Our twelfth anniversary has rolled around and we are delighted to be celebrating it with you.
So many of you have been with us for all 12 years, while others of you discovered us just this month. We appreciate ALL of you and are happy to be celebrating creativity, inspiration and YOU, every single day. You bring joy to our lives, and we hope we bring joy to your life as well. We have some cool things planned for you this fall and winter, as we jump into our 13th year with you.
We started Loopy the summer of 2006, in a little corner of our basement. Here were our first four in-store (in-house!) shoppers. And what you see behind them was really about the size of the entire Loopy corner. After a few months we had to take over the rest of the basement (right photo).
A year later, we moved the business out of the house and into office/retail space (left), and a year after that we expanded that space as well (right).
In 2011, we packed up all of our shelves and products, and moved the shop from St. Louis, MO to Fort Collins, CO. We thought it was a big move at the time. (Turns out, our move this past month was a way bigger move, even though we were just going a couple of blocks down the road!)
After two years in that space, we expanded once again and added our Loopy Fabric Shop in 2013, so we could share beautiful colors with quilters and sewists.
This year (actually, this month), we moved once again to add in more space, a ground floor location, and lots of windows. It’s hard to get photos of all of the aisles and corners of this new shop, but we’ll do a video sometime for you. And we swear we are never moving again. ๐
Whether you’ve been with us for all 12 years, or just the last 12 days, we are happy to have you in our Loopy Family. It’s wonderful being surrounded by color and amazingly creative people every single day, both in person and online. We love doing this with you!
Now on to the Loopy Anniversary Celebration!
Anniversary yarn from our newest indie dyer: Dodecahedron is the name of our exclusive color from Hue Loco! This gorgeous color is dyed on their MCN base and comes with 412 yards in the skein. It would make a gorgeous sweater on its own, or mixed in with another MCN base for a Fade-type of sweater or scarf. (Of course you need a colorway called Dodecahedron in your yarn collection.)
Loopy Swag: We’ve added in new white Loopy sweatshirts, insulated tumblers, sport bottles, and coffee mugs. I was gifted a coffee mug in this shape for Christmas and it is my favorite. Love the rounded, plump look! (Here is my favorite – along with the most amazing hot chocolate recipe…) Plus, this mug just feels nice in your hands. So I went looking specifically for this mug when it was time to order more for Loopy.
Anniversary Blog Contest:ย Want to win a $500 box of Loopy Love? Comment below to be entered into our Blog Anniversary Contest! Here’s the question: What has been your favorite project (yarn or fabric) so far this year?
Watch for more contests on our Instagram page, our Facebook page, and in our Ravelry group this month, too!
Monday Update:
Hedgehog Fibres Sock Yarn – Each time we get yarn from an indie dyer, there is usually some variation in the colorway from the last time we received that same color. (Don’t worry – we do reshoot the color when it comes in different.) This batch just seems to have an extra special pop in all of the colors that are re-stocks and I am loving them even more! We have also added in their 10 new colors.
Hedgehog Fibres Merino DK – Have you tried Hedgehog DK? It is amazing. Feels good, looks good, and comes with 219 yards in the skein. We’ve re-stocked and added in the 10 new colors as well.
Magpie Fibers Swanky Sock – Do you need an end-of-the-summer present for yourself? This might be it. Swanky is 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere and 10% Nylon and the colors are beautiful.
Magpie Fibers Swanky DK – That same 80/10/10 Merino/Cashmere/Nylon base, but in their DK weight. If you’re gearing up for fall sweater knitting, this might be your perfect yarn!
Cavallini – new designs in Mini Notebooks and Sticky Notes. We love Cavallini – they have cute designs, it feeds our notebook/pencil/sticky note addictions, and it makes it easy to take notes on your patterns and designs when you keep them in your project bags.
Our last Yarn Update included: Hue Loco Phyllis Sock, The Uncommon Thread Merino DK, Posh Fingering, Everyday Singles and Lush Worsted, Stonehedge Fiber Mill’s Shepherd Worsted, Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere, and their Sock-It Club July colorway.
Have fun shopping through the new things, tag us on Instagram when you knit up our beautiful new anniversary color, and pop over to the blog to get in on the big contest.

My favorite project this year was definitely flyway twist! I really loved the black elephant yarn and doing brioche! Happy Anniversary and thank you for everything you do!
So far this year my favorite project is my July Camp Loopy project. I made the Campside Cardi with Cascade Hampton. I really love that yarn. It’s one of my new favorites.
The one I’m knitting right now, of course! A V-neck pullover for a young great-nephew in Malabrigo Rios Azul Profundo with trim in Pearl and Natural.
And thank you, TLE, for being there every time I’ve needed yarn for the last 12 years, and for all the help from Sheri and the Elves.
