Several of you have asked us to do a post showing the progression of orders here at The Loopy Ewe, so today, Loopy is going to follow one order from start to finish and show you what happens to your order, once you hit the “place order” button!
We come in first thing in the morning and print the orders out. Then I write on them and check out the fun things that you ordered.  🙂
The stack of orders goes out to the main packing area and gets put into the order tray.
Next we add one order (and order giftie) to each of the bins on our rolling cart. We have two rolling carts like this and we just keep re-filling them all day long until the orders are done.
Here are the red bins full of the different gifties that go into your orders, depending on which order number this is for you.
Once the rolling cart has been filled, it gets pulled back over to the wrapping counters.
And then we package up each of your orders.
Next, your order gets put into a box. We tape both ends of the boxes now because the adhesive that the post office uses is worthless. It used to work. Now it doesn’t. And we sure don’t want the flaps opening up and your yarn getting dumped somewhere enroute. (Loopy doesn’t get to use the tape dispenser, for obvious reasons.)
The box gets weighed and we write your last name, your order number, and the weight on the outside of the box.
We enter that into the computer and it processes the shipping label to go on your box.
Then the boxes are wheeled to the front lobby area to wait for the mailman to appear and take them on their way to your house.
If you’re lucky, the box goes directly from our front lobby to your mailbox. If the postal service is up to some tricks, they might send your box from one end of this country to the other, and THEN deliver it to your mailbox. FPS. We do love packing up your orders and sending them off to you every day!

I really liked seeing how the whole process works! I must say, one of the things which has brought me back again and again (um.. 3 times in the last 3 weeks uh oh!) is getting that personal note in each and every order.
I love it!
Loopy definitely deserves a raise!
I think I saw my “Loopy Groupie” tote on one of those pics! I received it and the other wonderful gifts today – thank you so much!!! The post office has been very good about shipping my packages straight from Loopy to me! Thanks for showing us a day in your “shipping” department – and thank you for your wonderful product and fast, personal service.
How do you not have people coming in and begging you for a job all the time? It looks like fun to work with Loopy.
This was so cute, I love it! Let me tell ya, now I see why it is such an absolute delight when I open one of these boxes! <3 TLE!
When I paid for my sock club this month and hit the submit button, I wondered how it always gets to me so fast. Thanks, Loopy, for letting me know. Wish you were in my box…love you!
What fun! My little Loopy sits on the table next to me while I knit. Sometimes he urges me to start a new project, just to use the pretty new wool, while the UFO’s languish in the basket nearby! Thank you for being the best enabler ever!
I loved this post! And I’ve added a little Loopy guy to my wish list. He is just soooo cute!
Sheri, that was such a cute post!!! I love it!
It is really lovely to see how it all happens. I’ll be able to imagine it now, each time. I love all the little Loopys getting up to mischief in the photos.
That is a lot of love going into making sure all your yarn addicts receive their goodies the quickest way possible!! I received my sock package and was thrilled!!! I love everything in the box!!! Thanks so much!!
Fun post! When my sock club package arrived on Friday night I had to fight my daughter to open the box. She’s a knitter too and even though she’s only 12 she knows great care went into the wrapping and packaging of a Loopy Ewe order. Then there’s the candy. I hear it’s good. I grab the yarn — kid grabs the candy! WIN WIN in my book!
So cute! Thanks for sharing! I wonder though…what is that pretty blue yarn being wrapped up? Hmmm
This has to be one of my all time favorite blog posts of yours. I love seeing the process, and the hilarious pictures with Loopy helping the elves to pack our orders. Thank you so much for this. It made me smile this morning seeing Loopy and all his antics in getting our orders out. 🙂
Thanks for the tour Loopy! Stay away from the tape dispenser next time ~ that’s the Elves job!
What a great post! Definitely keep Loopy away from the tape dispenser and the stapler too! Thanks for the tour–I love Loopy’s job.
Great post! Do you need any help around Loopy Central, or does little Loopy have it under control?
Thanks for sharing how it all works! I wonder why the post office changed adhesive. THe new stuff is awful.
I swear that was my order…..LOL
Thanks for the peek into the inner workings of Loopy. I do miss the pull tab that the postal boxes had. It made it easier to open the box. The current ones don’t seem to have that.
Little loopy made my day!
Adorable post – AND it answers the riddle of the tape!
Great post — interesting to see all the steps each order takes. I wondered if that note was handwritten — thought it was once, and then photocopied before the order was printed on……I couldn’t imagine you really sign them all–WOW! Loopy Central MUST be a fun place to work, all that yarn, beautiful colors, great co-workers, great boss! :), Loopy, big and small, treats brought in to work, and chocolate–sign me up! 🙂
Thanks Loopy! You rock! Stay away from the tape!
Bright, sunny, warm here in MD!
Oh my gosh! This is just toooo cute. My husband is a printer and was forwarded your FPS comment about your printing woes – I’m sorry you aren’t local, Saint Tim actually knows how to cut paper… Anyway, had to look you up and what a wonderful blog post! Now I’m going to have to go look and see if I can order a Loopy!!! Because I really need one more sheep around here. At least Loopy works for a living ;-).
