Blue Moon Worthy, Loopy Seasonings, Shalimar, CONTEST #4 and a Sale!

Happy Monday to you! We have beautiful new things up on the website for you tonight, as well as Contest #4 (in our Eighth Anniversary Celebration) and a sale to celebrate our anniversary as well! Just up, you’ll find:

Blue Moon Fiber Arts Worthy Fingering – Oh, this yarn. It is to.die.for. The yarn base is 65% White Cashmere and 35% Bombyx Silk, so you can imagine how it feels to knit up and to wear. It’s the yarn you need to purchase to make something special for yourself or for a friend. It’s expensive (remember – 65% cashmere, 35% silk), but so worth it. The last time we had it, many of the colors sold out quickly because people bought one, and then came back and bought more when the first skein arrived at their house and they could feel it. It’s worth saving up for. See tonight’s blog post for some pattern ideas. You can also see the shawl that I made with 2 skeins of the Turquoise, here. Shown below in Smoke on the Water and Antiquated System. Need some project ideas? For one-skein projects, try: Gansey Wristers, Precious, Pebble Beach Shawlette, Pretty Basic, Teasdale, and Strangling Vine Lace Scarf. For two-skein projects, try: Spinel, Red Rock Canyon, Stay Awhile, Rising Dawn, The Bay of Fundy Scarf, or Weave It!

The Loopy Ewe Seasonings Series – We’ve re-stocked your favorite Seasoning Series colors! This yarn is exclusive to The Loopy Ewe, and dyed up by the talented people at Lorna’s Laces. Each 430 yard multi-color skein comes with a coordinating solid 100 yard skein, making this a fun yarn for socks with coordinating heels and toes, or shawls, hats, mitts and gloves with coordinating ribs and edging. Check out Pickle Pop, Loopy Lodge, Vacation Day, Cinnamon Toast, and all of the other fun colors in this line. Shown below in Loopy Lodge and Gothic Sweetheart.

Shalimar Breathless – This fingering weight yarn is 75% Superwash Merino, 15% Cashmere, and 10% Silk. Hand-dyed by Kristi in Maryland in wonderful color mixes and semi-solids. I have used Breathless for shawls (like this one and this one) and cowls (like this one) and it continues to be one of the yarns I gravitate to when picking yarn for projects. I love the way it feels to knit, and it’s wonderful to wear. If I was a better sweater knitter, I’d have a sweater out of the Breathless DK, too! Shown below in Love Potion and Limerick. Need project ideas? Try: Summer Dawn, Ballou, Tiger Lily Shawl, Cemara, or Daydream Believer.

Universal Cotton Supreme and Cotton Splash – A worsted weight 100% cotton that comes in 40 different solids, as well as 7 Splash colors. It has been popular for cool sweaters and shawls, as well as baby blankets and kids cardigans.

Universal Bamboo Pop – This sport weight yarn is 50% Bamboo and 50% Cotton and so soft to knit with. Perfect for people who are allergic to wool, but also works well for people who don’t like to be hot. You’ll like it for sweaters, shawls, scarves, cowls, and baby and kid clothes. Machine wash and dry makes it easy care, as well.

Knitter’s Pride needles and interchangeables – Re-stocked.

Sirka Bird Counters – These counters are great if your pattern has multiple rows, sections and stitches to keep track of. It allows you to keep track of three different counts at the same time.

Knitter’s Pride Knit Blocker Sets – This blocking set is designed to help you block sweaters, shawls, scarves and more without using individual pins. You’ll like how you can stretch and block your projects in half the time with this set. (Note – we sold out of these overnight but have plenty more ordered. If you’d like to have us reserve some for you, just shoot us an email: support@theloopyewe.com. They should be back in stock in a couple of weeks!)

  1. Between hairy and fifty..and yes, I’ve already started. The big projects are two afghans, all the way down to dragon scale baby booties

  2. Gift knit tally for this fall: our grandson has three teachers and one bus driver, plus a knit gift for his mom – that’s 5. I’ve already knit 8 for Christmas at Sea, and it is time to mail those off.

