It’s probably a given that in a week that contained a Wollmeise-fest and Sock Club notices would be a rather tough week for all. An “It bugs me” post seemed appropriate today, given the mood of things around here, and we haven’t done one in awhile. (Gracie’s list of what bugs her? When people interrupt a nap to take her photo.)
So here are the things that are bugging me today:
1. Sock club limitations. I hate telling people no. (I have referred to that before – remember the Spring Fling?) I think we have figured out a way to take double our numbers for next years club, so I hope those of you who didn’t get in this year will come back. We really want to make spots for you.
2. My ipod. Well, not the ipod, specifically, but I am tired of the songs on there and want new ones. I know you all gave me bunches of great music suggestions awhile back, but it’s just a matter of downloading all of that new music. Which I haven’t done yet. So I keep listening to the same ‘ol, same ‘ol. FPS.
3. Website slowness during a particularly busy Sneak Up. But the good news is that we have found a great new (very large) server and will be upgrading to that sometime next week. You shouldn’t notice any slowness during Sneak Ups any more, no matter how many of you are shopping at once. (Ahem – at least that’s the plan.) No Sneak Up next week so that we can switch over and get things running. The next one will be sometime the week of the 28th.
4. Haircuts. And highlights. I haven’t had time to get my haircut or have highlights done lately. Consequently, today is a very bad hair day. I’m glad you can’t see me. I wish I looked just fine with long, straight, one-color hair. But I kinda think I look like a dog that way. (One of those afghan hounds, you know?)
5. Dust. Why is it so relentless about wanting to cover all of the surfaces in my house all the time? What’s up with that?
6. Sugar and vegetables. Why is it that vegetables are “good” for you and sugar is “bad” for you? Why can’t it work so that everyone must have 3 servings of dessert a day, and vegetables are only allowed on occasion? Someone messed that up.
7. Political ads and commercials. It has barely started and I’m already tired of listening to them and seeing them. And it’s only gonna get worse. I wonder if any of the candidates knit? (Somehow I think not. But it’d be good for a few of them…..)
8. 24 hour days. I’d really prefer 36 hour days. Just sayin’.
I have more, but I’ll stop there for today. So to end on a positive note, it’s time for Q4 voting! Please head over to the Q4 Photo Gallery and then email me (sheriATtheloopyeweDOTcom) your vote for favorite project from last quarter. We will award Loopy Gift Certificates to one person randomly selected and one person who wins the “blog readers favorite” award. I’ll announce the winner next Friday!
(And I’d love to hear what bugs you today – but I already know about the not enough Wollmeise and not enough Sock Club spots ……..) 🙂
Sheri oneofourindiedyersisvisitingLoopytoday-I’llputherpictureonMonday’sblog!
You can’t lose us Sheri!
I know I’ll be trying again next year and the years after that. I’m not disappointed enough to give up totally…please, I love a little competition every now and then.
Not much bugging me here except that there is not enough knitting time. I need new stuff on my iPod too though. Have a great weekend.
What bugs me is that people have made you feel bad more than once this week. It bugs me big time. But you knew that already. Almost 1/4 of the way done with the order. By Sunday it will be 1/2! 🙂
It REALLy bugs me that i heard people were being mean and rude to you and felt entitled to the wonderful services and sneak ups you do for us. You do wonderful things for us and it bothers me that people don’t understand that you’re human and are completely entitled to sitting in front of a movie knitting and you don’t need to be becking to their every wish and call. Sheri RULES!
What bugs me:
1. Way cold here with minus (that’s below zero) 27 degrees and projected high of minus 2.
2. Trying to divide 5 cast on stitches onto DPNs for the start of a top down hat-impossible.
3. Watching my 80+ yr old parents change as they age-sad.
Can’t have “bugs” without “happys”
1. Looking forward to the Spring Fling and the Sock Club-how could I be so fortunate!!
2. Getting to check into see how you’re doing MWF on the blog. I don’t know how you managed this week with the Loopy tipping, sock club, crazy Loopy groupies (including me) with the non-stop posting on ravelry-very much fun-I couldn’t stop reading them.
3. Happy that my parents are still functioning on their own with just a bit of help from DH and self.
Try to get some rest and have a latte today. What a stressful week, esp. trying to get a new server, etc.
