Happy Monday to you! We have beautiful new things up on the website for you tonight, as well as Contest #4 (in our Eighth Anniversary Celebration) and a sale to celebrate our anniversary as well! Just up, you’ll find:
Blue Moon Fiber Arts Worthy Fingering – Oh, this yarn. It is to.die.for. The yarn base is 65% White Cashmere and 35% Bombyx Silk, so you can imagine how it feels to knit up and to wear. It’s the yarn you need to purchase to make something special for yourself or for a friend. It’s expensive (remember – 65% cashmere, 35% silk), but so worth it. The last time we had it, many of the colors sold out quickly because people bought one, and then came back and bought more when the first skein arrived at their house and they could feel it. It’s worth saving up for. See tonight’s blog post for some pattern ideas. You can also see the shawl that I made with 2 skeins of the Turquoise, here. Shown below in Smoke on the Water and Antiquated System. Need some project ideas? For one-skein projects, try: Gansey Wristers, Precious, Pebble Beach Shawlette, Pretty Basic, Teasdale, and Strangling Vine Lace Scarf. For two-skein projects, try: Spinel, Red Rock Canyon, Stay Awhile, Rising Dawn, The Bay of Fundy Scarf, or Weave It!
The Loopy Ewe Seasonings Series – We’ve re-stocked your favorite Seasoning Series colors! This yarn is exclusive to The Loopy Ewe, and dyed up by the talented people at Lorna’s Laces. Each 430 yard multi-color skein comes with a coordinating solid 100 yard skein, making this a fun yarn for socks with coordinating heels and toes, or shawls, hats, mitts and gloves with coordinating ribs and edging. Check out Pickle Pop, Loopy Lodge, Vacation Day, Cinnamon Toast, and all of the other fun colors in this line. Shown below in Loopy Lodge and Gothic Sweetheart.
Shalimar Breathless – This fingering weight yarn is 75% Superwash Merino, 15% Cashmere, and 10% Silk. Hand-dyed by Kristi in Maryland in wonderful color mixes and semi-solids. I have used Breathless for shawls (like this one and this one) and cowls (like this one) and it continues to be one of the yarns I gravitate to when picking yarn for projects. I love the way it feels to knit, and it’s wonderful to wear. If I was a better sweater knitter, I’d have a sweater out of the Breathless DK, too! Shown below in Love Potion and Limerick. Need project ideas? Try: Summer Dawn, Ballou, Tiger Lily Shawl, Cemara, or Daydream Believer.
Universal Cotton Supreme and Cotton Splash – A worsted weight 100% cotton that comes in 40 different solids, as well as 7 Splash colors. It has been popular for cool sweaters and shawls, as well as baby blankets and kids cardigans.
Universal Bamboo Pop – This sport weight yarn is 50% Bamboo and 50% Cotton and so soft to knit with. Perfect for people who are allergic to wool, but also works well for people who don’t like to be hot. You’ll like it for sweaters, shawls, scarves, cowls, and baby and kid clothes. Machine wash and dry makes it easy care, as well.
Knitter’s Pride needles and interchangeables – Re-stocked.
Sirka Bird Counters – These counters are great if your pattern has multiple rows, sections and stitches to keep track of. It allows you to keep track of three different counts at the same time.
Knitter’s Pride Knit Blocker Sets – This blocking set is designed to help you block sweaters, shawls, scarves and more without using individual pins. You’ll like how you can stretch and block your projects in half the time with this set. (Note – we sold out of these overnight but have plenty more ordered. If you’d like to have us reserve some for you, just shoot us an email: support@theloopyewe.com. They should be back in stock in a couple of weeks!)
Inspiration Knits – new patterns up.
We’ve had fun celebrating our Eighth Anniversary with eight blog contests! (Contest #4 today – be sure to enter!) The winner of last Friday’s contest is Kay L in Vancouver, WA, who wins this beautiful skein of JulieSpins Silky 435 in Vineyard, and a felted accessory pouch from Frabjous Fibers. Congratulations, Kay – we’ll ship this out tomorrow. For our fourth contest today, our question is: How many gift knits will you be working on this fall? (You can also say zero. Maybe you only knit for yourself?) Leave a comment below and we’ll draw a winner on Wednesday, when Blog Contest #5 goes up!
We’re also celebrating by putting all of our exclusive Loopy Lines on sale for 10% off, between today and the end of the month! You’ll receive 10% off on Loopy Celebrations, Loopy Legends, Loopy Cakes, Loopy Solid Series and the Loopy Seasonings Series (re-stocked just in time, right?).
Enjoy all of the new things, and we’ll get your orders packed up and shipped right out!

I know I will be knitting at least 2 pairs of socks for a couple of my best friends and a shawl for my mom.
I’m knitting headbands for my running friends (4 out of 12 done), a coffee cup cozy for a co-worker, scarf for SIL, hat for boyfriend. Maybe a poncho for mom. Yikes! maybe I have over estimated my time line a little bit.
Mittens for al the little people
I will be knitting only a couple gifts this fall. The rest for myself!

I always have gift socks in progress throughout the year.
I would like to knit one gift for my daughter, especially since I moved to Boise and she is staying in Colorado. Other than that, I mostly knit for myself.
If you count the mittens I knit for charity, lots. If you don’t, then just the hats and sweaters I will be doing for the grandchildren.
