A Little Bird Told Me …

…. that this week is W Week. (Remember last week was M Week? Malabrigo? Madelinetosh?) That means instead of a regular Monday Update tonight, we’re doing a few Wollmeise updates this week, different days, different times. As usual, we’ll be sure to announce it on Facebook and Twitter and Ravelry when each batch goes up. We just added Twin to the website this afternoon. If you miss one update, there will be another. We also still have several boxes stuck somewhere en route, so if we don’t get those this week, we’ll do another update next week, too. I’ll keep you posted on that.

Of course we’ll have another regular Monday Update next week with more fun things. They’re stacking up in the inventory room and we’re having fun poking through all of the boxes. In the meantime, since it’s W week, I have a wound 950 yd. skein of Wollmeise Lace to give away. I used less than half of the 1700 yd. skein to knit (held double) a Honey Cowl for a friend.  Isn’t that a pretty blue purple color?  I can’t remember the name. There is one knot in the very middle of the skein. I had divided it into two equal balls to knit double, then re-wound the leftover balls into one large cake. This is perfect yardage for another Honey Cowl held double (or two Honey Cowls!), a pair of light socks, a large shawl, a scarf and mitts, or a number of other things.  Just leave a comment below and I’ll draw a name at the end of the week for the winner. I know you’ll make it into something beautiful!

  1. The Honey Cowl is very pretty. If I am lucky enough to win I will make one of those or maybe a Dipped Infinity Cowl ( but in 1 colorway as opposed to many). Wollmeisse is great and purple wollmeisse is even better. Kitty smiles Arlene

  2. Fortunately for me I don’t know what all the hype is, so I don’t get so upset about missing out, but maybe just maybe I will have the pleasure of experiencing this yarn….thanks for the opportunity!

  3. A little birdie told me to leave a comment because I might get lucky enough to win some Wolleise!!

  7. I’ve actually been considering giving up on what I was doing with some yarn I have and making a Honey Cowl instead, so this is nudging me towards that decision even if I’m not sure I want to rip back yet… And maybe one day I will find out what Wollmeise is like.

  8. That would make an awesome gift for a friend of mine who is an amazing knitter – and an amazing friend.

  9. I love the Honey Cowl and the colorway! I enjoy your blogs everyweek Sheri.
Thanks for making all of us feel like we are your best friend.

  10. Mmm, I love that color. I’ve been able to knit with 100%, but never Lace. There’s a first time for everything, though, right?

  11. I have heard tales of the glories of Wollmeise and have even oggled a skein or two, courtesy of a friend with an enviable stash. And the colour!!! While you can’t go wrong with pretty much any Wollmeise colourway, bluepurple would be a magical way to begin a journey with this amazing wool! Stunning cowl, by the way.

  12. The Wollmeise you used for your Honey Cowl is beautiful. The Honey Cowl is next on my project list. Along with another Sothia.

  13. A great laceweight poncho came up on Ravelry today, and I’d probably use the yarn for that. Gorgeous.
