkusu – more of one of your favorite yarns! We have a few more colors going up next week again, and then we won’t have more Socktopus until next summer. They are moving their operations and it will take awhile to get set back up again.

Buttons, buttons, buttons and more buttons – I had fun buying more buttons and you’ll see what I mean when you see all of the varieties that we added in! You can find buttons under the Fun Accessories tab and we have them from Arnhild’s Knitting Studio, Buttons, Etc, Durango Buttons, and JHB Buttons.

Did you read the comments on last Friday’s RAK Reporting blog post? Wow – what fun ideas you all have had! We used the Random Number Generator to pick 3 winners for the week. Congratulations to Marilee in MO, Allison in CA and Melissa in IN. I’ve sent emails to all three of you so that you can pick your free skein from our Loopy Ewe Seasonings Series line. Anniversary Kits, Socktopus, BAAH, and more!

We’re excited to share our Sixth Anniversary Kit with you today! We worked with two great companies – Lorna’s Laces and Lantern Moon, and one great designer – Debbie O’Neill, to pull this together for you. You’re also getting a sneak peak at our new “Seasonings Series”, which we’ll bring to you this fall. More on that in a minute.

The kit comes with a full skein plus a coordinating mini skein, in our favorite Loopy color – red, with charcoal mini. The yarn is dyed up on Lorna’s Laces’ awesome Shepherd Sock base. Debbie O’Neill has designed all of our anniversary kit patterns, and this year she has a great sock pattern with cables, that works for guys or gals. Since we’re celebrating our anniversary during Olympics month, we thought we’d commemorate both with the title of this colorway, “Tickety Boo”. If you watched the opening ceremonies, you might have heard Danny Boyle (the producer) say that working with the Queen on the Bond Skit was Tickety Boo. I looked it up and it means “everything is fine”. Although everything is GREAT here, so our translation for Tickety Boo is “Everything is Great!” (And aren’t there going to be days when you will need to wear your Tickety Boo socks or shawl for a little extra “everything is great!” good luck?)

When the skeins arrived earlier this summer, I realized that this skein+mini would also work well for another one of Debbie’s past club patterns – A Breath of Fresh Air. Some of you already have this pattern, but if you don’t and would like it when ordering the Anniversary Kit, just leave us an order note and we’ll send that one, too. Both the shawl and sock patterns will come to you via email. To round out the kit, we worked with Lantern Moon for the cute drawstring project bag with embroidered Loopy, as well as the little heart stitchmarkers that we’ve included in the kit.

Back to our Seasonings Series – this is a new line that we have in the works for this Fall. (Why Seasonings? Because every skein comes with a coordinating mini skein and everything works better with a little spice, right? We’ve had a blast coming up with the colorways and the spices!) We’ll keep you posted on that. Tickety Boo is a limited edition just for the Anniversary Kit, so if you love the red/black combo, get it while it lasts.

Of course it’s not all about the Anniversary Kit tonight. We have other things that went up in tonight’s Update as well! We added in:

Socktopus Sokkusu – A very popular line here, dyed by Alice and her gals in the UK. This fingering weight yarn works well for socks and shawls. If you haven’t already picked up Alice’s Socktopus book, you might want to get it. I love so many of the patterns in there.

BAAH Yarns – This is the beautiful yarn that inspired me to use two solids and a multi for my Thin Ice Shawl for Camp Loopy Project Two. We have many coordinating multi’s and semi-solids in this line, as well as several patterns from BAAH that use that technique. (Shown here in Brazilian Emerald.)

Scojo Eyeware – I’ve been wearing these reading glasses all day for working on the computer, and I keep forgetting that I’m wearing them. They’re so lightweight and comfortable. We have the Gels line, which incorporates the latest in rimless eyewear technology, infused with beautiful color and a precise mounting system. I’m taking all of my cheap reading glasses and adding one to each purse that I use, and then keeping my Scojo glasses for computer and knitting. (I admit, I mostly added in this reading glasses line for myself. When you wear them for so many different activities, you want them to be good!) Each pair comes in it’s own plastic case.

Namaste – We have the new Purple Oh, Snap sets, the Circular Cases and Buddy Cases in Pumpkin Spice, and the Harlow Bags in Carribean Blue, Espresso and Eggplant. (Pumpkin Spice Harlow’s still to come.)

GoKnit – New colors from GoKnit! The Jewel Collection includes the small, medium and large GoKnit Bags in Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Amethyst and Champagne Gold. (Shown here in the Medium Amethyst size.) We’ve also added in their cute Bracelet Kits, which you can whip up in an evening. Each kit includes the materials to make a thick and thin bracelet. The thin bracelet can also be worn as a necklace.

Lavishea Bars – Four new scents in this wonderful hand bar line. We’ve added Jasmine Vanilla, Aloe & Green Clover, Japanese Cherry Blossom, and Plumeria. These tins are great to keep in knitting project bag, purses, and backpacks.
