Thank you for all of your great book and movie suggestions in last week’s Anniversary contest! I have discovered the benefits of books on tape (or, I guess they call it audiobooks now. Books on tape is so yesterday…) I can walk or knit while listening to good books, and now I have a whole list of titles to explore. We used the Random Number Generator to pick two winners from last week’s comments. We’re sending Sixth Anniversary Kits to Dianne in IN and Leah in MO. Congratulations to you two!
We have a new contest for you again today. (Do you like the weekly contests during our Anniversary Month? We do!) This week’s question is an easy one, I think. What item have you knit or crocheted the most? Socks? Shawls? Sweaters? Blankets? Scarves? Mittens and Gloves? Hats and Cowls? Leave the answer in the comments below and we’ll draw the winner next week. I have two skeins of Wollmeise Lace that we’ll be sending to two winners!
I went to Ravelry to see what the answer would be for me. I’ve missed photoing a few things, but most of what I have knit is on my Rav project page. The answer? Still overwhelmingly socks! Some 60 pairs of socks, about 25 shawls, 30 scarves, 15 gloves/mitts, 10 hats/cowls, a few blankets, a few sweaters, and a few felted bags from the early days. How about you? (You don’t have to give exact numbers – just tell me what you think you have knit the most!)

Socks, with fingerless mitts following closely behind.
I have to answer shawls and throws, one shawl I use as a table cloth
Its a tie between shawls and scarves!
Baby stuff!
socks…overwhelmingly socks. The funny thing is that I like making them more then wearing them. Probably should consider gifting some. But I think the reason I like making them for myself is I have itty bitty feet and they go fast! And it is such fun working with patterned yarns!!!
Either baby blankets or scarves, it’s a close one.
You know, I can never have too many socks but hats are starting to rule out the socks, something about how you can really spruce up the simple construction with colorwork, cables, and lace and it sits prominently on the head rather than tucked away under pantslegs and inside shoes.
I have to say I have knit / crochet shawls the most at this point. Unfortunately I haven’t been active on Ravelry until recently as far as posting projects so I had to go from memory lol
Shawls for me. Sweaters for my DDs. Cowls and fingerless mitts for gifts.
Hats…. definitely hats 🙂
I’m definitely a sock junkie! I always have at least two pairs on needles – one mindless plain “vanilla” sock and one that requires thinking. If I were stranded on a desert island, these are the two kinds of projects I would want with me!
I think I have mostly knitted shawls/shawlettes and socks. I just finished Ann Hanson’s maplewing using wollmeise lace…I LOVE it!
Socks overall, but lately it’s been shawls. 3 of them for camp loopy and some before that.
Socks were my most knitted items but shawls are getting up there too!
I’m pretty sure it would be socks, shawls and sweaters in that order.
I’m not sure that my project page reflects it, but I’d say scarves. I give a lot as gifts. And baby blankets. Although I’ve knit 3 shawls in the last 2 camps!
Cowls followed by mittens then hats.
Probably socks. And I never knew I’d made as many as I have until I started making a blanket out of the leftovers and thought about all the socks I’d made.
Has to be socks – I’ve probably knit close to 25 pair. They’re something I wear daily during the cold weather (well, as cold as it gets in the SF Bay Area). With so many patterns to choose from, and such luscious yarns that you entice me with, it continues to be fun.
Hum. I seem to swing the extremes. #1 for me is hats, followed by #2 sweaters/cardigans. If time and money weren’t an issue, I’d knit sweaters all day every day!!
Lately it has been mostly shawls.
Sweaters (and vests) are at the top of my list, followed by shawls. I have a ton of patterns and yarns for socks and mittens, but sweaters keep sliding up to the top of the queue!
I’ve knit more socks overall, but lately I’ve been knitting more small shawls that can be done with one skein of sock yarn.
I’ve knit a lot of baby bibs and baby booties as gifts for friends. They are generally appreciated and are quick to knit. (I like the satisfaction of finishing up a project.)
I think I’m just about tied between socks and shawls for the items I’ve knitted most. Unfortunately though my project to do list just keeps getting longer faster than my already done list.
Socks – socks – socks!! With shawls a distant second.
For the last two years it’s been shawls! Before that it was probably socks.
Definitely shawls, gloves, then hats for me. I still have yet to knit a sock, but it’s going to happen soon…
Definitely socks, but I think it’s because I have a short attention span.
Shawls, then socks!
For me, it would be shawls.
Socks, definitely socks.
I have done mostly scarfs.
Socks and more socks.
Socks. Without a doubt, I knit socks the most. They’re small, travel friendly, and the possibilities are endless.
I wish the answer was socks…but lately all I seem to be knitting are baby blankets! I must be friends with a hutch of bunnies…
I would say cowls and fingerless gloves. I did the 11 fingerless gloves for 2011 challenge on Ravelry last year, and made more than the 11 needed for the challenge!
Right now it’s scarves, but I expect it to be socks very soon! I’ve recently learned and love them! 🙂
Sweaters. The single pattern I have knit the most is the Wonderful Wallaby. 51 in various sizes.
Mine is still socks, but other totals are beginning to catch up!
Socks. Definitely socks.
Definitely socks and shawls. Hopefully more sweaters soon.
socks!!
Shawls and cardigans!
Hats and dishcloths for me.
Scarves – but I’m moving up to shawls!
Socks!!
Socks!!
Shawls.
Socks and Shawls.
