Camp Loopy 2024 – Spy Camp!

We are brimming with excitement to blow the cover on this year’s Camp Loopy theme – Spy Camp. With the camp theme declassified, we can’t wait to brief you on the details! This summer, let us take you on a 3-month adventure filled with missions, mystery, and good spirited espionage. Join us as a Special Yarn Agent completing each month’s mission. Camp Loopy’s virtual summer knit/crochet camp comes with monthly challenges, a community with which to to puzzle out each month’s mystery and rewards for completing your missions through the summer.

Camp Loopy Overview

As last year, we aim to be as inclusive as possible, so Spymaster Loopy will be running two Camper categories again. All Campers can enjoy each other’s company and will complete the same basic monthly challenges, but yardage requirements and rewards will differ as described below. We hope you’ll participate at the level that works for you!

• Sleep-Away Campers will complete 3 missions, each consisting of one project per month. By the end of August, finishers must have completed at least one 800+ yard project, one 600+ yard project and one 400+ yard project. One project must be completed in each month (June, July, and August). You can pick which month you complete each yardage requirement, and you can always go over on yardage (yes to 3 projects of 800+ yards), but you must meet the minimum to qualify as a finisher of sleep-away camp. If you know your August will be busy, you might try to get the 800+ yardage project done in June!
• Day Campers will complete 3 missions, each using 200 yards or more per mission to earn rewards. We welcome you in discussions and sharing your projects with less yardage than this, but you will be ineligible for rewards. Participate this summer with less stress knowing the yardage requirements are lower. Were you aiming for sleep-away camp status but July got busy and you could only get a small project done? No worries – you can still be part of the fun!

June Camp Loopy Mission

In June, your mission is to go undercover as a Double Agent. We will focus on relating our projects back to all things double, duplicitous or paired. We envision projects that include double knitting, paired items (socks, leg warmers, etc. that meet the yardage), use of double pointed needles, yarns that include or allude to double in the name or type (think DK/ double knitting weight, 2-ply, Wollmeise Twin, etc), patterns that include or allude to double in the name or designer, or projects that remind you of your own favorite double agent in some way. It’s fairly wide open, but we’d like to hear how your project relates to the Double Agent theme! These connections are a big part of the fun!

The Knitty Gritty

• We offer a 15% discount on yarn purchased for your June project during Camp Week. Leave an order note letting us know which yarn is for Camp – we will not apply a discount if we do not see an order note (or an email requesting it if you happen to miss leaving a note in your ordering excitement). The discount will be applied on our end after the order comes through. June’s Camp Week runs May 14-21, 2024. For free shipping in the U.S., please make sure your discount won’t take you below the $125 level for free shipping.
  Note – we are not able to combine the discount with the use of any Loopy credits. You are welcome to choose to use the discount or your Loopy Credits. If your order comes through and you have applied your credit, we won’t add a further discount. We also cannot further discount items already on sale.
• Yarn for the June project needs to be purchased from The Loopy Ewe on May 14, 2024 or later.
• The project should not be started before June 1st, 2024, and must be completed by June 30th, 2024.
• You must debrief us on your successful mission by submitting a photo of the completed project. Email this to support@theloopyewe.com by midnight, July 1, 2024. The email must also provide the following information:
  • Pattern & designer used
  • Yarn used & yardage – yardage is for yarn held singly (we know, this is a ‘double’ month, but if you hold yarn double, the yardage that counts is still half the amount of yarn used)
  • An explanation of how your project fits with June’s theme
  • If available, we’d love a link to your Ravelry (or other) project page! Please DO NOT just send us a link to your Ravelry page. It takes a tremendous amount of work to track everyone, and if you can just put your information in an email to us that helps a lot.

Rewards

ALL rewards will be sent out after Camp Loopy Completion (late September is our goal). This gives us time to check your Bona Fides. Please do not email us in July asking for June’s reward.

Sleep-Away Campers will receive a reward for each month that they complete and a specially-dyed skein for completing all 3 months.

• Complete 2 months: Stitchmarker Set + Little Squirrel Yarn Mini Skein
• Complete all 3 months: Stitchmarker Set + Little Squirrel Yarn Mini Skein + Little Squirrel Yarns Exclusively dyed Full Skein

Day Campers will receive rewards based on the number of months they complete

• Complete 2 month: Stitchmarker Set
• Complete 3 months: Stitchmarker Set + Little Squirrel Yarn Mini Skein

Camp Loopy Swag

• A limited number of Loopy Spy Camp Kit Tins are available this year! These fun notion tins house all your Special Yarn Agent Essentials – stitch markers to scissors to magnifying monocle. . . and much more! You will want them for every project bag (and these are so stinking cute we may have to come up with a regular Loopy kit set).

• Camp Stickers are back – 3″ x 3″ vinyl, and perfect for your water bottle, computer case, or any place you like to sticker!
