Beautiful Uschitita from The Netherlands

I wish you all could walk down the Uschitita aisle at Loopy. It’s a thing of beauty. (Of course we don’t usually get to keep a whole aisle of this gorgeous yarn for too long, but right now it looks beautiful. Here’s part of it. Too much to fit into one photo.) We have both Merino Sock and Merino Singles.

Steffi and her husband Juergen run their business from The Netherlands. Steffi is a physician, a proud squirrel mom, and someone who has an amazing sense of color.

How does it knit up? Here is a Reyna Shawl I did out of one of their colorways.

The color is well distributed and vibrant. The color combinations are unique. Here are some other pattern ideas:

Spud and Chloe – we’ve re-stocked:
Sweater (worsted weight, 55% Superwash merino, 45% cotton)
Outer (super bulky weight, 65% Superwash merino, 35% cotton).

Blue Sky Fibers – we’ve re-stocked:
Worsted Cotton (worsted weight, 100% cotton)
Woolstok (worsted weight, 100% Fine Highland Wool)
Extra (aran weight, 55% Baby Alpaca, 45% Fine Merino).

Stonehedge Fiber Mill – we’ve re-stocked:
Shepherd’s Wool Worsted (worsted weight, 100% wool)

Our last Yarn Update included:
Jamieson & Smith 2 ply Jumper
Loopy Color Cakes
Re-stocks in all of our Cascade bases
Shepherd’s Wool Crazy

What I’m working on:

I finished two cowls this past week. The Escarpment Cowl (uses 2 skeins of Malabrigo Caprino), and the Present Cowl (uses two colors of Cascade 220 Superwash Aran. I modified the pattern a bit and striped it.) I set my crochet project aside for a bit – my thumb is sore. (Does that happen from time to time when you crochet? I obviously don’t do it often enough.) Still need to finish Walcot Opus Belmina and Dream in Color Ashburn. And have some undercover projects I’m working on. Seriously, how many projects are too many? I’m pushing the boundaries.

Jamieson, Cascade, Crazy and Color Cakes

We have lots of re-stocks, new colors, and new Color Cakes for you today!

Color Cakes – We’ve had several people ask us to do a Worsted Weight version of the Loopy Cakes (fingering weight) that we used to do. So we did some! These mini cakes of Cascade 220 come with 100+ yards to the skein (600+ yards in the set of 6). You’ll find Seascape, Royal, Collegiate, Blue Jeans, Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. These work well for colorwork, smalls, edgings, and other such things.

Color Cakes The Loopy Ewe

Jamieson & Smith 2 Ply Jumper – Speaking of colorwork, this yarn is perfect for it in a fingering weight. 100% Shetland Wool, light and lofty and warm. We have all 92 colors for you.

Stonehedge Shepherd’s Wool Crazy – More beauties. These skeins are indeed crazy – colors all mixed up, different combinations, and just fun to knit up. As always, feel free to give us some color preferences in your order notes. No two are alike, and we can only order 50 skeins at a time, but we do get them as often as they can put us back on the wait list. (Free emailed cowl patterns with purchase. Just leave us a note if you’d like the patterns.)

Squish and Malabrigo

Second finish of 2020 and it was so fun to knit! Different sections, different stitches, knitted border – all fun. Plus – Malabrigo Rios. Nice way to start the year.

Pattern: Squish by Dominique Trad
Yarn: Malabrigo Rios (2 skeins of the solid, 1 skein of the multi)

And doesn’t it just seem right that squishy Malabrigo Rios would be the perfect yarn for a pattern called Squish?

I also worked on a sweater over the holidays, and finished it the first week of 2020. That way, I get to count all of that yardage in 2020. 🙂 I’ll get it photoed and will share it soon.

What is your first project of 2020? Finished yet, or in progress? And what’s up next? I am now working on a project that is going to be Malabrigo’s first ever KAL in March. I may have to make a second one that month. I hope you’ll join in on that. Details soon!