See if you can get College Guy to help you by setting up some new playlists on your iPod; not ’cause you couldn’t, you’re just to busy with all of us.
Today my computer is bugging me, it’s too slow.
I wish there was no such thing as laundry- self wasing clothes!
It bugs me to have to go in to work early on a Friday. It really bugs me that I have to go early to have my yearly employee evaluation. I feel like I’ve been bad and am headed for the principals office. It bugs me that all my coworkers will complain about you no matter how good your work is.
I think I need to go knit something or play in my sock yarn collection!
It bugs me that I had to call in sick today. Not that it’s so horrible to have a cold – hey, it happens, and at least it’s not the flu – but we have a three day weekend and calling in sick the Friday before a three day weekend just stinks. I feel guilty. (But when I’m not sleeping, I’m knitting. It keeps the guilty at bay.)
What bugs me today is when my kids ask me questions where they already know the answer. We saw a turtle at the zoo, right? It’s cold today, right?
Not enough hours in the day to homeschool the kids and do what I want to do. At least I can knit while they’re reading.
Vacuuming. We live in the woods and the kids are always out hiking. Stuff is constantly being tracked in and I just can’t keep up with it.
The price of gas. It costs too much just to get to town. I might as well order online. 😉
On my mp3 player, I have the mp3 version of my favorite movies(ripped from my dvds). That way I can listen to the movie and knit.
It bugs me that I have to find a new car…..I had to “retire” mine….too much wrong with it. Now I have to search – hate car shopping. Bugs me that I don’t have enough time to knit; job gets in the way . Bugs me that I have to wait until March for the sock club to begin!!!!!! Thank you, thank you – you were a huge part of a very good day yesterday!
Actually, it’s been a fairly good week for me, so there’s not too much bugging me. I take this as a good thing.
What does but me:
Not having enough money to get anything from the sneak up last week. It’s going for the Spring Fling, so for now, I’ll just have to drool.
The newspaper guy who, in spite of my making 4 calls now, STILL doesn’t put my mom’s paper by the front door. She’s 79 with bad arthritis, and it’s been cold and snowy here in Chicago, so there’s ice on the walk. Every time I call to complain, it moves farther away from the front door, FPS. What’s up with that? The OTHER newspaper delivery person (we get two papers, and they’re two different people) doesn’t have any trouble with understanding that my front door is not the garage door or the neighbor’s yard. **Grumble** 🙁 (Gee, I guess that one REALLY bugs me….)
And you know, those 24 hour days bug me a bit, too, Sheri. I could use more hours. It would be more knitting time, as well as more time to get all the other stuff that needs doing finished.
But my positive note, I am teaching private crochet lessons for the next three weekends! WHOO-HOO! That’s more $$ to put towards the Spring Fling! 😎
I’m bugged that you’re bugged. I’m going to say it….you need a SHERI DAY!!!
I’m not too bugged today. I have a 3-day weekend to knit socks and start my stole for the Secret of the Stole ii. I’m planning on watching movies and staying in my warm house. BRRRRR, it’s going to be cold outside. Must remember to put feed out for my feathered friends.
My boss bugs me. It’s been a very bad week on that front. I just try to keep in perspective that it’s HIM, not me and generally speaking, not the company. It just bugs me that it takes so darn long for the people above HIM to figure out that he can’t do his job. And despite what he might be hoping for, I’m NOT working over the 3 day weekend because, you know, I have knitting plans.
And it might be nice to cook some real food instead of living on Lean Cuisine and takeout. And possibly even do some proactive laundry and a modicum of house cleaning. Food and Knitting – more important by far!
I’m sidestepping most of the political ads by turning on the tv pretty much only for the news and then living on a diet of Netflix and audiobooks 😉
It bugs me that my dh can build and awesome fire but mine fizzle out in less than an hour because I wasn’t a boy scout.
It bugs me when people drive like they always have the right of way… no matter what.
It bugs me that I can’t survive on chocolate and Dr. Pepper and be skinny and feel healthy.
What bugs me:
1. Knitters who already have skeins of Wollmeise in their stash but bought more during the last Sneak Up, resulting in me still having NONE, nada, zip, zero.
