It has been a busy day (getting all of your Second Quarter Challenge orders out), so this is coming to you a little late in the day. When we pack up your orders, we always have fun talking about what you might be making (and hoping that you get it done so that you’ll submit a photo for us to see!) We love being a part of your shopping here, from me checking out your selections when I write on your orders, to the Elves pulling them and packing them up carefully. Thanks for letting us be your personal shoppers as we walk around the shop, filling up the order bin for you. We get to enjoy all of your yarn vicariously and then send it on its way to your house!
Tomorrow we’ll be doing more shopping for you, because we just put up some beautiful things on the website for tonight’s Monday Update.
- Malabrigo Worsted – 28 colors to choose from for sweaters, vests, hats and scarves. (Shown above in Nostalgia.)
- Malabrigo Rios – 5 colors are in – more on the way soon.
- Malabrigo Arroyo – everything re-stocked.
- Malabrigo Lace – 30 colors for your summerweight shawls and wraps.
- Cascade 220 – the wall is filled up again. I love it when the 220 Wall is full.
- Cascade Heritage Sock – fingering weight, great for socks!
- Cascade Heritage Silk – fingering weight, great for shawls (with that extra silk in there.)
- Della Q Bags – re-stocked.
- Knitter’s Pride Interchangeable Tips – sizes 4-13, to go with the cords we have up.
- Knitter’s Pride Cable Needles – 3 to a set.
- Mary Hadley Loopy Ewe Yarn Bowls – remember, these have to ship separately so that we can pack them well. We’re happy to have these back in stock!
- Mary Hadley Loopy Ewe Flared Mugs – ditto. They must ship on their own, and they’re as cute as ever.
- Perfect Notions Cases – for your stitchmarkers, darning needles, little stitch counters, etc. I keep one in each knitting bag.
- And at the end of last week (in time for our Cotton Challenge), we added in:
- Namaste Bags – Messenger and Boardwalk (backpack) bags, and Buddy Cases
- Knitter’s Pride Needles – re-stocked
- Stonehedge Fiber’s Shepherd Wool Worsted – re-stocked (and shown here in Misty Blue.)
You’d think that all of those updates and re-stocks would last us a good long while, wouldn’t you? But the back stock room is filled up again with new boxes that arrived today, which we’ll work on for next Monday. Aren’t Mondays fun??
Now for the contest. The weather is getting warmer here and spring and summer are just around the corner. It makes me wonder – do you have a favorite season for knitting? Fall, when you’re thinking of holiday gifts? Winter, when it’s too cold outside to do anything else? Spring, when you’re dreaming of lightweight shawls? Summer, when it’s too hot and you are thinking about cool-weather wear? Or do you knit year-round pretty much the same amount? I knit the same amount year round, in all seasons. I can’t imagine cutting back! Leave your answer below and we’ll draw for $25 Loopy Ewe Gift Certificates next week.

I knit all year round. I enjoy the change of seasons as it affects my choices of what to knit and when.
All year round, pretty much every day. I think my favorite is actually summer – I spend lots of time outside, chatting and knitting socks (small enough to be comfortable to work even in wool) and lace scarves and shawls. I keep bulkier things like wool sweater and afghans to work on in cooler weather.
I am an all year round knitter. I wish I could say I plan my knits around the seasons but I don’t even do that. Except I am always itching to start a sweater on New Years day for myself. I think it is all the selfless gift giving the month before.
I knit all year round and pretty much the same amount unless I “get a bug” like the hexipuff bug and then I knit even more !
I knit year ’round, and what I knit has no bearing on what the current weather is. It’s hot outside? Chances are I’m making a nice warm cardigan. Cold, or relatively cold since I’m in SoCal? Chances are I’m making a nice lightweight lace shawl. Wish I could plan my knitting around the seasons, but when I see something I like I knit it, no matter what the weather.
I knit all year long – almost every day. I am making a winter hat right now, and chances are I won’t wear it until next year. So I knit whatever, whenever.
I knit year-round pretty much the same amount.
I love my projects.

I love knitting all year, but my favorite is planning holiday knitting and gifts!
I knit year round but I love winter the most. I love winter the best for everything (I love soup and I adore coats) but I live in California. I don’t knit with cotton, silk or linen and I don’t knit lace shawls but you’ll find me knitting long sleeve sweaters in August and big chunky cowls daydreaming of Norway or Scotland.
I enjoy knitting all year long, but usually have more time during the winter.
I KNIT ‘N WALK AND YES, SOMETIMES CHEW GUM (SUGAR-FREE) AT THE SAME TIME! I MADE A YARN HOLDER FROM A PLASTIC LID OF A COFFEE CAN! I ONLY TAKE MY SIMPLE UNTHINKING LITTLE PROJECTS WALKING. IT’S AMAZING HOW MANY SCARVES, DISHCLOTHS AND HATS RESULTED FROM THE PAST YEAR’S KNIT ‘N WALKS—I WISH I COULD SAY THE SAME FOR THE WEIGHT LOSS–HOPEFULLY, THAT’S IN THE WORKS OR SHOULD I SAY WALKS OF 2012!
