Our twelfth anniversary has rolled around and we are delighted to be celebrating it with you.
So many of you have been with us for all 12 years, while others of you discovered us just this month. We appreciate ALL of you and are happy to be celebrating creativity, inspiration and YOU, every single day. You bring joy to our lives, and we hope we bring joy to your life as well. We have some cool things planned for you this fall and winter, as we jump into our 13th year with you.
We started Loopy the summer of 2006, in a little corner of our basement. Here were our first four in-store (in-house!) shoppers. And what you see behind them was really about the size of the entire Loopy corner. After a few months we had to take over the rest of the basement (right photo).
A year later, we moved the business out of the house and into office/retail space (left), and a year after that we expanded that space as well (right).
In 2011, we packed up all of our shelves and products, and moved the shop from St. Louis, MO to Fort Collins, CO. We thought it was a big move at the time. (Turns out, our move this past month was a way bigger move, even though we were just going a couple of blocks down the road!)
After two years in that space, we expanded once again and added our Loopy Fabric Shop in 2013, so we could share beautiful colors with quilters and sewists.
This year (actually, this month), we moved once again to add in more space, a ground floor location, and lots of windows. It’s hard to get photos of all of the aisles and corners of this new shop, but we’ll do a video sometime for you. And we swear we are never moving again. 🙂
Whether you’ve been with us for all 12 years, or just the last 12 days, we are happy to have you in our Loopy Family. It’s wonderful being surrounded by color and amazingly creative people every single day, both in person and online. We love doing this with you!
Now on to the Loopy Anniversary Celebration!
Anniversary yarn from our newest indie dyer: Dodecahedron is the name of our exclusive color from Hue Loco! This gorgeous color is dyed on their MCN base and comes with 412 yards in the skein. It would make a gorgeous sweater on its own, or mixed in with another MCN base for a Fade-type of sweater or scarf. (Of course you need a colorway called Dodecahedron in your yarn collection.)
Loopy Swag: We’ve added in new white Loopy sweatshirts, insulated tumblers, sport bottles, and coffee mugs. I was gifted a coffee mug in this shape for Christmas and it is my favorite. Love the rounded, plump look! (Here is my favorite – along with the most amazing hot chocolate recipe…) Plus, this mug just feels nice in your hands. So I went looking specifically for this mug when it was time to order more for Loopy.
Anniversary Blog Contest: Want to win a $500 box of Loopy Love? Comment below to be entered into our Blog Anniversary Contest! Here’s the question: What has been your favorite project (yarn or fabric) so far this year?
Watch for more contests on our Instagram page, our Facebook page, and in our Ravelry group this month, too!
Monday Update:
Hedgehog Fibres Sock Yarn – Each time we get yarn from an indie dyer, there is usually some variation in the colorway from the last time we received that same color. (Don’t worry – we do reshoot the color when it comes in different.) This batch just seems to have an extra special pop in all of the colors that are re-stocks and I am loving them even more! We have also added in their 10 new colors.
Hedgehog Fibres Merino DK – Have you tried Hedgehog DK? It is amazing. Feels good, looks good, and comes with 219 yards in the skein. We’ve re-stocked and added in the 10 new colors as well.
Magpie Fibers Swanky Sock – Do you need an end-of-the-summer present for yourself? This might be it. Swanky is 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere and 10% Nylon and the colors are beautiful.
Magpie Fibers Swanky DK – That same 80/10/10 Merino/Cashmere/Nylon base, but in their DK weight. If you’re gearing up for fall sweater knitting, this might be your perfect yarn!
Cavallini – new designs in Mini Notebooks and Sticky Notes. We love Cavallini – they have cute designs, it feeds our notebook/pencil/sticky note addictions, and it makes it easy to take notes on your patterns and designs when you keep them in your project bags.
Our last Yarn Update included: Hue Loco Phyllis Sock, The Uncommon Thread Merino DK, Posh Fingering, Everyday Singles and Lush Worsted, Stonehedge Fiber Mill’s Shepherd Worsted, Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere, and their Sock-It Club July colorway.
Have fun shopping through the new things, tag us on Instagram when you knit up our beautiful new anniversary color, and pop over to the blog to get in on the big contest.

Congratulations Loopy Ewe! I have been a customer since 2008 and have loved every skein I have ever ordered. My favorite knitting projects this year have been my Eithne Shawl test knit (Pattern by Whirlsie’s Designs) and of course, socks.
My favorite project this year had been my Match & Move with Spice Schwammerl Wollmeise Pure and Copper Cloud LMFA Show Stopper. I’m still working on it, but I stop and admire these gorgeous yarns from TLE every time I pick it up! Happy Anniversary and wishing you many more!
My favorite project so far this year is Laura Aylor’s Harkening Hill that I made with one of my favorite yarns, Bamboo Pop. I was not happy with the fit, but I love the pattern and the color combo I used, so I took it apart and am making it again! Happy anniversary and congrats on the move!
Oh my goodness, that’s dedication to a pattern!