2. Bosses who provide a big fattening, unhealthy lunch when I am trying so hard to lose weight.
3. Global Warming — will I ever have a Snow Day (work closed) again so I can just sit and knit and admire how pretty it is outside??
4. The Network powers that be who won’t meet with or strike a deal with the Writer’s Guild. I can take only so many Reality shows and re-runs! I want my Journey Man back (merrrrow Kevin McKidd!!)
That’s it for today. I’m sure there is more, but I should be working. Shhh, don’t tell I’m reading blogs!
Weellll yes on the not enough wollmeise, but I got into the club, so that makes up for it! I can’t wait to see what you cook up for us.
I’ve got work today so that sucks, but I’ve got roving waiting for me at the post office and I get paid today, so there’s incentive to go to work to get my check.
Other than that…nothing bugging me today!
It bugs me that I have had a sinus infection for two weeks and feel horrible. I’m going on my 3rd antibiotic today. 1st didn’t work, 2nd made me sick, I hope this one will help. It really bugs me that no matter how much you do for some people they always complain. You should not have to put up with such stress. Most of us really appreciate all you do for us. Hugs
I agree with Melissa, I am “bugged” that people are making you feel sad about the sock club and Wollmeise. I realize that yarn is addictive to most of us (me included, I love a good sniff and petting now and then). But honestly, this past week has shown me that there’s more to life than yarn…..it could be the perspective that my friend who was only 45 years old died this week of cancer. You can’t take the yarn with you when you go, and I know that I have enough for a lifetime. 🙂
PS – I’m bugged because they won’t let me see my daughter today when I drop off her b-day treats at school, because some moronic parent dressed as a clown last time….FPS!
It bugs me that some people are bugging you via email, etc! I think you and the Loopy Elves are quite wonderful and I just don’t understand the need for people to be mean, FPS!
I agree with you on the sugar and veggies – why do I like sugar and hate veggies?
Otherwise? My immediate supervisor bugs me (I don’t know if I should say that in public, but I just did because he bugs me sooo much – but I know I’m not alone in that statement, so that’s a good thing!!).
But, the #1 thing bugging me right now is that I’ve been so tired lately that I hardly have any time for reading and/or knitting – my two most favorite things to do. Fortunately, Alfred Hitchcock Presents has saved me because apparently when I’m too tired to do anything else, watching these little shorts is a fun little diversion!
But, as someone else already mentioned, I should try to balance out with a positive. We do have a long weekend this weekend!!
Hang in there!! I’m sending virtual hugs your way! : )
I’m so glad I live in NH and don’t have to deal with the political ads and mail and phone calls anymore. In the days before our primary we probably got 10 phone calls a day, a few door-to-door visits a day, and about a dozen mailers a day. I joked I was going to vote for whoever called me the least! haha
And I must say that I AM THRILLED to have gotten into the sock club! Yay me!
The only thing bugging me is that my poor son (20 months) is sick again. 🙁
P.S. I just saw Tracy’s comment – I think we need to chat because it sounds like we have similar issues on the work front!
Other than the fact that I can’t get rid of this cough and congestion and my kids have been sick since reurning to school from Christmas break, nothing is really bothering me too much.
I hope Stephanie doesn’t buy everything while she is there. Did she bring any yarn with her to restock??? ; )
What bugs me is that i can’t knit all day every day. That’s what bugs me. I want to knit down more of my stash so that i can feel better about buying more. lol
Now is “after.” For a long time, I told myself I’d do things “after.” After the craziness of early December; after Christmas; after New Year’s; after the end of church school (I teach); after our long-weekend away. Well, now is “after,” and the to-do list has reached gargantuan proportions. So, it bugs me that now is ‘after.’
Hmm… my list would look a LOT like yours! lol!
I’d add this though… why is it my kids start fighting and whining every time I run downstairs to check on the laundry (ie computer)?! Argh.
I think I need some coffee. Maybe that would cheer you too?
oh yeah your kitty is super cute!!! looks like my layla!!
Oh boy, I bet it was hard sending out all those “no sock club for you” emails. : ( I hope you aren’t getting a bunch of grief over it. I got a “sorry not this year” email myself and while I was disappointed, I know you only have so many spots. C’est la vie!!
