Camp Loopy Project Three!

How in the world did we get to Project Three for Camp Loopy already? This summer is flying by. I hope you’re having fun camping along with us! Today begins Camp Store Week for Project Three, and here are the details:

The Project Three Dates: Starting date is 7/27 and ending date is 8/27, with photos uploaded to the Project Three Gallery at The Loopy Ewe by 8/29.

The Challenge for Project Three: This project should:
1. contain two or more colors (because the Olympics are about working together in harmony, right?) plus,
2. must be at least 500 yds. single knit (not 250 yards doubled), plus,
3. be a pattern that you have not done before.

(Note – two colors meaning two different skeins, not two colors within one colorway/skein).

Camp Store Week for Project Three: If you need to purchase yarn for your project, we are offering a 20% Camp Loopy discount for the yarn during this month’s “Camp Loopy Store Week”.The discount for Project Three, is valid on one camp project’s worth of yarn purchased during Camp Store Week Two (Wednesday, July 11 – Tuesday, July 17). To get the discount, you will need to leave us an order note on the order, telling us which yarn will be used for your Camp Project. We can only apply the discount to one order, so you’ll need to calculate carefully and order what you need in a single order. We’ll apply the discount when your order comes through to us. If you’re going for free shipping in the U.S., please make sure that your discount won’t take you below the $75 level, or the website will add the shipping charge back in after we do the discount.

Another benefit: In addition to the 20% discount on your yarn during Camp Store Week, we’ll also double your Frequent Shopper Benefits from that yarn purchase, if your project is done and a photo of it is uploaded to our Camp Loopy Photo Gallery by the deadline. (Yarn must be purchased during this month’s Camp Store Week, 7/11-17, for the double credits benefit.)

Please review the other details and FAQ’s on the May 9, 2012 blog post to insure that you know the ins and outs of how all of this camp stuff works.

Camping Groups on Ravelry – if you’re on Ravelry and would like to chat about your Camp Projects, pop into the Loopy Groupie board and jump in! For Project Three, we’ll be dividing you into different Tents. Your Tent Number can be found on your Loopy receipt from your Camp Store Week purchase (on Loopy’s luggage tag in the drawing). If you’re using stash yarn, you’ll be in Tent 6. Those groups will go up on the Loopy Groupie board sometime within the next week. Right now, the bug groups for Project Two continue!

A reminder – to earn the free extra bonus yarn at the end, each project yarn needs to have been purchased during Camp Store Week or after, for that project.
Yarn used for Project One purchased: May 9 – June 25
Yarn used for Project Two purchased: June 11 – July 25
Yarn used for Project Three purchased: July 11 – August 25
Plus, all three finished project photos need to have been uploaded to our Loopy gallery by the due dates for each project.

It does take us an extra day or two to get all of the orders out during Camp Store Week. Just know that everyone is working extra days and hours in order to get your yarn to you as quickly as possible. We know you’re anxious to get it! (Although that’s always the case, right? Not just during Camp Loopy.)

So – what’re you going to make for Project Three? Thoughts? Ideas?

Sheri hopingoneofyourideasinspiresme.Stillundecided!

(Loopy has been outfitted for Camp, all summer long. He and his pal Socks oversee all Camp Loopy order packing. Socks is an old friend. He came from St. Louis Elf Susan’s mom’s childhood, and Loopy is glad to have Socks by his side at all times!)

  1. I’m thinking about West Knits Mystery KAL. The last clue is revealed on August 3, so I could get it done in time. It uses 2 colors of a light fingering weight. I’m hopin to purchase my yarn either this Saturday or Tuesday as I will be flying to FC on Saturday. So anxious to see my niece and The Loopy Ewe. Hope to also come to the Thursday night knit.

  2. I’ve just ordered my yarn and plan to do the Crystal Lake Shawl using Madelinetosh Vintage. I’ll rename it the Lake Loopy Shawl – or course! (When we were young, our parents used to take us to Crystal Lake in Wisconsin to boat and waterski. What memories flooded back when I found the Crystal Lake Shawl pattern!)

  3. Oh yay!!!!!! I’m off to find a real computer so I can order yarn. No idea yet what I’m gonna make though.

  4. I have been wanting to knit the Color Affection Shawl and was hoping it would work with the Project 3 guidelines..and it does!! I’m making mine out of Madelinetosh Merino Light. Can’t wait!

  5. Hooray!!!! I had some sweater ideas but this will be more manageable during what looks to be a busy month. Off to look at yarn for the Cameo shawl (which i discovered during Project One thanks to fellow campers!)

