Greetings Special Yarn Agents! At the risk of disrupting your July Mission, we now reveal your assignment for Loopy Spy Camp – August. It may seem early to bring up the new challenge. We know that your current mission is newly underway. We just want to ensure you all receive your yarn/tools in plenty of time to facilitate a successful August Mission.
Remember, we love all your debriefs. Hearing about your progress, adventures, occasional mis-adventures, and successes is one of the highlights of running this spy ring. We are here to help, so keep the intel coming! If you haven’t started Loopy Spy Camp – July, there is still plenty of time to join in the fun. Alternatively, feel free to jump in for the August mission! Camp Loopy Spy Camp is a virtual summer knit/crochet camp. We provide monthly challenges, a community with which to to puzzle out each month’s mission and rewards for completing challenges through the summer months. Details can be found in the Original Loopy Spy Camp Post.
August Camp Mission
Today, we bring you our briefing on the August Spy Camp Mission. Strap in, Special Yarn Agents, as we enjoy a month of International Intrigue. We hope that this month’s spy camp experience will hone your international knit/crochet espionage skills. We also hope it will instill the values of integrity, perseverance, and global citizenship in each of you. Go out and steal the knit/crochet intelligence of another country!
This month is all about safeguarding international security and infiltrating other nations. This will be accomplished only through hard work, cunning, and unwavering determination to complete our knit/crochet missions. The challenge will be to introduce an element of ‘international’ into your project. This can be through any of the following (or ask us and we’ll let you know if your connection will work!):
- Use a pattern or yarn (brand, base or colorway) that includes the name or embodies the spirit of a country other than that of your own origin
- Select a pattern designed by someone who does not share your nationality
- Utilize a technique or style that invokes the name or essence of a nation that is not your own (e.g. Portuguese knitting, the Russian join, or an Icelandic bind off)
August Spy Camp Week
We are offering a 15% discount on the yarn you will use for your Loopy Spy Camp – August project, when you purchase your yarn from The Loopy Ewe between July 9-16, 2024.
Please leave an order note indicating that this is for your August Spy Camp project and telling us which specific yarn will be used. If there is not a note, we won’t be able to apply the discount. If, in your excitement to get your order in, you miss the order notes, please email us at support@theloopyewe.com as soon and possible. We will make sure the discount is applied.
Also, please note that you are welcome to use Loopy credit OR the discount. We are not able to add both. If we see that you’ve used Loopy credit, we will not add an additional discount.

To receive Camp Credit for your project, please make sure you check these boxes (also outlined in the Original Spy Camp BLOG Post):
- Yarn for the August project must be purchased from The Loopy Ewe July 9, 2024, or later.
- Your project must use the yardage you are hoping to meet. Check out the Original Spy Camp Blog Post for details. Yardage is for yarn HELD SINGLY (or x2, if held double).
- Your project must be completed entirely in the Month of August (started on or after August 1, 2024 and completed by August 31, 2024).
- A photo of the completed project must be emailed to us (support@theloopyewe.com) with all required debriefing information. Remember to include your name, yarn used, yardage, pattern & designer name, explanation of your link to August’s mission. Submit this by September 1, 2024. Please do not just send a link to your Ravelry project. That requires extra sleuthing on our part.
Community Briefing/Debriefing
Need ideas? Color opinions? Project encouragement? Join us on Ravelry in the Loopy Groupies. We will create a Loop Spy Camp – August specific thread soon. We all enjoy brainstorming and seeing what everyone else is working on. If you are local or just visiting the area, we’d love to see your projects! Your works in progress AND finished projects inspire us!
As we reflect on this exciting August mission, remember that the world of espionage never sleeps, and neither do some knitters/crocheters. Whether you’re decrypting (pattern) codes, analyzing (yarn store) surveillance footage, or mastering the art of disguise, each step prepares you for the challenges that lie ahead in the realm of international yarn intrigue.
Stay vigilant, stay sharp, and always trust your crafting instincts. The August mission awaits, and the world needs yarn heroes like you to safeguard its yarn-y secrets.
Until next time, agents!