What’s bugging me?
1. The extreme cold we’re going to get this weekend. It’s hard on people, machines, and our livestock. It also makes doing chores extra work.
2. My pile of laundry – altho I really shouldn’t complain because it’s the result of being on vacation for 10 days!
3. That there’s not more time for knitting!!
4. That the extra 15 pounds I’m carrying is obviously not going away unless drastic measures are taken!!
Bugging me, nothing big, thank goodness.
1. 4 snow days already and only one was really snowy. I’m worried these kids will be making up time when they really need a break.
2. Two-hour school delays. What can I get done in that time? Nothing.
3. Not enough time to knit
4. That people make you feel bad about things you can’t control.
I did a lot of “this bugs me” talk at work last night [about work] so I am going to skip that part of the post. I just want to send a virtual hug to you and all of the elves for all of the work and stress that you have to be dealing with this week. I don’t know if this helps, but I think that people get upset about things because you are so good at what you do that they forget you can’t work actual miracles. (no one skein of yarn multiplying to feed the shark frenzy…no water into wine…no calorie free chocolate…etc 🙂 )
I just took a peek at the Q4 challenge and there are some amazing projects. It will definitely be hard to pick just one to vote for.
All of the above, except problems at work, would just about sum it up. I’ve had a headache basically since 12/31/07 – now on meds and testing in the future. I too got a “not this year” message but totally understand and will re-budget that money accordingly.
Sheri, people really need to get a life and grow up – you don’t get everything in life. Be thankful for what you have and work hard to get something more. Thank you and thanks to the elves for all your hard work.
Take some time and knit or spin and be good to yourself.
Nothing bugs me! (ooooohm, I ignore it)
Only 100 days, hundred days until Spring Fling :-)!
See you soon
What bugs me is that I cannot possibly knit all the things I’d like too :)! Seriously, I would like to be able to knit faster but physical forces have conspired against that. Asi es la vida, no? The funny thing is that I was thinking about my iPod playlist boredom just yesterday. How did you know?
Relax and be grateful for the many things that don’t bug you. Stay warm this weekend!
p.s. I must say that Gracie is just lovely. I mean, look at that magnificent tail!
Number one thing that bugs me???
I’m changing to a new Host for my website and the one I’ve changed to apparently ia having remote server problems ARRGH!!
Other than that not much else is bugging me this week!
Have a Latte and take a day off, the Elves can handle the workload and you need a day just for you!
I am bugged that:
1. Good phone manners are not used more often (don’t shoot the messenger)
2. I can’t knit during work (although I could, but would probably get fired)
3. My house value is dropping like a stone (I live in Ft. Lauderdale – $364,000.00 to $298,000 in the past six months)
4. I am not knitting right now or merely rolling around in my yarn stash (although I do carry a different sock yarn in my purse on a daily basis – just to feel it throughout the day, I know, a little crazy)
5. This morning I asked for my usual grande chai tea latte with hazelnut syrup, but ended up with someone elses drink (I had already left Starbucks and was halfway to work before I noticed – unexpected change can be good)
It bugs me that we’re all keeping you so busy you don’t have time for a haircut! I agree with the above posters suggesting a Sheri Day! You can knit, nap, drink lattes, pet the cat and have a fabulous haircut! And no calories consumed on a Sheri Day count! There, I’ve just waved my magic wand for you..
Enjoy the long weekend and keep warm!
It looks like we share several of the same “bugs”. I totally agree about the dust, and also dust bunnies. Why is it that no matter how often I dust under the bed, behind the furniture etc, there are always more dust bunnies? Ok maybe the dog and the alpaca roving, not to mention the actual rabbit, do account for some of it, but it’s not fair!
The sugar/vegetalbe thing touched a sore spot with me because this week, of my own free will (I guess I must have been crazy at the time) I decided to to a five day cleansing diet which prohibits all sugar, dairy, grains and red meats. Thanks goodness I’m on the last day.
My postal service is bugging me today, because yesterday they supposedly tried to deliver my latest Loopy order but I “wasn’t home” they claim. Meanwhile I stayed in just because I had a feeling it would come. Now it’s down at the postal depot and I’m stuck at home with no car. It needs me to rescue it and I’m powerless to do so!
