Fibernymph, Loopy Legends, Hiya, ChiaGoo and More

The Monday Yarn Update is ready for you! Today we added in:

Fibernymph Dye Works – Lisa has done up some more of her beautiful self-striping colors for us. Did you catch last Friday’s blog post, where we talked about self-striping colors? There are a lot of cute things you can make with this yarn. It’s labor-intensive to dye, but we’ll continue to get it in as often as our dyers are able to do up batches for us. Lisa’s self-striping yarn is 80% Superwash Merino and 20% nylon, with 400 yards in the skein. Pattern ideas: Pin Striped Socks, Rayures, Caffe Macchiato, Podster Gloves, Syncopation Socks, Staccato Socks, Jeck, and you might try the Fish Lips Kiss Heel for your socks. Looks interesting. Shown below in Highlighters and Rockabilly Bride.

The Loopy Ewe Loopy Legends – a new batch of the exclusive colors that we have been dying up for our 2013 Loopy Legends! This is the last big batch of 2013. (We have one more single color coming soon – we had to get it re-dyed.) In this batch, we’re celebrating new Legends Lisa, Mary, Melissa, Teresa, Denise, Laura, Allison, Eevi, Linda, Barb, Jenny, Lisa, Cathy, Leslie and Marsha. Our Loopy Legends sent us beautiful inspiration pictures, and of course Lorna’s Laces did an amazing job of interpreting them. Pattern Ideas: Antarktis, Harvest Dew, Lacy Karius, Slip Stitch Quilted Hat for Adults, and Atwood Infinity Scarf. Shown below in Linda’s Warm Ocean Currents and Melissa’s Knitting in the Garden.

Fibernymph, Into the Whirled, Beads, Buttons and More!

miyuki-beadsHappy Monday to you! I’ve been playing with beads all day. (Ok, not playing. Working. It’s all work ….) We have some beautiful new colors of beads that went up tonight, in both the 6/0 and 8/0 sizes. Adding beads to projects just seems a little magical to me. Not much work to it, but it adds so much to the project. I’ll talk more about beads in a future post. For now, I know you popped over here to see What’s New in the Monday Update.

Miyuki Beads from Caravan – Miyuki Japanese Seed Beads are renowned for being some of the best on the market. They are extremely uniform and consistent in both size and color, and they also have slightly larger holes than Czech beads, making them easier to use. We re-stocked the colors we were low on and added in 8 more colors of the 8/0 beads (typically used on laceweight yarn) and 20 more colors of the 6/0 beads (typically used on fingering weight yarn).

into-the-whirled-roving-walla-wallaInto the Whirled – We have our first batch of Roving from Into the Whirled, and it’s just as gorgeous as the yarn colors were! (But this time you get to spin it the way you’d like the colors to work together.) This Polwarth Combed Top takes the dye beautifully and the slight coarseness of the fiber makes it easy to spin. (Shown here in Walla Walla.)

Buttons – Lots more buttons and re-stocks from JHB and Buttons, Etc. You’ll find silver, gold, wooden, pewter, and coconut in all colors and sizes.

fibernymph-bounce-primordial-seaFibernymph Dye Works – Hand-dyed by Lisa in her Bounce yarn base, which is 80% Superwash Merino and 20% Nylon (perfect for socks, although these colors are also beautiful as shawls and scarves, too.) Shown here in Primordial Sea.

The Loopy Ewe Totes – more of our clear plastic totes in the Accessories size (for your scissors, stitchmarkers, point protectors, tape measures and darning needles), the Project Keeper size (big enough for yarn plus pattern – a great way to store future projects so you can remember what pattern you had in mind when you bought that yarn), and Red Project Totes (great for one-skein projects like socks, mitts, hats and small shawls).

Have fun checking out the new things, and we’ll be on the webcam tomorrow, packing your orders up!

Fibernymph, Woolen Mill Street, Offhand Designs and More!

We have plenty of beautiful things that just went up on the website for you tonight. Time to spoil yourself with something new, right? We added in:

Wooden Sock Blockers – they’re back! Since leaving St. Louis (where my husband had the machine to make these), we’ve had to find a new person to make them and a new person to finish them. We still have them cut in St. Louis, and now Elf Michael is doing the finish work. (Luckily, he is also a woodworker, in addition to being a top-notch Loopy Elf!) We’ll be able to continue to put stock up regularly now that we have this all worked out. I know that some of you have been waiting a long time for them to come back.

