Loopy Academy Winter Break and a CONTEST!

What are you and Loopy up to during this month of Winter Break from Loopy Academy? We noticed our Little Loopy doing some selfies today and thought we’d share them with you.

He picked out new yarn for a project.

He checked out the stock room and contemplated opening up the new deliveries.

He went to the library “to study”, but I can see that he’s looking at novels, not instructional books.

And he broke his dieting resolution, by stopping by Mary’s Mountain Cookies on the way back from the library.

All in all, no resolution-keeping and no studying going on around him this month.
He needs Loopy Academy’s Second Semester to start up soon and keep him a bit more occupied.

What are you and your Loopy up to this month? Leave a comment or email us a photo (support@theloopyewe.com) and we’ll use the random generator to pick a winner next week. What do you win? A $50 Loopy Gift Certificate, which you can use now, or spend on Loopy Academy projects in a couple of weeks, or save for a rainy day!

Sheri and Mischievous Loopy

P.S. The final winner from our second Random Acts of Kindness blog post in December is Jan in VA who wins one of our Blue Sky Alpacas kits! (Let us know which one you’d like, Jan!)

  1. Loopy and I have been organizing my queue and favorites on Ravelry so we will have some great ideas ready when Semester 2 starts!
I’ve also been trying to finish some WIP’s so that the needles will be cleared for February. Little Loopy keeps trying to distract me and looking through my stash for those loopy kisses. I think he needs a new Box of Fun in the house!

  2. I’m gearing up to start a sweater. Using my first Amy Herzog CustomFit pattern, the new Charlie’s Cardigan. Measurements and swatches done, pattern printed and will cast on tonight!

  3. I am currently missing my loopy, and knitting. My 1yo daughter claimed him, and they are currently enjoying a nap!

  4. Actually I need a project! I am looking forward to the next semester of Loopy Academy. (Well I have projects going but feeling uninspired.) So bring on the homework!

  5. Loopin’ along with my project for Peace and Comfort whilst waiting for Second Semester! And thinking I can’t wait to wear my first semester gear. It’s summer here, so the wait is long.

  6. Today Loopy is joining me at work. He’ll help me out as a long-term sub in Middle School English after we’re done with my usual Math classes. I’ll probably have to check his corrections on the Julius Caesar assignments. This afternoon, we’ll be looking at Cyrano de Bergerac. He’ll be a well-read sheep by the end of it!

  7. We are working on a slouch hat using creamy white angora and a merino mix which is magnificent to work with. The bloom is just beautiful.

  8. It’s cold here, so I’m knitting some gift hats that I didn’t get done for Christmas and anxiously awaiting the second semester of our freshman Loopy Academy year!

  9. I’m working on a sweater – Nanuk – and the Knit Purl Hunter scarf knit-a-long. On Monday the Ysolda Teague mystery shawl begins so lot’s to keep up with.

  10. I’m trying to get more organized so I’m playing around with using Google Keep for my to-do lists, and reading Getting Things Done

  11. Loopy and I are just taking it easy and thinking about what project we should start next. Have to start next year,s gifts soon

  12. Today I am working on some socks for a 12 knits in 2015 along. I want able to participate in the last Loopy Academy but looking forward to the next semester 🙂

  13. I think Loopy’s activity level (or lack thereof) is contagious! Post the holidays (we celebrate through January 6), it’s been pattern gathering and lots of dreaming (of BRIGHT colors) and changing my projects for my Semester 1 re-try–a dozen times! Come on Semester I need to to arrive already! Lee

  14. Loopy and I had a bad case of start-itis this month, and cast on for three pairs of socks, all of which are half-finished. Yesterday, we cast on for a scarf (from the September Dream Club), becuase it was cold, and we needed a new one. On Saturday, we have a sampler quilt class to attend.

  15. Loopy and I have been clearing out old “assignments.” We have been clearing up WIPs by working on 2014 WIPs and then we will work on 2013, 2012, etc… Also, we have been working on going exercising more than the once a week we have been doing for the past 6 weeks. So that we will be ready for the new semester!

  16. Loppy and I are working on our charity knitting to get the year off to a good start.

We are also working on clearing our needles of old projects from last year.

  17. I’m madly trying to finish up a Kate Davies sweater I’m knitting for myself before the end of the month, then I want to focus on some baby knitting. My daughter and her husband are expecting their first baby in July!

  18. New year: finished my first baby sock for my friend’s son, a cowl (late gift) and am working on a pair of red socks in a rib and heart cable pattern. Happy New Year!

  19. I wound all my hanks and skeins into yarn cakes so when I am ready to start a new project I can just pick up and go.

  20. I am working on Sally Melville’s L’Enveloppe. Very challenging pattern. Wish Loopy would start knitting for me.

  21. I’m making 3 pairs of pop top mittens with stash yarn for a friend. I feel so virtuous I might just have to buy something for myself off my wishlist. 🙂

  22. I am working on my Paintbox Log Cabin Blanket that I started a couple of years ago….and contemplating doing a Lizard Ridge……

  23. After several very difficult months, I’m just taking it easy on myself. I had been working on green Fable Fibers socks for St. Paddy’s Day, so I’m hoping to finish the second one up by the end of the month.

  24. I am working through my pregnancy sickness & slowly getting my knitting mojo back so that baby girl can have hand knits when she arrives in about 10 weeks! I really need to pick up a Little Loopy to entertain me! Maybe he will sneak into my next order.

  25. Loopy is lots of help on frosty mornings when I have to feed the horses! Mostly he helps me pick out which hat and socks and other woolies I will need to wear, then wishes me luck as I head out into the cold. 🙂

  26. Loopy and I are pulling out our hair/ fleece trying to get bookkeeping done for my clients! We need a great knitting project to stay sane.

  27. Loopy is helping me paint! Well, really he is keeping me company while I recover from painting with some relaxing knitting time.

  28. I enjoyed wearing the cowl from first semester so much that I’m making a couple more during the break. Thanks so much for the nudge to try new projects.

  29. I am finishing up a couple things that got stuffed in a basket before the holidays. I am itching for something new, though.

  30. I’m looking forward to semester 2 of Loopy Academy. In the meantime, I’m keeping busy with January Mystery Knit Along projects with some of my favorite designers.

  31. I am currently knitting a scarf in a Knit-a-Long with knitpurlhunter and at the same time working on a shawl/scarf/cowl for my mother. Miss you, Loopy!!! Looking forward to the next semester and the next challenges!

  32. I’m working on Christmas presents. Yes that would be 2014 Christmas presents! I have trained friends and family not to expect them until after the holidays. Maybe I’m a bad person, but it sure reduces my stress load.