I’m thinking 3. A few baby shower gifts and something nice for my mom. But I know I’ll add a few more… it’s in my nature.
3 gifts this fall (well spring here!). A shawl for my mum, a cowl for a good friend and socks for my husband. Will of course fit some things just for me in there as well!
I’ll be knitting at least one gift, a pair of socks for my husband. But beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess. Sometimes I don’t know I’m knitting a gift until it’s done and I realize it would be perfect for someone I know.
Me mostly, my family are all men and they don’t like shawls. 🙂
Oh, I’m knitting a ton of gifts this fall! A coworker and a good friend are both pregnant and due within the next 2 months, so I know I’ll be knitting lots of bibs and burp cloths for them. And I’ll knit a lot of hats, cowls, and fingerless mitts for quite a few other people!
I just cast off (and still have to block and sew) a shrug I knit for a birthday present. It almost became a Christmas present as I am very close to deadline. I have one, possibly two gifts to knit this season.
Probably just 2. American Girl sweaters for my granddaughters.
I’m going to say 1, because anything more than that will be a bonus.
As of right now, I’m planning on knitting 6 pairs of slipper socks. Hope I can get them all done!
I’ve already had 2 nieces and a sister who have picked out the Christmas gifts they want, so three so far!
I have a new granddaughter coming Dec. Jan. so I’ve been looking for knits for her. It’s a winter baby knitting so fun.
I am constantly knitting gifts for people. Right now I have two hats and a pair of mittens going. Hopefully I will get 3 hats 1 pair of mittens and 2 gloves done by the middle of September. My grandchildren are going to need them this winter!
Two to four items. One will be a shawl.
So many gifts! So far I have knit 14 pairs of mittens (most will be gifts) 6 pairs of slippers, again most are gifts, and I’m working on hat number 4, all are gifts.
I’m not sure yet. I need to knit 2 Christmas stockings so I probably won’t commit to more than one knitted gift.
As of right now, zero, but that could change if I get any requests!
I don’t know! I don’t knit on a deadline so although I have it in mind to knit something for my sister, it might not be fall if I can’t finish up the two projects I have going on before snow falls.
I made most of my holiday gifts last year, but won’t do that again. I will probably make 2 or 3.
I always do some socks for my parents, and then a last-minute pair for my husband. So at least 3 pairs of socks, and whatever else occurs to me for my 2 kids.
I never know. I knit and if someone likes it they just might get it.
Five-a baby blanket, an Evenstar shawl for my niece’s vow renewal next August, and Christmas stockings for my hair stylist’s three kids.
It’s mostly selfish knitting for me for the holidays, unless I get a hare-brained idea to knit hats for everyone with just 2 weeks before Christmas (which I have done before)! My camp loopy project #1 is a Christmas gift, so I’m already halfway done with my holiday knitting. I might do another shawl but that would have to be really unselfish of me.
I have about a dozen projects in mind for Fall… I’d better just pick a couple and get started!
I’ll probably make a few dishcloths for my mother. She loves them. The kids, on the other hand, all prefer cash.
most likely 4-5 … if i can find the time with grad school!!
At least one pair of socks for my DH and perhaps one for my Mother. May do a cowl for my sister, just because I can.
So far I have 2 gift knits in my queue: felted coasters and a scarf. But that may change!
I have several gift knits finished, thankfully. But I would still like to get about 10 or twelve finished before Christmas. : )
Far too many probably! I have plans for at least four pairs of socks, and one baby sweater. I also want to make some Halloween socks just for me.
Right now I am only working on a hat for myself. Just finished my first adult sweater (lace-weight mohair…) and I will be starting on Holiday knitting soon.
I’ve 2 gift knits for Christmas already done; there are several more in the queue, and some usually get added last minute, too.
Every Christmas, I send my sister and her growing family a box of small knits (hats, gloves, cowls, etc.) — usually a dozen or so. Since we live far apart (Northern California vs. North Carolina), I can’t keep up with the likes, dislikes, and preferences of her now adult children and the spouses they are collecting, so I let them fight over the spoils and hope most of them end up happy.
Maybe one or two? I don’t do a lot of gift knitting as I find it stressful and more costly than some of the other gifts that may be appreciated more.
RIght now I started a pair of socks that are a long owed present for a special friend. I plan on doing two baby sweaters for soon to come great nephew/nieces. That’s along with the shawl I’m working on for myself. I have two pair of socks I want to make before Halloween….hmmm, kind of guessing it’s not all going to happen.
I will be working on at least five between children and grandchildren. Depending on time how f can knit there may be more. Catherine
I am knitting a new hat for my husband.
One of my Camp Loopy projects is a gift, I’m already working on 2 swap gifts now and will probably be making something for my hubby, daughter, & mom at least. Who knows what else, I guess it depends on how many personal projects get in the mix too. 😉
I knit throughout the year but will be changing from cotton & wool to wool & bamboo and merino socks for my hubby.
About seven or eight, including a “dolphin hat” requested by my niece. Need to find a suitable pattern for that!
Knitting – at least 1 hat and 2 scarves. Weaving – 1 table runner. Also thinking about weaving some bookmarks from my Wollmeise leftovers.
I’m knitting up 3 sweaters, one for each immediate family member!
None. They are all for me.
I will be working on 5 or 6 gifts, all felted mittens. I’ve made quite a few in the past months and find that since I have the pattern memorized, it is almost mindless, so goes fast. And felting hides a multitude of sins!!