Hi and Happy Anniversary!
My favorite project so far this year has also been my most challenging. After seeing the pattern for PurlSoho’s Terrace wrap, I decided in January that I wanted to make this shawl in a happy yellow to wear with my dress to a wedding in March.
I ordered the recommended Cattail silk yarn in Golden Oak and was so excited at how beautiful and raw the 100% silk was. I immediately got started. And quickly discovered that silk does not work as quickly as wool. In March it was a total of 10 inches long..not even close to finished. An hour of work would add maybe a half inch in length.
It’s now July and I am about 2 1/2 feet into this shawl and I have never been happier. It is beautiful and luscious and will reach it’s full length (68″-72″) sometime next year. Just in time for another friend’s wedding.
I think my favorite project this year is the Copenhagen Calling Cowl. In fact, I’ve made 2 of them. Both went home with a daughter-in-law, so now I have to make one more.
Happy Anniversary. You just keep growing and growing!
This year I’ve become addicted to Brioche so all my favorite projects are brioche patterns (preferably with speckled yarns)
Happy anniversary!! My favorite project(s) this year has been all the indie dyed vanilla socks I’m making. I can’t wait until it’s cool enough to wear them!!
Happy Anniversary!
My favorite project this year has been mastering the most stitch and making blankets for my children.
Wow what memories…I have been following you since the corner in the basement! Was thrilled when you moved to Colorado…easier to get there from AZ! Congratulations on your 12th anniversary…Boy did that go by fast!
My favorite project is a fade shawl I am working on with Malabrigo, Mechita. Using 4 colors right now but thinking about adding a 5th..no pattern…winging this one.
Happy anniversary! My favorite project is my June cam project, my Suburban Wrap.
I’ve got lots of “favorite” projects…..whichever one I’m working on at the time is it!. Slicks, blankets, even a bedspread for a biker friend of mine!
My favorite project(s) this year have to be my two blankets that I’m knitting out of Madelinetosh yarn♥️♥️ Happy Anniversary to all of you – and here’s to many more years of wonderful products and customer service!
Happy Anniversary! My favorite project this year was a corner to corner scarf that I knitted for my mom’s birthday. I used the chocolate caron cake because the browns are beautiful!
Happy Anniversary! Fav project so far is my Harlow hat
Congrats! We share an anniversary – I learned to knit the summer of 2006. I was (and am) thrilled you moved to Colorado, just up the road from me in Lakewood. Soon I must come see your new space.
My favorite project AND yarn this year (so far!) is Westknits’ Dotted Rays in Malabrigo Mechita.
Happy Anniversary!! Doesn’t seem like it’s been 12 years since we first visited your shop in the corner of your basement. Of course we all still look the same. It’s been fun to watch the shop grow over the years. Favorite project of this year has been learning to English paper piece. I can understand why people think it’s addicting. Would love to see you add supplies and patterns to the shop. May the next dozen years be as amazing as the first!!
I always love using the picture of you all when I do the anniversary post! 🙂
Happy anniversary! My favorite project this year has been Frosted Leaves shawl in Madelinetosh Pashmina yarn
Congratulations on your anniversary. I looked back at my orders, and my first one was in September of 2006. My favorite project this year was my Reflection Line shawl using The Loopy Hues yarn in the denim colorway. I stopped knitting shawls for quite a while because I don’t wear them very often, but this year I decided to knit some anyway, because they are so fun.
My favorite project this year is Metamorphic by Lisa K. Ross knit for my 4 year old in off white, pixellating into brown, which pixellates into deep red.
Congratulations Loopy! My favorite project has been the baby set with a Colorado Avalanche theme for my old high school drum caption head. It included a beanie with their new logo, a diaper cover, and the cutest hockey skate booties!
This year has been all about charity knitting. I’ve been trying to get a good fade down with all the bits and bobs in my stash! I remember ordering from you in the basement corner days—congrats on how far you have come!
My favorite project so far this year has been a lace shawl. I had always been wary of trying lace. I found a simple pattern that included stockinette and lace. It turned out beautifully. I’m so much more confident in my stitch counts and keeping track of yarn overs that I’m ready to start a more complex lace shawl actually made with lace weight yarn!
Congrats on 12 yrs, may you be blessed with 12 more & then some! I’m not a knitter, avid crocheter. My fave project so far this year was a baby blanket.
My favorite project so far this year has been the Hitofude cardigan I made for my daughter in law! But every project is my favorite! LOL!
Congratulations on your anniversary! I’m not sure how long I’ve been a customer but it has been since before you moved to Colorado! So a long time!!
Bon anniversaire! I’m rather mad for anything I can make with anything from madtosh
Happy anniversary! I have three favorite projects! The first is Justyna Lorkowska’s Close to You shall. The second is Julie Blagojevich’s Kelley’s Ponchito. They were both quick and easy but what I love about them is that when they were shown at my LYS they inspired other customers to make them! My third favorite is Brenda Schack’s Earthshine Meditation Cowl. I made one as a test knit for the designer and then made one as a sample for the dyer who made special colorways for the test knitters I am having so much fun knitting this year! (Btw the Ponchito was also a sample for the same dyer)
Wow- I learned about the Loopy Ewe in 2007 and still haven”t found the perfect project for the All Things Heather lace weight from that first order lol! My favorite project this year is my Vinterfjell sweater (cardigan). I am terribly proud of how it turned out.
