Anniversary Contest, Hedgehog, Magpie and More!

Our twelfth anniversary has rolled around and we are delighted to be celebrating it with you.

So many of you have been with us for all 12 years, while others of you discovered us just this month. We appreciate ALL of you and are happy to be celebrating creativity, inspiration and YOU, every single day. You bring joy to our lives, and we hope we bring joy to your life as well. We have some cool things planned for you this fall and winter, as we jump into our 13th year with you.

We started Loopy the summer of 2006, in a little corner of our basement. Here were our first four in-store (in-house!) shoppers. And what you see behind them was really about the size of the entire Loopy corner. After a few months we had to take over the rest of the basement (right photo).

A year later, we moved the business out of the house and into office/retail space (left), and a year after that we expanded that space as well (right).

In 2011, we packed up all of our shelves and products, and moved the shop from St. Louis, MO to Fort Collins, CO. We thought it was a big move at the time. (Turns out, our move this past month was a way bigger move, even though we were just going a couple of blocks down the road!)

After two years in that space, we expanded once again and added our Loopy Fabric Shop in 2013, so we could share beautiful colors with quilters and sewists.

This year (actually, this month), we moved once again to add in more space, a ground floor location, and lots of windows. It’s hard to get photos of all of the aisles and corners of this new shop, but we’ll do a video sometime for you. And we swear we are never moving again. 🙂

Whether you’ve been with us for all 12 years, or just the last 12 days, we are happy to have you in our Loopy Family. It’s wonderful being surrounded by color and amazingly creative people every single day, both in person and online. We love doing this with you!

Now on to the Loopy Anniversary Celebration!

Anniversary yarn from our newest indie dyer: Dodecahedron is the name of our exclusive color from Hue Loco! This gorgeous color is dyed on their MCN base and comes with 412 yards in the skein. It would make a gorgeous sweater on its own, or mixed in with another MCN base for a Fade-type of sweater or scarf. (Of course you need a colorway called Dodecahedron in your yarn collection.)

Loopy Swag:
We’ve added in new white Loopy sweatshirts, insulated tumblers, sport bottles, and coffee mugs. I was gifted a coffee mug in this shape for Christmas and it is my favorite. Love the rounded, plump look! (Here is my favorite – along with the most amazing hot chocolate recipe…) Plus, this mug just feels nice in your hands. So I went looking specifically for this mug when it was time to order more for Loopy.

Anniversary Blog Contest: Want to win a $500 box of Loopy Love? Comment below to be entered into our Blog Anniversary Contest! Here’s the question: What has been your favorite project (yarn or fabric) so far this year?

Watch for more contests on our Instagram page, our Facebook page, and in our Ravelry group this month, too!

Monday Update:

Hedgehog Fibres Sock Yarn Each time we get yarn from an indie dyer, there is usually some variation in the colorway from the last time we received that same color. (Don’t worry – we do reshoot the color when it comes in different.) This batch just seems to have an extra special pop in all of the colors that are re-stocks and I am loving them even more! We have also added in their 10 new colors.

Hedgehog Fibres Merino DK
Have you tried Hedgehog DK? It is amazing. Feels good, looks good, and comes with 219 yards in the skein. We’ve re-stocked and added in the 10 new colors as well.

Magpie Fibers Swanky Sock
Do you need an end-of-the-summer present for yourself? This might be it. Swanky is 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere and 10% Nylon and the colors are beautiful.

Magpie Fibers Swanky DK
That same 80/10/10 Merino/Cashmere/Nylon base, but in their DK weight. If you’re gearing up for fall sweater knitting, this might be your perfect yarn!

Cavallini
– new designs in Mini Notebooks and Sticky Notes. We love Cavallini – they have cute designs, it feeds our notebook/pencil/sticky note addictions, and it makes it easy to take notes on your patterns and designs when you keep them in your project bags.

Cascade Superwash Sport, Ultra Pima, Hampton, Heritage Wave, Heritage Silk, 220 Superwash, 220, and 220 Superwash Aran re-stocks!