Always love seeing your name come through on the order sheets, Genia!
Congrats on the anniversary and I have to share what my poor, Monday brain read in your update:
This gorgeous color is dyed on their MCN base and comes with 412 colors in the skein.
I was thinking, “How did they get 412 colors onto one skein without serious bleeding or ugly mush at the end?”
I think I need a nap and at least one skein of this beautiful “412 color” yarn. LOL
Ha – that would be a labor intensive dye job indeed!
My fav. project has been some socks knit for sock madness.
Oh my goodness, such a hard question to answer, yarn or fabric? Hmmm….I think I really, really love my “Afternoon Delight” quilt from Kaffe Fassett fabrics. It was my July Camp project. I hated it in the beginning but it has grown on me and I love it.
My favorite project this year has been growing baby #6! (I found you when I was growing baby #2 and wanted to knit him some booties and a soaker.) My favorite *craft* project has been knitting an Elwood for the new baby.
Congrats on sweet #6, Mary!
My favorite yarn is always the yarn Iโm currently knitting… or in this case… getting ready to knit. I canโt wait to get started on my August Camp Loopy project using Hedgehog fibers in a beautiful color called โMethodโ. Itโs wound and ready to go…..
Eira pullover from Knit Wear
Favorite project this year is my annual Jan 1st pair of socks – for me!!
Happy Anniversary!
My favorite project this year has been the Rune Shawl by Helen Stewart, knit using Neptunia and Coven colorways by Voolenvine Yarns.
Congratulations on your 12th Anniversary! Love your online store but I mostly enjoy my visits in person every other year.
I finally jumped on the Mad Tosh Merino Lite bandwagon this summer. That yarn was so yummy to work with! It’s probably not my last Mad Tosh purchase.
Congratulations and a very happy anniversary!
My favorite yarn this year is definitely Claudia’s (The Wollmeise’s) Blend. Two hanks of gorgeous color, stitch definition and softness!
My favorite this year has been the TTL Mystery Shawl, fun and challenging at the same time. Just finishing up last 4 rows and bindoff. But next I learn Dimensional Tuck Knitting at Stitches Midwest so that should be fun also.
My favourite project this year has not even been started. I am swatching Wollmeise Blend for the perfect sweater. Getting a fabric I like is harder then I thought.
Otherwise, it is all the hats I have knitted for Haloes for Hope and my local food bank.
12 years is such an achievement! And wow! The amazing changes! Congratulations! And many thanks for all of the joy you bring to us. My favorite project this year so far is the one I just finished. Iโm doing Camp Loopy this summer and just finished a Girasole pi shawl, using Cascade Heritage Silk yarn. Itโs a special gift for a very special little girl who will be born in a few months.
My favorite project has been my current camp project, almost finished. My One Step Ahead shawl in Uncommon Thread DK!
My favorite project this year has been my current oroject on the needles. Oasis poncho in tangerine flax. Moving to a warmer climate has stretched me to give flax another try, and I have a new aporeciation. I was lucky enough to make a brief stop to your bew location when I was moving across the country. What a lovely space! Happy anniversary to you all!
My Uncomplicated Sweater has been my favorite so far because it was my second knitting project! https://www.ravelry.com/projects/fleurdelys516/uncomplicated
And my favorite yarn has been A Whimsical Wood Yarn (Colorway: Lazy Ass): https://www.ravelry.com/projects/fleurdelys516/honeysuckle-hat-4
Second ever project? Great job!!
Happy Anniversary! Iโm really enjoying making my Find Your Fade shawl! Not done yet but itโs one of my favorites so far!
I really love my July camp project. It was my There and Back a Bit Socks! The colour of the Yarns worked well. Happy Anniversary!
My favorite project this year was Wool Leaves by Jared Flood — a baby blanket for a good friend.
My favorite project has been the Enchanted Summer Shorties – the recently-release first pattern by my friend Louise! You can find it on Ravelry.
2 weeks into the Casapinka MKAL The Crown Wools using the oh-so-fabulous Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere in the Fall Rainbow mini skein set. Love the colors and it’s arguably one of my top 3 favorite yarns. Thanks to Wendy Johnson whose blog introduced me to TLE many years ago and to Sheri and the elves for awesome yarn, project groups, and the very best shipping service.
My favorite project this year was A shield against grief(pattern)- my project called Hugs for Joni. I used a Loopy Legends DIC, Lisa’s memories of home. This was for my friend who lost her husband of 43 Years and needs lots of hugs.
My favorite project is the Vortex Shawl that I did in June for Camp Loopy.
My favorite project AND yarn this year has been my Harebell cardigan made with Malabrigo Rios in Cirrus.
