My Favorite Valentine and a CONTEST

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all! I hope you’re feeling loved by all of the special people in your life today. My favorite thing about Valentine’s Day is that it’s Knitting Daughter’s Birthday. 🙂 And here’s one of my favorite photos of her when she was about three. Now she’s all grown up and enjoying life at college. I don’t know where the time went between then and now. I’m pretty sure that it was just a few weeks ago that she was sitting on the kitchen counter and I snapped this photo. WH and I zipped over to Indiana to surprise her over the weekend. Not for the whole weekend. You can’t surprise a college student for the entire weekend and expect that they don’t already have plans!  So we went late Saturday night and claimed Sunday morning (church) and Sunday lunch with her. It was a lot of fun and makes it a smidgeon easier to be this far away from her on her actual birthday, today. (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JULIA!!)

So that’s my favorite thing about today. What’s your favorite thing about today? Leave your message in the comments below and we’ll run the random number generator on Friday, to see who wins some beautiful red yarn. See all of those skeins in the photo? We’re pulling prizes from there. We made that to put up on the webcam for you today, hoping you feel the Loopy love!

  1. My favorite thing about Valentine is that it seems like the one day that everyone shows love to one another, not just sweethearts or husbands / wifes, but all toward one another. We need to remember that God loved everyone enough to send His only Son to die for everyone’s sins. That is the best gift of all.

  2. Seeing RED more than usual, chocolate – devouring it more than usual!!! and always receiving a handmade Valentine’s card from one of my girlfriends.

  3. My favorite thing about today is that I got married! And, of course, the obligatory flowers and chocolate 🙂

  4. To me Valentines Day is a time to give to those you love…not just a material thing, but, something from your heart to make them feel special. Hybby and I were the recepients this morning of a nice man “paying it forward” we didn’t know him and he left before we did, at the restaurant we were having breakfast, we discovered that he had paid for our breakfast and wished us a Happy Valentines Day! Nice.

  5. I work at a chocolate shop over Valentine’s Day. I love seeing the mix of people. While there are always a few people looking for the cheapest, smallest or easiest thing to show they care, so many people try to make a real show of their affection. It doesn’t have to be expensive, but when they make sure that a chocolate assortment only contains the favorites or they buy something not chocolate because their SO doesn’t like chocolate it shows that they really think about each other.

  6. Oh my, the sun shined today…so warm….just like a lover’s kiss. Well, that, and some snow melted. Whoo hoo!!

  7. What I love about today is that the sun shone and the air was warm, and the snow is gone. And red is one of my favorite colors!

  8. My favorite thing is being able to spend it with my husband as we are living at opposite ends of New Zealand at the moment.

  9. My very favorite things about Valentine’s Day is we often talk about when we first met, dated and fell head over heals. Remembering those times mean the world to me – still.

  10. My favourite thing about Valentine’s Day, is that it symbolises love, spring, new growth and passion! Everything you need coming out of a cold winter…Enjoy it all!

  11. Today the sun was shining and the temps got to the mid to upper 40’s and that’s something to celebrate here in CT. It means the snow is slowly melting and spring can’t be that far, can it? Got some cute Valentine cards and yummy chocolate from some storytime children, too. Most of us in the library wore red and so did so many children and grownups. Nice to see everyone feeling the love. Everyone seemed cheery; must be the red. Gotta love it. Happy Valentine’s Day!

  12. Well, Valentine’s Day is not overly celebrated here, but it is always nice to be reminded that you are loved. Plus, every day in February is a day closer to spring, baby!

  13. If it’s a school day,my favorite thing is listening to the chorus students serenade students and teachers. They sound quite nice and it’s always great to see another side of the students. The money raised from each $2 serenade goes to support their annual competition trip in May.

  14. Yummy chocolate, but what I really miss were the little handmade shoebox Valentine’s mailboxes we had in grade school, and the perforated Valentines we handed out. Totally egalitarian!

  15. My favorite thing: being woken up by my husband of 20 years with “Happy Valentine’s Day” and a big kiss. Great way to start the day!

  16. My favorite thing about Valentine’s day is how much fun it is. It’s quite entertaining to be around a middle school on a day like today. And my honey made today lovely as well!

  17. I love seeing my kids come home with valentines from school – it make me feel like I am back in elementary school again. However, I never got all of the candy and goody bags with valentines that they get now.

  18. My favorite thing today was making a wonderful dinner for my husband and I to enjoy. We even have apple pie for dessert !!!

  19. My most favorite thing about the day would have to be chocolate! but,it is one of the few days that I am able to actually take the time and cook a full dinner to eat with my daughter. It happens to seldom in this busy busy life.

  20. The most favourite thing about today is remembering the love my parents shared and knowing how lucky I am that a found one that equals it.

  21. My favorite thing about Valentine’s day is that everyone around me seems to be in a happy mood. Maybe it’s the red and pink colors. maybe it’s the chocolate. or Maybe it’s knowing that spring is coming. Whatever it is, I always enjoy it.

  22. My favorite thing about today is a card tied in a pretty pink ribbon from my husband of 34 years. Still my favorite valentine.
