Hedgehog Fibres, Dream in Color, Namaste and More

ananke-shawl-hedgehog-fibresMore Monday Fun for you! (Did you miss the Monday Update last week? It’s always a little sad to me when we have to miss a week. But we’re back!) Tonight, we added in:

Hedgehog Fibres – this beautiful yarn comes from Cork, Ireland and is dyed up by the talented Beata. We have started out with the fingering weight base that is 90% super wash merino and 10% nylon. This has to be some of the softest 90/10 that I have ever knit with. And the colors are just gorgeous. I used a skein of this in the Peasant color to make this Ananke Shawl for my Camp Loopy Project One. (Click on the photo to make it bigger, so you can see all of the pretty colors in there!)

Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere – I admit, I have a particular fondness for yarn that contains a bit of cashmere. This yarn base is one of my favorites! And while 80/10/10 bases (80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon) are pretty common, Smooshy with Cashmere is 70/20/10 (70% Superwash Merino, 20% Cashmere, 10% Nylon). Even more luscious!

dream-in-color-perfectly-posh-the-loopy-eweDream in Color Perfectly Posh – You all loved this base when we had it for the Dream Club, and then when we used it for one of our Spring Giftables kits. I really liked knitting with it when I was working on the hat pattern for the Giftables club. The single ply fingering weight is 70% Wool, 10% Cashmere, and 10% Kid Mohair. Don’t let the mohair fool you. You will not find this scratchy in any way. It’s the softest, finest mohair available. What it does is keep you extra warm, so it’s perfect for hats, scarves, gloves and shawls.

Namaste – We were overdue for an order of bags and accessories from Namaste, and they have arrived! (We do have a few items still on backorder, so we’ll update those when they come in later.) Lots of colors and styles for you to choose from.

Mochimochi – Anna sent us a whole new batch of kits to make her fun little creatures, including some new ones. These little guys are kind of addictive. I’ll bet you’ll have a hard time making just one!

Enjoy checking out the new things tonight, and we’ll get your orders pulled and packed up tomorrow. You know we love seeing what you pick out.

Lorna’s Laces, Namaste, Blue Q, Shalimar, and More!

Lorna's-Laces-Shepherd-Worsted-SheridanHappy Monday to you. We just put lots up for tonight’s Monday Update!

Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted – a worsted weight yarn that is 100% Superwash Merino. When people walk down our Worsted aisle feeling the yarn, they always stop at the Shepherd Worsted and comment on how soft it is. I’ve used it for fingerless mitts and scarves, because I want it close! It’s also great for sweaters, vests, and baby items. Here are some pattern ideas: Abalone, Linen Weave Boomerang (love this – just added it to my favs), 5th Avenue Infinity Scarf, Katrina Ballerina Lace Layering Cardigan (maybe I should make this, since I can’t seem to finish a sweater), Deephaven, Abate, or Sunset Shaw. (Shown here in Sheridan.)

Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock -a fingering weight that is 80% Superwash Merino and 20% Nylon, with 430 yards in the skein. This makes it great for socks, as well as shawls, cowls and scarves. Need some ideas? Level Up Socks, Mojo (fun textures in there), Old Joe, Rivers of Mars, or Ananke.

Shalimar-Breathless-MelbaShalimar Breathless – a fingering weight yarn that is 75% Superwash Merino, 15% Cashmere, and 10% Silk. You can use it for socks (and they’d be luscious), but many people are using it for things like cowls, scarves, and shawls. It’s so soft. Equally wonderful to work with and wear. I think it would be beautiful in Imagine When, Tempest Shawlette, Bryce Canyon Shawl, Elowen Shawl (two colors – gorgeous), or January Scarf. (Shown here in Melba.)

ChiaoGoo Interchangeable Sets – More of the Large, Small, and Complete Twist sets. The Small set has needle sizes 2 (2.75) – 8 (5.0), the Large set has sizes 9 (5.5) – 15 (10.0), and the Complete set has everything.

Sajou-Scissors-TortoiseshellSajou Scissors – If you want something truly beautiful to add to your notions case, check out these scissors. They’re pricey because of the labor that goes into each one. It takes a dozen people to make each pair! We have them in several styles. (Shown here in Tortoiseshell.)