Fibernymph Dye Works – Lisa sent us her famous self-striping line this time, and each one is more beautiful than the next. Since striping yarns are so labor-intensive, we can only get them in rotation with her other awesome lines, but we will carry them as often as we can get them. Self-striping yarns look particularly great in socks, cowls, hats, mittens and gloves. (Shown here in Home for Christmas.)

Twentyseven27 Soap – the Christmas scents are back, as well as my all time favorite (Almond Poppyseed). Look for: Cinnamon Sugar, Chocolate Peppermint, Jasmine Rose, Cherry Almond, and Bergamont Tea Tree. It would be cute to make mittens or gloves for someone, and then tuck in this hand-made soap as well.

Woolen Mill Street – Christina has sent a gorgeous batch of her 100% Superwash fingering weight. You’ll see some tribute colors to some of your favorite TV shows and movies in there, which is double fun! These colors would be beautiful for socks, but also in shawls (multi-color shawls like Lintilla, Hitchiker, and 22.5 degrees), two color shawls where you pick a multi for one part and a solid for another (like Pamuya) and how about the cute Hitchhands pattern for mittens and Hitchhat for your head? (Shown here in Jack O’Neill).

Soak – We have new Travel Kits that contain 8 mini packets of Soak. Each packet will do 2 washes, so it’s a great way to take along soap for your handknits. (Or include one packet with each handknit you gift to someone). We also have the new Soak Handmaid – a 3 oz. bottle of their luxurious hand creme, perfect for popping in your purse or knitting bag.

Offhand Designs – A new batch of beautifully made knitting bags. We have them in the Scottie, the Marcella, and the Zhivago. It has been awhile since we’ve had this line and we had such fun unpacking the boxes and oohing and aahing over the pretty fabrics and great styles. (Shown here in the Marcella style with the Saratoga fabric).

ChiaoGoo – a re-stock on all of our ChiaoGoo needles.

Ruffled Neckwrap Pattern – for those of you who emailed about where to get this cute cowl after I blogged and linked to it last week, we now have the pattern available. This is a great pattern for a quick and easy worsted weight cowl (out of Malabrigo Worsted, Spud and Chloe Sweater, Madelinetosh Pashmina Worsted, Dream in Color Classy, etc.)

A big HAPPY THANKSGIVING to those of you in the U.S.! We hope you have a wonderful week with familiy and friends. When we think about what we’re thankful for, all of YOU are always at the top of our list (inside the U.S and out!). We never forget that we’re dependent on you for this business, and we are always happy to have you here.

We do have special Holiday Hours this week – the brick and mortar shop (and phones) will be closed Wednesday and Thursday for our Thanksgiving holiday. We’ll be open in-store and packing up orders on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. I also have two new woven scarves to share with you on Wednesday’s blog, and a great muffin recipe for you on Friday’s blog.

Lorna’s Laces – Shepherd Sock and Solemate re-stocked. (Shown below in Circus.)

Knitter’s Pride Needles – re-stocks in circulars, double points, single points, single-point needle sets, interchangeable sets, interchangeable cables, and DPN sets.

ChiaoGoo Needles – all sizes re-stocked.

Magma Pattern Holders – re-stocked in small and large sizes.

TwentySeven 27 Soap – re-stocked in Almond Poppyseed, Bergamot Tea Tree, Chai, Eucalyptus Mint, Rosemary Lemon and Sandalwood.

Team Spirit – re-stocked in the sport weight (purple/white, green/yellow, navy/orange, black/orange, green/white, and the solids that match the Team Spirit line.) This is a fun line to use for your sports-loving family and friends. Great for socks, gloves, hats and scarves!

Loopy Ewe Embroidered Drawstring Project Bags – we have extra bags from our Anniversary Kits this past August, and many of you have asked for them! The muslin bags are embroidered and are 11.5″ high and 9.75″ wide. Perfect for sock, scarf, glove and hat projects.

Heart Stitchmarkers – we’re now stocking the cute heart stitchmarkers from our Anniversary Kits as well. We love this pack of 6 crocheted hearts by Lantern Moon, and they contribute 5% of their gross profits from this package to the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health in support of women’s heart health research, which is a cause that we are glad to support.

Soakbox Kits – The first batch of these flew out the door and we’ve been waiting for more. This cute kit comes with a skein of Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sport, a 3 oz. bottle of Soak (great travel size), a 3 oz. bottle of Handmaid lotion for your hands, a coordinating bottle of fingernail polish, and a pattern for fingerless mitts. Each kit/pattern is different. (Shown here in Lace Kelly).

Have fun checking out the new things and we’ll get your orders packed up and shipped off tomorrow!
