Rolling the Dice (and a CONTEST!)

Are you working on Knighthood in our Knights of the Loopy Table challenge this semester? (It’s never to late to join in! You get points for finishing WIPs, doing new projects, and using Loopy stash. Check this blog post for all the details and then jump in!) We’re also talking about our Knights Projects in our Loopy Groupie group on Ravelry. Pop over and join in on that as well, if you’d like some extra support and encouragement as you work on your projects.

Do you need help figuring out what to knit next? Not because you have no idea, but because you have too many ideas? Get a pair of dice and see what comes up. (No dice? Here’s a site that rolls for you.)

First roll (add the two dice numbers together):

2: Socks
3: Hat
4: Scarf
5: Cowl
6: Shawl
7: Sweater
8: Mittens
9: Fingerless Mitts
10: Vest
11: Blanket
12: Gloves

Second roll (add the two dice numbers together):

2: WIP
3: New
4: Stash
5: WIP
6: New
7: Stash
8: WIP
9: New
10: Stash
11: WIP
12: New

I got a 9 on the first roll (meaning I should do Fingerless Mitts) and a 10 on the second roll (meaning I should find a skein in my stash for the mitts.)

Now, you can do what the dice tell you to do – knit a pair of Fingerless Mitts with one of your Loopy stash yarns. Or – if you found yourself disappointed (thinking, “Shoot – I wanted to get new yarn and make a sweater”) – then you know what you really want to do, and you can go buy yarn and start a new sweater. ๐Ÿ™‚

We have two more books to give away again today!

Leave a comment below and tell me what the dice rolls told you to work on. We’ll randomly pick two winners next Monday for the books above. (Let us know in the comments if you have a preference between the two.) And come be a Loopy Knight with us!

Sheri and The Loopy Ewe Crew

P.S. Last week’s book winners were Amy Schulze and Kathy Blumenstock. Please email us ( to confirm your addresses so we can get these shipped out to you!

  1. I got a 10 and a 7, so a vest from stash, which sounds like a good idea.

I already have the knitted lace book, but the accessories book would be great.

  2. I got vest and WIP. A vest is probably one of the only things I DON’T have on my needles!! I love the Fresh book!

  3. I got a 11 on the first roll (blanket) and a 9 on the second roll (new yarn). How did it know I have been looking at blanket patterns?

  4. I ‘rolled’ a 9 and 10 also. But I already have a 10 and 5; a 7 and 5;

    3 and 2, and 2 and 5.

    Knitted Lace .

  5. Rolled hat and WIP. Guess that means I should finish off the hat on my needles just waiting for the ends to be done. Then find something new to knit.

The accessories book, but either one would be fine.

  6. Fun! I rolled a 7 and an 8. Yes, I do have an unfinished sweater in my wip’s! Now as long as I can stay out of my knitacoma, I will be all set!
    Tanis Gray’s book looks cool.

  7. I rolled a 9 (fingerless mitts) and a 7 (stash). Not keen on fingerless mitts so I’ll be rolling again. LOL! Would love to win either book but given a choice, I’d pick Tanis Gray’s. Thanks for a fun post!

  8. Right now I’m trying to finish my fabric Loopy Academy projects, so the dice didn’t tell me anything (second project is ready to pin and quilt; third is planned and waiting for payday to order fabric). This can, however, be easily adapted so I’ll probably steal the idea when I’m trying to decide what to work on next.

  9. Love all the ideas you all keep sending our way! This is so fun! Iโ€™d love to win one of the books, especially the knitted accessories one!!!.

  10. My dice rolls told me to make socks using stash, which is funny because that’s what I’m currently knitting. Maybe I will cast on another pair when these are finished.

  11. Aaah, mine said to knit fingerless mitts from the stash too! I really like this idea, I can never decide what I’m going to start next. LOL I really like the knitted accessories book, also. Maybe there’s fingerless gloves in there for me to start? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  12. Shawl. Yep I think I like this. With the wet terrible weather we are having a nice yummy shawl is just what I want to work on.

  13. Well, no need to roll the dice…I cast on a new project and have several others in the line up for my Christmas knitting. Perhaps after Christmas, I will be able to roll the dice and knit a FUN project for me! Both those books are fantastic. So nice of you to do these give-aways.

  14. My rolls said I need to work on a cowl/wip. I was fixing to say that I don’t have a cowl that needs finishing but I do. I have a Leftovers Cowl started that I really want to finish. So . . as soon as I get to a stopping spot on my project I’m working on, I’m going to work on my Leftovers Cowl.

  15. Mittens from stash. I wonโ€™t knit mittens as itโ€™s too warm here, but whatever I knit will be from stash.

  16. I don’t need to roll dice to figure out my next project(s). I have been planning what I am going to take with me while I travel for a conference this weekend and I will be working on a WIP scarf for my future brother-in-law (Dudester), fingerless mitts (Resonator, new yarn) for a dear friend, and a shawl/scarf (Menagerie, stash) for my sister. Way too much for a 3-day conference, but at least I can get them started with the hope to finish all three by Christmas.
    Lace, lace all the way.

  17. I’d love to win 3 Skeins or Less – Fresh Knitted Accessories. Lots of patterns, great designers!

I rolled shawl and stash. Too bad it wasn’t WIP – I have a shawl in hibernation that needs to get finished.

  18. The Universe is against me. Really really really against me! 11/12? A blanket from new yarn. Right, like I have the time or money for that? I think I’ll keep rolling ’til I get a 6/2,5,8 or 11. That’s what I’m working on now.

  19. Sweater, WIP.

    I’d definitely prefer Knitted Lace.

I wish I could come to Loopy Knight. Alas, you’re too far away.

  20. My roll (6, 11) got me a WIP shawl. I have several to pick from. I would be interested in the accessories book.

  21. My roll said I should knit a sweater that is currently a WIP. Good news, I have options. Bad news, too many options. I also have three kid sweaters I need to do before Christmas and one adult one. I’ve already swatched for the adult one. I guess that makes it a WIP!

  22. I love games!!! So I rolled a 5 and a 7. Hmmm. Cowl from stash. That just might play nice with the yarn I ordered at the beginning of the Knights challenge….

    Both books look lovely.

  23. I rolled WIP sweater… this like a magic 8 ball? Can the answer be hazy? I don’t have a sweater on the needles, but I keep thinking about making one…

    I have no book preference.

  24. I got mittens from stash. It looks like the Fresh Knitted Accessories has mittens on the cover, so that would be my preference.

  25. Rolled 7 and 6 – apparently I must start a new sweater! As soon as my current WIP cardigan is done, I might just do that ๐Ÿ™‚

The Knitted Lace book looks awesome.

  26. Well, the dice said I should be making a scarf from new stash, but I decided yesterday my next project will be a pair of mitts!

Iโ€™d like to be in the drawing for the accessories book.

  27. Mine told me Socks from WIP, which is funny because I don’t know how to do socks, so I definitely don’t have a WIP. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think I’ll do a shawl or sweater from stash because I have some very lovely TLE yarns I really want to use.

    I’d love the lace book.

  28. I rolled 12(Gloves) & 11(WIP)… I’ve got some socks that are WIP.. close enough! I’d prefer the Knitted Accessories book ๐Ÿ™‚

  29. Well, I don’t need to roll as I have quite the list! Thus far planned, from stash, is Enchanted Mesa, Leftie, Brickless and who knows what else! Also, socks for DH as I think he’s put holes in all of his!

  30. I rolled a 4 (scarf) and a 7 (stash). Love the idea!

I’m a beginning knitter so I would love to win Fresh Knitted Accessories!