Our last Yarn Update included: Hue Loco Phyllis Sock, The Uncommon Thread Merino DK, Posh Fingering, Everyday Singles and Lush Worsted, Stonehedge Fiber Mill’s Shepherd Worsted, Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere, and their Sock-It Club July colorway.

Have fun shopping through the new things, tag us on Instagram when you knit up our beautiful new anniversary color, and pop over to the blog to get in on the big contest.

  1. Happy Anniversary! My favorite project this year has been the Free Your Fade I made for the June Camp Loopy. I loved the pattern, and the yarn (Magpie Fibers Swanky Sock) was a joy to knit with.

  2. Happy Anniversary and congrats on the move!

It has been a baby year, and I always love knitting for babies, hats booties, love in every stitch.

  3. Hi beautiful creative people well you were the very first people that I purchased yarn from and I was so touched and delighted by the handwritten note and little drawing that came with my precious package from Sheri. It flew all the way into my arms in Tasmania Australia, I opened it right there in the post office in our tiny little country town and showed it all off to one very jealous postmaster lady!! My absolute favourite is my Jilly Dream in Colour – Mountain Wildflowers. Thanks again for this opportunity and I can’t wait to get some more yarn in the future. Big love from Nicole Schultz

  4. My favorite project has been the sockhead hat made from half balls of leftover sock yarn. May make another! Congratulations and thank you!

  5. Twelve years! How exciting. Congratulations. My favourite yarn is hedgehog, knitted into lovely warm socks and matching mittens. My kids seem to love these and wear them all through winter.

  6. I think my favorite thing is what I have on the needles now. A Multnomah shawl in the Canon Hand Dyes Williams Merino Gradient cake in “juicy fruit” that I am making in memory of a beautiful Ravelry friend who passed away in June. She was a prolific knitter of the Multnomah Shawl (having made at least a dozen) and this is the perfect tribute to her.

Congratulations Loopy on 25 years in the biz. It’s a testament to how wonderful you all are and the fabulous customer service and the attention to detail and the little rewards. Hope you are in business for long time to come.

  7. Congrats on 12 years!

My favorite project is a tie this year between the socks for my cousin and Close to You for his new bride that I gave them at their wedding

  8. My favorite project so far this year is a blanket I’m knitting for my grandson out of Three Irish Girls yarn. Pattern is Malt by Tin Can Knits and color is Rocketman.

  9. I first saw a skein of Uschitita on Ravelry and nearly melted at how beautiful the colors were! I looked all over to find some and the only place that had any in stock was Loopy Ewe. I placed a much larger order than I should have, but I don’t regret it since the yarn is stunning!
This was my first time shopping with Loopy Ewe and tge service was stellar! I will definitely be back to shop some more.

  10. My best friend (God bless her) has no crafty talent whatsoever! She tries to join in on group crafting, but gets bogged down by the simplest things. But she loves all things crafty and encourages others in their quests.
She loves anything I knit and as a reward, I knit her family of 7 matching hats for Christmas photos. They are all the same color, but different patterns so I didn’t get bored. The girls got berets and stocking hats with pompons while the boys got more of a skater type hat with some slouch in the back.
She loves them and tried to pay me for them, but I did it as a labor of love for her and her family. I only asked for a picture of them all together!

  11. Hue loco, dream in color shmooshy with cashmere, and hedgehog fibers are the most wonderful to work with. This year, I’ve especially enjoyed a number of fade scarves and shawls that work well with their colors.

  12. Autumn fusion shawl knit with zauber crazy ball and plucky such a fun construction and I learned how to do German short rows!

  13. Funny you have the close to you scarf in one of your links as that has been my most fun project this year as my 3 year old granddaughter saw a sample of it and said I want that. So of course I made it for her. She’s a pink girl so of course it is pink.

  14. I’m teaching myself Portuguese knitting, so my favorite project so far this year is the set of kids leg warmers I’m knitting that way. It’s fun to learn new things! I pulled and entire leg warmer and it was fast and fun!

  15. Happy Anniversary and Congrats on a successful move – your new space looks like a fiber nirvana! My favorite project this year has been my Sipila in Magpie Swanky Sock Velvet Underground (MC) and Pretty in Pink (CC). Was fun to knit, fits perfectly and after way to many years of knitting to count, I FINALLY learned about color dominance. win, win, win!!

