Blue Moon Worthy, Loopy Seasonings, Shalimar, CONTEST #4 and a Sale!

Happy Monday to you! We have beautiful new things up on the website for you tonight, as well as Contest #4 (in our Eighth Anniversary Celebration) and a sale to celebrate our anniversary as well! Just up, you’ll find:

Blue Moon Fiber Arts Worthy Fingering – Oh, this yarn. It is to.die.for. The yarn base is 65% White Cashmere and 35% Bombyx Silk, so you can imagine how it feels to knit up and to wear. It’s the yarn you need to purchase to make something special for yourself or for a friend. It’s expensive (remember – 65% cashmere, 35% silk), but so worth it. The last time we had it, many of the colors sold out quickly because people bought one, and then came back and bought more when the first skein arrived at their house and they could feel it. It’s worth saving up for. See tonight’s blog post for some pattern ideas. You can also see the shawl that I made with 2 skeins of the Turquoise, here. Shown below in Smoke on the Water and Antiquated System. Need some project ideas? For one-skein projects, try: Gansey Wristers, Precious, Pebble Beach Shawlette, Pretty Basic, Teasdale, and Strangling Vine Lace Scarf. For two-skein projects, try: Spinel, Red Rock Canyon, Stay Awhile, Rising Dawn, The Bay of Fundy Scarf, or Weave It!

The Loopy Ewe Seasonings Series – We’ve re-stocked your favorite Seasoning Series colors! This yarn is exclusive to The Loopy Ewe, and dyed up by the talented people at Lorna’s Laces. Each 430 yard multi-color skein comes with a coordinating solid 100 yard skein, making this a fun yarn for socks with coordinating heels and toes, or shawls, hats, mitts and gloves with coordinating ribs and edging. Check out Pickle Pop, Loopy Lodge, Vacation Day, Cinnamon Toast, and all of the other fun colors in this line. Shown below in Loopy Lodge and Gothic Sweetheart.

Shalimar Breathless – This fingering weight yarn is 75% Superwash Merino, 15% Cashmere, and 10% Silk. Hand-dyed by Kristi in Maryland in wonderful color mixes and semi-solids. I have used Breathless for shawls (like this one and this one) and cowls (like this one) and it continues to be one of the yarns I gravitate to when picking yarn for projects. I love the way it feels to knit, and it’s wonderful to wear. If I was a better sweater knitter, I’d have a sweater out of the Breathless DK, too! Shown below in Love Potion and Limerick. Need project ideas? Try: Summer Dawn, Ballou, Tiger Lily Shawl, Cemara, or Daydream Believer.

Universal Cotton Supreme and Cotton Splash – A worsted weight 100% cotton that comes in 40 different solids, as well as 7 Splash colors. It has been popular for cool sweaters and shawls, as well as baby blankets and kids cardigans.

Universal Bamboo Pop – This sport weight yarn is 50% Bamboo and 50% Cotton and so soft to knit with. Perfect for people who are allergic to wool, but also works well for people who don’t like to be hot. You’ll like it for sweaters, shawls, scarves, cowls, and baby and kid clothes. Machine wash and dry makes it easy care, as well.

Knitter’s Pride needles and interchangeables – Re-stocked.

Sirka Bird Counters – These counters are great if your pattern has multiple rows, sections and stitches to keep track of. It allows you to keep track of three different counts at the same time.

Knitter’s Pride Knit Blocker Sets – This blocking set is designed to help you block sweaters, shawls, scarves and more without using individual pins. You’ll like how you can stretch and block your projects in half the time with this set. (Note – we sold out of these overnight but have plenty more ordered. If you’d like to have us reserve some for you, just shoot us an email: support@theloopyewe.com. They should be back in stock in a couple of weeks!)

  1. Gifts… at least 3. I have three baby blankets to knit, and one has already arrived!

Depending on how long those take, I might also make a pair of socks for DHs size 13.5 feet.

  2. I’ll be knitting at least 3 pair of mitts and 2 cowls for family and friends. Rhichard Devrieze “Peppino” scattered is versatile and the perfect yardage for light short cowls.

  3. Probably three or four: A toy for a friends toddler, a shrug for my granddaughter and something for my Mom and possibly my husband.

  4. I don’t consider the numerous pairs of socks I knit for others as proper ‘gifts’. They know the socks are coming because they have a say in the color of yarn and the patterns I use. I don’t present them on special occasions (like birthdays or Christmas); I give them all year long. I guess they are given “just because”.

  5. Probably 0 this year. I have knit Christmas gifts several years in the past but this year I think I might sew some aprons for gifts.

  6. I will knit/crochet things for charity and for myself, but I will never make a gift for friend/family again. I’ve seen too many painstakingly made gifts (some were even requested) get shoved into a linen closet to be forgotten, tossed on their floors, or ruined.

  7. I’m knitting three and weaving two presents. One present it already done as it was one of my Camp Loopy projects!

  8. Three – Two just need blocking and one is almost at the half way point! Finishing earlier this year as I am hand delivering Christmas presents overseas in October.

  9. At least 2 and only one of which is done. However, we all know how this goes…I’ll add a few more and be in a panic in December to get them ALL done in time!

  10. I always use the shawls I make during Camp Loopy as Christmas gifts for my mom and aunts. I am starting on Weasley sweaters for my kids for Christmas this year because I finally feel like I have the skill to knit sweaters that fit them.

  11. I will be knitting at least four gifts this fall. I’d love to knit more but I’m not sure how realistic that is – even four is a stretch! 🙂

  12. One, maybe two, but mostly for myself I think. My Mom and sister, who are the only other ones I really knit for both are having issues with wool yarn so all those woolly boxes of fun I received will have to be made into something for me! oh the burden I must bear. 😉

  13. I’m already planning my fall gift projects now.. I think I’ll be doing 2 or three projects.

  14. Yikes! Now that I count them up I need to have 4 lapghans made up by Christmas. And, no, I haven’t started any of them yet. >>>Stepping away from the computer to get started NOW.

  15. I’m guessing 5 – two are already completed and blocked. My two grandsons requested red scarves after they watched me knit while I was visiting them this summer!

  16. I will be working on 2-3 gift knits this fall. With a full-time job and school starting back up I unfortunately will not have much knitting time.

  17. Numerous gift knits! This is the time of year I match my favorite skeins with patterns for scarves, mitts, and hats for gifts. I’ll probably cast on over a dozen.

  18. I’m on no. 6 of 10. I figured this year I was NOT going to be up at midnight weaving in ends, nor would I be wrapping halfdones. Also, it let me buy lots of yarn early in the year. 🙂

  19. 4 major gifts and up to 10 mini gifts for the gals in my knitting group. Think I’m gonna make the knitters take out coffee cup sleeves.

  20. Unfortunately none. I currently have lateral epicondylitis in my right arm and am banned from knitting for the foreseeable future. I may lose my mind!

  21. Eleventy-seven. At least, that’s how many it will feel like it! So many yarns, so little time. 🙂

  22. I will be knitting at least 3 ‘big’ gifts, and frantically restocking my stash of washclothes and tea towels, as they are always being asked for!

  23. I have 15 Christmas ornaments to knit this Fall. I finished my individual gifts before Camp Loopy so I could enjoy camp.