And here is to many many more years! My favorite project this year is going to be my August Camp Project because I am making a scarf to wear on our October trip to France! So many different yarns…..found that I really enjoy Ultra Pima and Bamboo Pop – I didnt really expect to like those 2!!
My favorite project thus far has to be the Infinity Shawl. The feel of the fiber, the resulting design and the fact that it worked well while TV viewing all made for a very satisfying knitting experience.
I love the Fading Point shawl I’m almost done knitting.
My favorite project this year thus far has been my Rock Island shawl I made for Loopy Academy!
Congratulations, Loopy! I’ve been ordering from you since you all were still in Saint Louis (which is where I grew up). It’s so great that you keep growing and offering new programs and options!
I returned to sock knitting after a long hiatus, and my favorite project so far this year was a MKAL for Solid Socks on Ravelry.
Happy, happy Anniversary The Loopy Ewe!! And many more! I’ve been with you since 2006.
My favorite projects (I can’t pick ONE!) this year have been Comfort Fade Cardi and Camira.
My favorite project this year has been the double knit dragon scarf for the Epic MKAL by AetherFang aka Tania, that I did with my favorite Wollemeise yarn.
Happy Anniversary Loopy Ewe. I love to visit you when I come to see my family in Fort Collins. My favorite knitting adventure this year was a “Welcome Blanket” knit-along that my friend and I organized at our synagogue. Many participated, making squares and/or sewing them together, – it was a project that made warmth for ourselves and others. T’was glorious!
Happy Anniversary!
My favorite project this year has been my Tour de Fleece spin. I used Jenkins Turkish and Agean spindles to spin 6.4 ounces in singles. I still have to ply…and there will be two separate yarns. But, I have never spun that much in a month before!
Happy Anniversary! My favorite project is my Leftovers Cowl by Wendy Johnson using The Loopy Ewe Solid Series. (And a little bit of Wollmeise)
Honestly I’m really looking forward to my August camp project I can cast on tomorrow. The golden hour shawl by Andrea Mowry. And i just started sewing and will be doing my first ever sewing camp!
Happy anniversary! You have achieved what so many of us dream of
I have followed Loopy Ewe for many years and been fortunate to attend the retreat several times. Keep enticing us with your wonderful yarns. My favorite project so far has been the Raina shawl by Andrea Mowry.
Seven Sisters Arts Quartzite. It was so great to work with for my July Camp Loopy project and it turned out beautifully.
My favorite project so far this year is the Parisian Dreams sweater test knit I did for Mina Philipp, knitting expat. I’m also looking forward to my first ever project for camp Loopy starting tomorrow.
My favorite project this year is the reversible scarf I’m working on now. Just enough interesting to keep it fun but easy enough to memorize. A little change to the harlequin opal shawl
I’ve been a Loopy Groupy for many years, it looks like my first order was May 2007! One of my favorite projects this year, using Loopy solid series, is a pair of mitten liners. I used olive and putty to make striped mittens using the helical stripe method. On size 0 needles, they turned out very nice and will be very warm beneath a pair of larger mittens for outdoor winter activities this year.
Congratulations on the anniversary. It has been fun to watch the Loopy grow!
My favorite project is “My Ribbed Socks” (https://www.ravelry.com/projects/felicity/a-nice-ribbed-sock-2). The yarn was a Christmas gift from my DiL (she knows the colors I love).
Congratulations on 12 years TLE! I think I’ve been around since almost the beginning. My needles have been on hiatus for some time but I’m happy to say that I’ve managed to do some small “Christmas in July” knitting and getting some Christmas gift knitting out of the way. It’s great to hear my needles clicking again. Looking forward to many more years of the TLE.
I’ve been working on an afghan that is a wedding present. The wedding was in April. I’m about 2/3 of the way done. I’ll be seeing the bride in September, my goal is to give her the completed throw then.
My favorite project has been Pure Joy that I learned about in July’s Yarn Club. I’m having so much fun, I’m going to make a couple more for Christmas gifts!
Love the anniversary yarn. Happy anniversary! My favourite project so far this year has been Carbeth.
Congrats on your first 12 years!!! Time is flying!!!!!
My favorite yarn is Malabrigo Rios because it is great for just about anything and I love the depth of color!!!!
That being said, my favorite projects this year have involved fingering weight yarn – Socks!!!!
My favorite project (and so quick to do), has been making two
Beaded Elegance Bracelet kits by Beth Todd. All I had to do was string beads and knit it; yarn and beads were already chosen for me
Congratulations on your anniversary, and thank you for always shipping items incredibly fast and accurately! I love the notes (and sometimes the artwork) I get with those purchases.