Winter is my favorite time to knit. I enjoy having a project going year round to take with me to work on when I’m waiting somewhere. It helps to pass the time and accomplish someting all at once.
I think I knit the most in the spring.
It is sometimes harder to knit in the summer when it is so hot here in the south but I just look for smaller projects. I can’t imagine not knitting year round.
I knit at the same pace all year long. I have some time off in the summer so that gives me more opportunities to knit but I love playing outside as well!!
I knit all year!
I pretty much knit or crochet all year round, however I tend to taper off during the hot sticky days of summer.
I knit pretty much the same year round, but will sometimes switch up what I’m knitting with the seasons (I don’t knit big heavy wool things in the summer is basically my decision, so I knit smaller wool things. :D)
I knit all the time now that I am a Loopy Groupie! I have air conditioning and a really long list of different items I want to knit! I do save the bulkies and worsted and lopi for the wintertime. I am trying to knit lots of socks this year!
I knit all year long – can’t imagine not knitting just becuase it’s hot outside. 🙂
My favorite knitting season is fall. I’m still full of energy from summer and full of great ideas for sweaters, shawls and all sorts of things to keep me and mine warm.
I knit/crochet year round.
I knit year round!!!!
I think I knit close to the same amount year round, but probably a little more during winter because we generally spend more hours indoors. I love knitting in front of the fire while it’s snowing! Oppositely, I probably knit a little less during summer since there are more outdoor and social activities.
I knit obsessively year round! I can’t imagine not knitting!
Another year round knitter here, though on the really hot days in summer I can’t touch wool, so I usually do some other craft then.
ALL THE TIME. i never stop knitting!!!
I knit all year round but I think summer works best for me. In the summer I can knit outside and the fibers do not bother my allergies so much.
I love to knit year around and a little bit every day always have four or five projects going at one time.I work on 2or3 different projects a day.
I probably do most of my knitting from late fall through early spring, when it’s too cold to be working outside in my yard and garden. However, I do knit all year round but not as much during warm weather as I have other projects that get my attention.
I knit all year long and whatever I’m in the mood for at that time (my stash is sure big enough). I tend to knit worsted weight wools when it is cooler, which isn’t long in Florida! I don’t do a lot of heavy stuff. We just don’t wear it here!
Fall is my favorite time to knit, because I know I’ll get to wear it as soon as it’s finished!
I knit year around. If I don’t have a project going I tend to start having knitting withdrawals and believe me it isn’t pretty ;).
For me every season is knitting season. I just knit different projects depending on the temperature. Sweaters are for fall and winter and lace is for spring and summer. Socks are a year round pleasure:)
I knit year round, I love knitting socks, so the warmer weather does not stop me at all.
I knit year round. I do seem to slow down just a bit during the summer, though, and my favorite season to knit is fall – something about the crispness in the air makes me look forward to curling up on the couch with something warm to drink and my knitting in my lap. 🙂
knitting keeps me sane, entertained and relaxed. i try to knit every day!
I knit year round and it seems like I always have knitting needles in my hands. I have been working on lace shawls for the last year but I did start a pair of socks and have the first sock done and working on the second sock. I got burned out about 4 yrs. ago as I had made 14 pairs of socks for Christmas and I thought that I would never get them done, so I have not made any socks for awhile.
And I will knit it in the rain.
And in the dark. And on a train.
And I will knit in a car. And in a tree.
Knitting is so good anytime, you see!
Modified from Dr Suess, but it is what came to mind, when i was trying to answer the question!
I knit as much as possible all year long. I just change they weight and fiber that I am using to stay comfortable in the heat.
Thanks for another great contest, and happy knitting!!!
Mary Beth
Too much to knit and not enough time.. Every single day of the year I knit.
I knit all year round, non stop. I knit inside by the fire on a cold winter’s day (though we didn’t have many of those this year). I knit outside by the firepit on a lovely autumn afternoon or evening. I knit on my porch in the Spring and Fall. I knit with the AC blasting in the summer. I knit at the beach. I knit at the library. I knit everywhere and all the time.
I try to knit year round, but I do love knitting larger projects in the winter. Summer tends to be more for socks and wristers. 🙂
I knit all year round! I try to stay away from knitting large, extra warm objects when it is hot out since it can be an unpleasant experience to have that wool blanket on your lap when it’s 90 out! But there are plenty of smaller and/or lighter weight things to work on when it’s hot.
I knit all year round, but find the most inspiration during late fall. That’s when I find myself going through patterns and buying yarn like crazy.
I am most inspired to knit in late summer. I love knitting with colors the color of fall leaves and dreaming about the changing weather to come.
I love to knit year round – lighter items in the summer and nice warm woollies for the cold Canadian winters when the weather cools.
It is easier to knit wool when it is cooler outside. So during the really a lot weather, I knit with cotton, or silk. So aim always knitting, just with different types of yarn!
I love knitting all year but my favorite time is the Fall. The air is crisp and the Adirondack and Green Mountains are just breath-taking.
Since I am a beginner, any time I can knit is my favorite time. Of course, I haven’t hit the hot muggy days of summer in AL yet!