  3. I think I will be knitting between zero and five as gifts during the holidays. Not quite sure as to the number and I also may just be winging it too.

  4. I am not sure. My original intention was to knit hats for everyone for Christmas…but I am really enjoying knitting sweaters that I can wear.

  5. I need to make 5 hats for grandkids before Christmas. Surely it’s something I can complete if I start now!?!?

  6. This number keeps multiplying! I don’t know why I do this to myself, but I like to make gifts for people at work. I will make 4 or 5 projects there. My nieces and nephews also like to get hats from me, so I make at least 3 or 4. For my two daughters, I’ll make at least one thing for each one. I better get started!

  7. I’ll knit at least 3-4 gifts. Unfortunately most of my family lives in Texas and they don’t need that many woolens. I usually knit a sweater and some socks for my husband. He machine knits socks for his siblings.

  8. Right now, I’m planning three — fingerless mitts, a cowl/hat set, and a TBD item. If the fall goes well, more items may be added to the list.

  9. I am planning to knit fingerless mitts for my two DDs. And with first grandson due just before Thanksgiving, I am looking at baby patterns. I have yarn and pattern for a sweater. And I am thinking about a “first Christmas” stocking and maybe booties.

  10. I will probably be working on 4 or 5 gift knits for Christmas this year! Unfortunately, I don’t come from a family of knitters (or crafters at all, really) so it’s hard to find people who truly appreciate the value of handknits!

  11. Probably between zero and three. Currently my hand is in a cast! That is NOT helping the knitting at all!!! Depends how my hand feels and whether I want to just knit for myself or to share. 😉

  12. Not as many as I think I’m going to do, and not as many as I should. I have plans, big plans, but not enough time!

  13. Not certain this year-perhaps cowls for my lovely daughter/daughters in law or little socks for my grandchildren!

  14. I have 13 coworkers and 1 team lead to knit for. I always make my aunt and sister in law something. I’ll be busy.

  15. I don’t really make plans to make things for other people (they don’t seem to appreciate it enough to make it worth the time), but sometimes I make something because I feel like making it, and if I don’t feel like keeping it I find an interested recepient.

  16. I will try with the best intentions to make a little something (even if it’s just an ornament or coffee cozy) for each of my family members, but will probably end up with only two or three completed. 🙂

  17. No gift knitting for me. I become too attached to knitting and quilting projects that I complete, and have found it best for them to stay at home with us.

  18. I may knit a couple, but spring is more a busy season for me. Then I knit for my kids’ school and dance teachers, as well as birthdays and Mother’s Day.

  19. I will be knitting at least 10 gifts this fall/early winter, most with yarn purchased from TLE, in fact – a few Rasta cowl/mitten sets, several scarves/shawlettes out of Malabrigo in their beautiful colorways, a few fingerless mitts and some hats. We’ll see how much I can get done! Thank goodness my friends don’t mind the timing of their gifts, and winter lasts a LONG time here, so there’s plenty of time to get things done. :o)

  20. I’m off the hook for Christmas knitting this year, but I do have two friends with winter babies due that will need sweaters…

  21. Usually I only knit for myself, but I am making my husband another pair of socks. He has enjoyed the one pair I made for him, so he deserves another pair.

  22. No one in my entire family has any interest in knitted goods. However, my husband has relatives in India who are totally knitworthy. So, I am making two shawls and a scarf which will be gifted the next time we travel there. I also want to make some amigurumi items for two kids we know.

  23. Let me think , got two done, two on the needles, three more planned for sure… Oh yes, those four cowls done for women’s shelter…umm, too many?

  24. Let’s see… 3 sweaters for the granddaughters, a pair of fingerless mitts for mom and a hat for dad; a sweater for my mother and maybe a lap blanket as well; a cowl for my daughter and 5 cowls for coworkers. I think I need to get busy!!!!