  16. Happy Anniversary, The Loopy Ewe! You have surely come a long way from when you only stocked sock yarn! Here’s to another 12 years! My favorite project this year was knitting the Harlowe shawl/scarf for a friend. I might even make it again in the Dodecahedron Anniversary yarn!

  17. Happy 12th Anniversary and may your success keep you moving to bigger buildings!

My favorite project is yet to come in the form of a baby blanket that combines both material and crochet. I’ve always wanted to quilt and this project will make that happen. I’m just waiting on a sonogram to reveal the baby’s sex and I’ll be off to gather my supplies. Wish me luck!

  18. My favorite project this year was a top down tee pattern Derecho by Berroco. I thought it was going to be too big, but it fit just right!

  19. Believe it or not, my favorite project this year has been Stephen West’s ‘Garter Squoosh’. Knit two strands of worsted together forever until you have a blanket. For some reason I found this incredibly soothing, the end result is beautiful and so comfy. I used up 1/4 of my stash making it!

  20. My favorite project has been a Stephen West sweater as I can use lots of yarn and indulge in shopping for exactly the right skeins

  21. This year so far I think my favorite project has been the Cup of Tea socks I made out of The Uncommon Thread yarn in a pretty color that I know my mom will love. She has a big oncological surgery coming up and I wanted her to have some super special socks for her recovery. I look at them every day and feel like all that love I’ve knitted into these socks will make everything turn out okay. Because that’s what knitting does.

  22. Happy Annuversary! My favorite project this year is what I am knitting now – a Mayes scarf by Cecelia Campochiaro from her Sequence Knitting book. The pattern is simple, beautiful, and mesmerizing to knit. A perfect summer knit.

  23. My favorite project is the shawl I started in Noro yarn.no pattern, just making up as I go along so it’s fun to knit on.

  24. Favorite project has been Moises’ Washington Nationals Rally Rag (aka as a ‘cuddly’ or ‘lovey’)!

  25. My favorite knit this year so far was the Impressions Shawl by Helen Stewart. A total joy from start to finish!

  26. My favorite project is the Harry Potter Hufflepuff scarf I’m working on for my niece. The first of many house scarves I expect to make for my nieces and nephews.

  27. My favorite project this year was Helen Stewart’s Impressionist Shawl. I loved it so much that I made two. One for my mom, and one for me!

  28. I’m still working on my favorite project of the year. I learned double knitting and I’m working on Corvus by Alasdair Post-Quinn for my daughter. I’m knitting it out of Cascade 220.

Congratulations on the move and the Anniversary!

  29. My favorite project so far this year has been a toss up between my Luwan sweater and the Shelburne mittens. Congratulations on twelve successful years! I ❤️ The Loopy Ewe

  30. I finished this sock yarn sweater for my little boy last month called Hide and Seek. It has cables and stripes and little pockets. He wore it last weekend even though it was a wool sweater and then hopped into a kiddie pool with it on. It is already super loved!

  31. I have made many things with Wollmeise sock yarn, but this year I fell in love with the DK weight. I needed an easy knit to help with pt, and now the whole family is getting scarves.

  32. My favorite project/yarn so far this year is a pair of socks that I just started. The yarn is from Knit Circus, in the Greatest of Ease base; the color is called Mischief Managed. I really like the way the gradations in color are working out.

  33. I think my favorite project so far this year was knitting a lot of rose city roller socks on my two week road trip. My favorite pair were made from Hue Loco yarn!

  34. I’d have to say my Zigfinity Scarf. It’s my first crochet project, since the scarf I bumbled through when I was a child. I also like the Garnstudio Drops Baby Merino yarn a too. thanks for the giveaway. Happy Anniversary!

  35. Happy Anniversary!
My favorite yarn to work with is Blue Moon Fiber Arts. My favorite project to work on was the Sockhead Cowl.

  36. Happy Anniversary! My favorite project this year was my Carbeth sweater. I knit it from stash yarn that wasn’t great, and I’m thinking about what I could knit a second one with. (My favorite knitting experience was participating in Camp Loopy for the first time. What fun that’s added to my summer!)