I have followed you around the country, first at the St. Louis store then the old location and hopefully I will make it to the new location in Ft Collins too. I knit so many wonderful things this year but I really enjoyed working with a new yarn, to me, Cascade Hampton that I first found at Loopy. Living in very hot west Texas this is the perfect blend both cotton and linen. Wish you had more linens as you got rid of the Shibui that you carried. Happy Anniversary!
I’m really enjoying the Mesa Verde Shawl by Anne Podlesak. It looks especially nice in the rainbow yarn I bought from your shop!
Congrats on twelve wonderful years! My favorite project has been a little lace hat knit in some beautiful Uncommon Thread Posh Fingering. Such a nice yarn!
I finally bought fabric to start a quilt. A large, intimidating quilt. I am both terrified and thrilled at this new direction for my sewing.
Knitting-wise, I have only managed to finish two long neglected hats. Sigh.
I love love love Birch Charlie Harper. I just finished my 2nd quilt using his wonderful designs.
Happy anniversary! The Loopy Ewe is my favorite shop ever. I think my favorite project so far this year is my June Camp Loopy project, Cactus Flower (https://www.ravelry.com/projects/momcatb/cactus-flower). The colors were a little out of my comfort zone, but once completed this shawl seems to go with everything. I love the challenges you have for us. If it were not for Camp and Loopy Academy I am certain I would not have finished as many projects as I have.
My favorite project this year has been remaking my son’s favorite sweater (treefort) in a larger size because he’s just…growing. I’m using Wollmeise because when he outgrows it, it will still fit me!
Ha – good thinking!
I think my favorite so far this year was my Fugue in Mosaic Minor done with Fibernymph Dyeworks Bounce. It was a lot of fun to make, and I love wearing the finished shawl. Happy Anniversary!
definitely my castlegar cardigan using itw sock yarn is my favorite so far. I knit it for my 1000 yard project for camp loopy in June. ๐
My favorite project so far this year is the quilt I am making for my nephew, who is also my godson. The fabric is batiks.
Happy Anniversary to one of my favorite shops!!! Wishing you continued success for years to come!
My favorite project so far this year was a little girl outfit I made for June Camp. I purchased several fabrics and enjoyed putting fabrics together to make the project.
xoxo
Congratulations on 12 wonderful years. I started ordering 9 years ago and havenโt stopped. My favorite project was for the Knitting Challenge, Spring Bloom shawl by Janina Kallio using Seven Sisters Arts Meridian. I love the pattern and the yarn.
Happy, happy anniversary!!!!! I’m so pleased that I found your blog so many years ago when you were still in St. Louis. I was fortunate to be able to visit your previous Fort Collins store TWICE (all the way from Washington State!). I can hardly wait to visit your new store. I have been obsessed with Uncommon Thread yarn this year (several projects finished and underway). I’ve also been obsessed with the Loopy Legends colorways this year. Here’s to wishing you many more anniversaries!
Ohh, I think my favorite this year has been knitting Fly Away. Great pattern and such a cute project! Happy anniversary!
so far this year it would be very difficult or maybe impossible to chose a favorite between Magpie snaky DK and rowan felted tweed. both a joy to work with. Catherine
I finished my first quilt this year (baby size)! Aaaand, of course now have fabric for three more waiting for me to have time to cut them out ๐
Congratulations on your first quilt, Melanie!
My favorite yarn of the year was some handspun angora that I got at a farmer’s market, from Friends in Fiber. The softest thing ever! I made a lovely cowl with it, and since I just moved to Florida, I may never have to wear it again, but it is therapeutic just to touch it.
Things have been a bit tough at this end, so I treated myself to Black Elephant’s “Cheer Up”. Very nice indeed. Yes, it did cheer me up.
The socks are cozy too. Thanks.
Wishing you many more successful years!
That sounds like a perfect colorway for you. ๐
My favorite knitting project so far is the fading point shawl by joji. Happy Anniversary!
My favorite project this year has been a cabled baby hat from Appalachian Designs. So cute.
12 years! Fantastic! Love everything you do, TLE ๐
My first Camp Loopy project was my favorite this year. I knit the whole sweater in a gorgeous green and then….THEN…. I picked up this big, beautiful, skein of a very neutral colour that was to be the cuffs and collar. I fell in LOVE! This was Magpie Fibers Swanky Sock in Castaway. It was the nicest, softest, but most well-behaved yarn in the world! I can’t wait to use it again!
I guess my fav project this year is socks. It’s become my nightly habit with the television. It’s my favorite thing to knit because I make them for my friends and relatives. The news on TV is so bad these days, but I just keep knitting socks to help brighten the days of those I love and that makes me feel brighter too.
My favorite project is the So Faded sweater I knit out of Dream in Color’s Smooshy with Cashmere!
