Blue Moon Worthy, Loopy Seasonings, Shalimar, CONTEST #4 and a Sale!

Happy Monday to you! We have beautiful new things up on the website for you tonight, as well as Contest #4 (in our Eighth Anniversary Celebration) and a sale to celebrate our anniversary as well! Just up, you’ll find:

Blue Moon Fiber Arts Worthy Fingering – Oh, this yarn. It is to.die.for. The yarn base is 65% White Cashmere and 35% Bombyx Silk, so you can imagine how it feels to knit up and to wear. It’s the yarn you need to purchase to make something special for yourself or for a friend. It’s expensive (remember – 65% cashmere, 35% silk), but so worth it. The last time we had it, many of the colors sold out quickly because people bought one, and then came back and bought more when the first skein arrived at their house and they could feel it. It’s worth saving up for. See tonight’s blog post for some pattern ideas. You can also see the shawl that I made with 2 skeins of the Turquoise, here. Shown below in Smoke on the Water and Antiquated System. Need some project ideas? For one-skein projects, try: Gansey Wristers, Precious, Pebble Beach Shawlette, Pretty Basic, Teasdale, and Strangling Vine Lace Scarf. For two-skein projects, try: Spinel, Red Rock Canyon, Stay Awhile, Rising Dawn, The Bay of Fundy Scarf, or Weave It!

The Loopy Ewe Seasonings Series – We’ve re-stocked your favorite Seasoning Series colors! This yarn is exclusive to The Loopy Ewe, and dyed up by the talented people at Lorna’s Laces. Each 430 yard multi-color skein comes with a coordinating solid 100 yard skein, making this a fun yarn for socks with coordinating heels and toes, or shawls, hats, mitts and gloves with coordinating ribs and edging. Check out Pickle Pop, Loopy Lodge, Vacation Day, Cinnamon Toast, and all of the other fun colors in this line. Shown below in Loopy Lodge and Gothic Sweetheart.

Shalimar Breathless – This fingering weight yarn is 75% Superwash Merino, 15% Cashmere, and 10% Silk. Hand-dyed by Kristi in Maryland in wonderful color mixes and semi-solids. I have used Breathless for shawls (like this one and this one) and cowls (like this one) and it continues to be one of the yarns I gravitate to when picking yarn for projects. I love the way it feels to knit, and it’s wonderful to wear. If I was a better sweater knitter, I’d have a sweater out of the Breathless DK, too! Shown below in Love Potion and Limerick. Need project ideas? Try: Summer Dawn, Ballou, Tiger Lily Shawl, Cemara, or Daydream Believer.

Universal Cotton Supreme and Cotton Splash – A worsted weight 100% cotton that comes in 40 different solids, as well as 7 Splash colors. It has been popular for cool sweaters and shawls, as well as baby blankets and kids cardigans.

Universal Bamboo Pop – This sport weight yarn is 50% Bamboo and 50% Cotton and so soft to knit with. Perfect for people who are allergic to wool, but also works well for people who don’t like to be hot. You’ll like it for sweaters, shawls, scarves, cowls, and baby and kid clothes. Machine wash and dry makes it easy care, as well.

Knitter’s Pride needles and interchangeables – Re-stocked.

Sirka Bird Counters – These counters are great if your pattern has multiple rows, sections and stitches to keep track of. It allows you to keep track of three different counts at the same time.

Knitter’s Pride Knit Blocker Sets – This blocking set is designed to help you block sweaters, shawls, scarves and more without using individual pins. You’ll like how you can stretch and block your projects in half the time with this set. (Note – we sold out of these overnight but have plenty more ordered. If you’d like to have us reserve some for you, just shoot us an email: support@theloopyewe.com. They should be back in stock in a couple of weeks!)

  1. Hopefully at least 1. We are renovating a house, but I want to find time to knit my sister something super special for Christmas. She’s my best friend. 🙂

  2. Currently planned gifts? Only one – a scarf for DH, maybe with a matching hat if I have time. Knitting without him knowing will make this a challenge. Gifts in the end? Who knows! Last minute things always seem to pop up!