Clover Beading Hooks – I don’t know about you, but I always have a hard time figuring out hook sizes. To add to the confusion, some hooks seem to have different sizing than others. We have added in two sizes of hooks for the two sizes of beads that we carry. You’ll want the 1.0 mm for the 6/0 beads (that’s the size bead that fits well on fingering weight yarn) and you’ll want the .75 mm for the 8/0 beads (that’s the size bead that fits well on laceweight yarn.) I ordered every one of the hooks they had in stock and put more on backorder. So if we run out, just know that we hope to have more again soon.

Namaste – re-stocks in Boardwalk Bags, Hermosas, Harlows, Laguna, Mini Messengers, Monroes, Zumas, Buddy Cases, Circular Cases (some of those colors are on backorder), and Oh Snap bags in Eggplant.

blue-q-bagsSoak – Handmaid Creme (in the perfect size for purses and knitting bags) in Aquae, Celebration, Lacey, Yuzu and Scentless. Soak Wash in large and small sizes in Aquae, Celebration, Lacey, and Scentless, as well as Yuzu in the small size and Travel Kits that contain 8 mini Soaks.

Blue Q Bags – We continue to have a lot of fun with these bags! We’ve re-stocked and added more. You’ll find them in the Handy Totes (the perfect project sized bag, although I’ve heard some of you are using these as gift bags, too), Shoulder Totes (the perfect multi-project sized bag with a zipper on top), Messenger Bags (great for one-skein shawls and scarves), and Large and Small Pouches for your notions and DPN’s.

Have fun checking out the new stuff, and we’ll get your orders packed up and shipped out asap!

Fibernymph, Shalimar, Biscotte, Trekking and more!

Brrr – it’s downright cold around here in the mornings now. How about where you are? It’s the perfect weather for knitting a new fall sweater, and we have more of one of our favorite sweater yarns up on the website in tonight’s Monday Update. Just in:

Stonehedge Fiber Mill’s Shepherd’s Wool – a worsted weight yarn that has quickly become a favorite for many of you. We’ve re-stocked all of the colors and they’re ready to turn into sweaters, vests, scarves and hats! (Shepherd’s Wool also come in a DK weight.)

Biscotte & Cie – Did you see the cute twisted Stitch Surfer sock pattern in the latest edition of Knitty, using this yarn? We have it available in 5 different color combinations (self-striping yarn plus solid). It looks like a fun and unusual pattern for all of us sock knitters! (Shown above in the Kit 3 version – Purple Rain.) Don’t forget to check out the regular Biscotte self-striping skeins we have in stock as well. They’re fun to work with. I’ll show you the hat I made with one of them in Wednesday’s blog post!

Shalimar – re-stocks of the Zoe Sock Yarn fingering weight. This batch was done on a new Zoe Sock yarn base, which is a bit softer than the other base. We still have some of the original base left, for those of you who are a fan and don’t like change! The new base is listed on the website under Zoe Sock 2. (Shown here in Asilomar.)

Trekking XXL – lots of re-stocks in all of your favorite colors! This fingering weight sock yarn is great for gift knitting, because there is no special care required. The gift recipients can toss it in the washer and dryer and it will come out looking just as beautiful as when you knit it.

Zauberball – re-stocks in Crazy Socks, Sock, Starke 6 (DK), and Lace. We’ve also added in Zauberball 100 – the single ply fingering weight in a 100% merino wool base.

Fibernymph Dye Works– Hand dyed by Lisa in PA, this fingering weight base is 80% Superwash Merino and 20% Nylon. Great for long-wearing socks and pretty for shawls and scarves, too. (Shown here in Mourning Dove.)

Austermann – re-stocks in Step, the wonderful yarn that is infused with Aloe Vera and Jojoba oil. The softening/moisturizing qualities last for more than 40 washes, and it’s wonderful on your hands as you knit it up.

Zitron – re-stocks in Uni-sono Multi’s and semi-solids, and Filigran (a 100% Superwash Merino single ply laceweight with 650+ yards per skein).

Namaste – the new yellow color is now available in the Harlow Bags, the Circular Cases, the Skinny Minis (shown here), and Zuma Bags. These are a great way to add a little sunshine to your cold Fall and Winter days.

We have a winner from last week’s blog contest, where I asked you what other needle arts you like to do. The Random Number Generator pulled a comment from the bunch and the skein of Fibernymph yarn goes to Julia in TN. Congratulations, Julia!

Happy shopping, and we’ll get your orders pulled and packed up tomorrow. Tuesday’s are always a lot of fun around here!