  6. Ok….so I really wanna make that cotton dress for my grand daughter – but I cant find any cotton at The Loopy Ewe!!!!! Sigh….back to the ‘deciding’ board!

  7. I have the perfect yarn to make the 3/4 hap shawl. I bought a skein of Hazel Knits, Artisan sock yarn at the store in April and I have another skein that I bought at Sock Summit. So I’m ready to go and I’m NOT changing my mind=)

  8. Pingback: Finally
  9. I’m so glad I’ll finally be able to make the Stripe Study Shawl in Tosh Merino Light! I wanted to make it for project 2, but I just wasn’t fast enough to get any of the colors I wanted. I’ve just ordered TML in Composition Book Gray and Norway Spruce and can’t wait to get started.

  10. Danielle – check under the Cascade tab. They have Ultra Pima Fine (fingering weight) and Ultra Pima (DK weight), as well as Fixation (fingering weight). We also have Universal Cotton Supreme (worsted weight), Kollage Riveting in DK and Worsted weights, Blue Sky Skinny Cotton in DK weight, and Amy Butler and Spud and Chloe in cotton/merino mixes.

  11. Wow! Time flies! Sheri, I understand all of the details except one, I think. In order to receive the double bonus points on our yarn orders, do we need to have purchased during Camp Sale week only or just from Loopy? I know I ordered during Camp Week 1, but missed the order on Camp sale week 2 by a couple of days. So would that second one be regular bonus points or double? I am going to make sure I order during the sale week 3 this time for sure. Thanks for having Camp! :).

  12. Lisa – the double FSB’s are for project yarn ordered during Camp Store Week, used in the project, with finished photo posted to the Loopy gallery by the deadline.

  13. I just ordered 2 skeins of Dream in Color Everlasting DK yarn for a Moody Kerchief for project #3. This pattern has been on my list for ages and it should go more quickly than the Secret of Change shawl that I’m knitting now in Dream in Color Smooshy! I like the Secret of Change pattern, but I’m into the 3rd short row section and I’ve probably only used half of the first skein of yarn! No wonder I primarily knit socks…these big projects sometimes seem like an endurance contest! 🙂

  14. Thanks Sheri!
I think I am going to try ” The Spiral Blanket of Awesomeness” by The Yarnista.(Sharon from Three Irish Girls). You can make it as small or as big as you want! And with 2 colors, this will be even more awesome!
If anyone is interested, two (or more) color pattern ideas: From Ravelry : 1. Peeta – a short row shawl and quite cool!
    2. The Kitefish Shawl- another 2 or more cool shawl! :). Enjoy.

  15. Sheri, I have a question.
I already have a skein of yarn from ShiBiu in my stash. It’s 191 yards. If I purchase 2 additional skeins from you and add them to the one I already have to get my 500 yards would that count? Or do I need to purchase a total of 500 yards or more from you to meet the requirement?

    Thanks Lydia.

  16. I am currently looking at doing Calliope’s Odyssey or Ziggity. I’ll see when the yarn arrives…. I like Derecho, but I am all “striped out” after Color Affection and I still have a few stripes to go!!

  17. I want to make Scalene. It looks so versatile! I’ll be over to shop for yarn in a couple of hours. 🙂

  18. Sheri,

Thank you so much for getting back to me!! Just one more question, sorry I’m new to the Camp Loopy thing lol. You indicated that its fine to add a stashed yarn to others that I purchase to complete my 500 yard project. I also just wanted to clarify that if I’m not buying the full 500 yards do I still qualify for the free skein of yarn at the end?

    Thanks again!!

  19. I’m super late in my order, but I plan to make the Leftie Shawl (which I keep writing as Leite. Not the same thing at all). I am definitely on a garter stitch, stripes and short rows kick.

  20. I am so bummed out. I finished the first project on time BUT didn’t have a camera to take photo. I’m working on project 2 but don’t think I’ll finish on time as the A/C is out, and new unit being installed. Project 3, I have something in mind but if I can’t finish 2 in time, I can’t start 3 and make it. Boo Hoo…but I WILL finish all of them.

  21. Sooooo what if you completely forgot to look at your receipt and now can’t find it?
I’ll be wandering around in the shrubbery with plenty of bug spray! 🙂

  22. Hi Sherri!

Was wondering if the project had to be one single project or if it could be a set… as in a Hat and Mittens or Baby sweater with hat and baby socks or adult socks and a hat… I’m still trying to settle on a project for round 3! Thanks!!

  23. Hi Sheri,
I just finished my project 3, in record time for me, but it did not use the 500 yards the pattern called for. May I still post it in the photo gallery even tho it doesn’t count? I am rather downhearted about it. 🙁