  3. I am planning 3 to 5 gifts this year. I thought I would be smart and get a head start, so I planned it so that some of my travel knitting in the spring was also gift knittng. In trying to make the most of my yarn, I overshot and now I need to pull a repeat or two out.

  4. I’m hoping to be able to finish 2 scarves, a double knit cowl, and 2 hats for Christmas presents this year. The problem is that I always have big plans which never seem to pan out. This year I am being slowed down by health issues, but I will continue to look on the bright side!

  5. I knit socks and dishcloths and most of my socks are given as gifts to friends and travelers I meet whilst travelling. Since it will be summer and not winter, I’ll give them away to friends at Christmas

  6. I did a lot of gift knitting earlier this year, so am hoping not to have a lot of last minute knitting this fall 🙂

  7. Hats and cowls for boyfriend and sister. This fall, I plan to learn to my friend how to knit, so she can knit for her baby herself. That counts as a knitting gift too, right?

    1. Sorry…this is acting up….kept saying duplicate comment but not showing up…..plus trying to link to your site from your blog and it keeps telling me I do not have access and am forbidden……

  8. Well, if you include charity knitting, at least two! And probably more, but it depends on the available time, and of course the length of the project. The two planned are longer projects, and the one already in progress is a blanket….

  9. Well, Christmas was kind of cancelled last year due to health issues so I’m hoping to finish knitting the four gifts I had started for last year’s holiday. A shawl and three pairs of fingerless mitts is my goal for this season.

  10. I will be making wristers for the women in my family. It’s what we all can’t seen to have enough of lately.

  11. I have a pair of socks on the needles now that need finishing, and plan to make at least four more gifts this fall.

  12. I usually knit each daughter a scarf and each son and hubby a hat for Christmas. A grandson hat too. That makes at least 8 things. Yikes. I better get started..

  13. Socks for my son for Christmas, and all the baby stuff I can get done for my first grandbaby due to arrive around Dec 22 😉

  14. I have four pairs of socks to do this fall. Three of the pairs are for our nieces for Christmas, so I have a true deadline for getting them done. 🙂

  15. Gift knits are a year-round occupation. Somehow I always think I’ll get enough done, spread out throughout the year to avoid the scramble in the fall. However, it seems I just get more exaggerated notions of what I’ll be able to accomplish!

  16. After I finish camp Loopy challenge #3, I have a baby sweater to finish. After that back to self-indulgent knitting for me.

  17. Socks!! Everyone is getting a handmade pair of socks! I started working on them right after Christmas last year! (10 pair)

  18. I probably have at least a dozen projects for gifts this season. I think I managed 15 last year (mostly hats and scarves) so we will see what I can finish up by then. Only 120 more days til Christmas!

  19. I have one in my UFO pile and one that I must block today, another to be gifted this week and I will probably squeeze in two more. Total is 5…..

  20. I am knitting for me of course, but I’m sure I’ll start a few Christmas gifts this fall. I’m already planning footie socks for my friends. My first Christmas knitting is already finished thanks to Camp Loopy!

  21. I have 7 knit gifts for the Fall. Last year I had 23 and I said this year would be all about me. But, these 7 just have to get something.

  22. There are 18 secretaries at my workplace. Every Christmas I make a knitted item for each. This year I am making Shawlettes. Previously I have done felted purses, scarves, cowls, et. I look forward each year to find a knitted item I think the girls will like.

  23. I’m actually getting ambitious this year with plans to present all the women in my immediate family (4) with Fisherman Wife cowls.

  24. I’m going to knit a sweater for my granddaughter who is starting seventh grade, a stuffed hedgehog for my grandson and socks for my sister-in-law. The rest is for me!

  25. I like giving knitted gifts as the mood strikes me. Knitting on a deadline, like Christmas or Hannukah, makes me unhappy, and the knitting becomes a chore rather than a pleasure. So my holiday knitting # is 0!
