I made a fun baby blanket this past spring (right before Camp Loopy started). My good friend Monica, who blogs over at The Yummy Life, has a new little granddaughter! I made her grandson this Pine Forest Baby Blanket a couple of years ago when he was born, so of course I had to make one for his little sister, Mallory.
Monica said the nursery theme was monsters, and “no pink”. That gave me just the excuse I needed to order the aptly named Knit a Monster Nursery. I used Spud and Chloe Sweater and the stripes on the blanket made the whole thing go quickly. I opted for just one pocket on the blanket (because I thought four was a little much). Picking which little monster to make and tuck in the pocket was a bigger challenge, because all of the monster patterns were so cute. I used Splash and Firefly for the blanket, Moonlight and Grass for the pocket, and Grass for the border around the whole blanket.
You’ll also find monster booties, hats, sweaters, mobiles and all kinds of other fun patterns in the book. Now I’m working on finishing up another baby blanket for another sweet little girl who was born last week. I started the blanket this past winter, but of course here it is time to send it off and I have four more rows to go. Maybe I should switch to baby hats ….

This was the first knitting book I got myself. It made me smile to see your version of this blanket, and I got a few hanks of Spud and Chloe Sweater from TLE a few months ago for my little one- I am in love with that yarn now!
Happy 4th!
That is one cute blanket, Sheri! I love the colors. I’m so glad to see colors that aren’t pink for a girl!!! That little monster will be such a good lovey for the little girl!!
OMG this is soooo cute! I’m going to have to keep this in mind…
Love this lovely set!!
Darling!
