A Little Bird Told Me …

…. that this week is W Week. (Remember last week was M Week? Malabrigo? Madelinetosh?) That means instead of a regular Monday Update tonight, we’re doing a few Wollmeise updates this week, different days, different times. As usual, we’ll be sure to announce it on Facebook and Twitter and Ravelry when each batch goes up. We just added Twin to the website this afternoon. If you miss one update, there will be another. We also still have several boxes stuck somewhere en route, so if we don’t get those this week, we’ll do another update next week, too. I’ll keep you posted on that.

Of course we’ll have another regular Monday Update next week with more fun things. They’re stacking up in the inventory room and we’re having fun poking through all of the boxes. In the meantime, since it’s W week, I have a wound 950 yd. skein of Wollmeise Lace to give away. I used less than half of the 1700 yd. skein to knit (held double) a Honey Cowl for a friend.  Isn’t that a pretty blue purple color?  I can’t remember the name. There is one knot in the very middle of the skein. I had divided it into two equal balls to knit double, then re-wound the leftover balls into one large cake. This is perfect yardage for another Honey Cowl held double (or two Honey Cowls!), a pair of light socks, a large shawl, a scarf and mitts, or a number of other things.  Just leave a comment below and I’ll draw a name at the end of the week for the winner. I know you’ll make it into something beautiful!

  1. Ha! I totally took advantage of “M” week and came away with “a few” skeins of madelinetosh. What is it about her tosh merino light that makes it IMPOSSIBLE to resist?? I hope I can make it two for two with “W” week!

  2. I’m so sad that I missed out on the update! I was literally having toe surgery and tried to get to the site fast enough on my phone!

  3. Oh yes WM Lace- I have a project that is calling for that! Keeping my fingers crossed that I can score a skein this week. Or win one here.

  4. WM, I just can’t catch the updates while at work and life is just been hectic. Oh, well I will try again later this week.

  5. Oh yay! Another contest. Love the bird photo. With the arrival of Spring, the songbirds are out in force these days!

  6. Love the contest, but most of all, love the little feathered friend that adorns the blog. I would love to win the yarn and create a lovely cowl for someone. So put my name in the drawing. It is an awesome opportunity.

  7. Yay for Wollmeise updates, it’s either been a long time since the last update or I have just been completely missing the boat.

  8. Ooh, I’ll bet that blue looks great with jeans…and a hot pink tshirt! Hmm, now I’m getting ideas….

  9. Hi Sheri! My MIL is from Germany and I’m sure she would enjoy playing with the wollmeise 🙂 I love the pattern for the Honey Cowl – I may have to learn how to knit in the round just to make one! That seems easier than mastering the whole sock thing… Have a great day

  10. love the color and I just told my cousin I would knit her something special for her 70th bd so please enter me for the drawing!

  11. I’ve had the Honey Cowl on my need to knit list for a long time, and was just trying to find the right yarn. Please pick me pick me!

  12. I’ve never timed it right to be able to buy any Wollmeise, so winning some would be really cool!

  13. Summer vacation just started …. I’m lining up my knitting and would love to add Wollmeise to the projects!

  14. May I enter for the Woolmeise drawing? Thank you!

I loved your owl photos and have sent your blog link to many friends. The owls DO look peeved, don’t they, with those chevron-shaped bars between their eyes. You’re so right about the talons, too! Look at any good field guide and compare owls and hawks. Hawks are MUCH more delicate (although no less lethal). Owls are powerful hunters. It was great fun to see the messy, gangly, lumbering young ‘uns, esp knowing what elegant birds they’ll turn into.

My best to all there. I love your store.

  15. The Honey Cowl has been on the ‘list’ for awhile now – and blue is my favorite color – it’s a sign, right? Must.knit.honey.cowl.now.

  16. I didn’t see the update in time – this time! I will be on the lookout though the rest of the week. I’d love the will the Woolmeise too.

  17. Wow. I think I would make fingerless gloves. I cannot find the silk/cashmere pair I made a few years ago, and I’m still always cold. It would be perfect for it!

  18. have always wanted to try WM lace! (which is more likely to happen – winning the drawing, or catching an update?!!)

  19. Found the first cowl that I love and therefore am motivated enough to knit – and this would be perfect!

  20. W week. I love the topic for the week and thanks for the patten idea of the honey cowl, I hadn’t seen that yet.

Last week I had I week. I for inlaws.

Hope you have a great W week.

  21. I need some W in my life and a blue and purple mix would be more than lovely. I wear a lot of blue and purple and I just know that I can find something really fine to make out of a bit of W!

I hope your W week is lovely! We are having some lovely weather with lots of wild birds winging around in the slight wind below the clouds that are wafting by in the wild blue wonderous blue sky with purple edged white clouds aloft in the windy open heavens.

    Best wishes,
    Maureen