But enought of that. Thanks for all the hard work you’ve done this week (and every week) and try to get some time to relax this weekend (maybe get a haircut?) and do some knitting.
Check out this blog:
http://stringativity.blogspot.com/2007/12/yarn-harlot-ness.html
Don’t know if he knits – but Obama held a partially knit sock.
What bugs me is the distance and schedule restraints that keep me from popping in the car and driving to St. Louis to knit away the weekend with my good friend!!!!! I am also bugged by anyone who makes you or any of the Loopy Elves feel bad about ANYTHING!!! (And how one negative comment or email can negate the hundreds of positive ones that are received… why is that?????) You do an AMAZING job and I’m so proud of you!!!!!!! Don’t let the turkeys get you down!!
Well, I got Sock Club but no Wollmeise, so I can’t complain. What bugs me is that we finally get a decent snow and along comes a 45 degree day, but it’s supposed to be unseasonally cold for the next week. It bugs me that we’re sitting here at work watching TV; if it’s that slow, why not close up and go home?
Finally, unrealistic as it might be, it bugs me that Sissy isn’t totally housebroken yet. We’ve had two “perfect” days, far apart, but I’m ready for her to get it together!
I’m having another bout of tendonitis (this time right arm) and can’t knit. That really bugs me!
I love veggies, but unfortunately I love sugar a whole lot more! A day without candy? I can’t imagine it, but I should start trying to. Yuk!
Wow, that Gracie is a beauty!
Hope you get some time for yourself this weekend, Sheri. You certainly deserve it!
Nothing can bug me today! I leave for vacation in 17 hours!!
Well. Maybe the car dealership where we bought my daughter’s new car. The games they played, so that in the end they give me what i wanted in the first place BUT after 4 hours of yapping at me about quality and value, and implying that the presence of a Coach bag at my side meant I would pay more than the value of the car just to get it for her. I pointed out that I got the bag on clearance and then went through everything I had on, item by item, price by price and said “Are you getting the point? I don’t pay retail for anything!” I won. I got the $6000 car for the $3000 I was willing to pay.
What bugs me is the Bob’s discount furniture commercials, his voice goes right threw you like fingernails on a blackboard, AAAGGGHHH!!!!. As for the sock club, my feeling is that it’s Gods way of saying you have already too much sock yarn, share, it’s someone else’s turn, so. There’s always next year.
Gracie is beautiful!
Have a great weekend.
If I bribed you with a pre-loaded i-Pod, would you let me in the sock club?
What bugs me? Kind of the same theme. That I don’t have more time to knit and that the house doesn’t clean itself. Also, bugged because lunch is only an hour and that’s not time to knit much.
Sorry, you’re being bugged. I know, we are all too busy to be bugged and need more hours. For your ipod, download audiobooks. They are great and you have HOURS of listening. I love mine. Just remember most people will understand about the Woolmeise and sock club – I know I do.
I did not get into the sock club, but it does NOT bug me. Why? That means that I have to make my own sock club. Once a month, (no I can not do it just 5 times a year), I will try out a brand new yarn, design myself a pattern and even throw in a doo dad from time to time.
My first club installment has just been ordered, Rio de la Plata. For this is say Thank you Sheri! Thank you for doing the leg work to bring us all this wonderful yarn and fiber. We would be lost without you!
Terri
The best way I’ve found to keep getting new content on my Zune (and for iPods too) are podcasts! You can find them & subscribe free through itunes, let itunes download new episodes for you and then load them to your player each time you sync it to your computer.
There are podcasts for everything – knitting, cooking, sci-fi, music, comedy, news, and tons of other subjects. Most are audio only, but there are some video ones too if your player can do videos.
I don’t need 36 hours in a day. I just need to not need sleep.
No internet at home for those sneak ups.
I agree with those political ads!! We had TONS of them here in Iowa. Finally we’re back to normal.
I’d love to have more knitting time. Then I could use up yarn from my stash and buy more:-)
Here’s what bugs me:
1: Only working on weekends which is the only days my husband is home form work
2: My cat trying to eat my Wollmeise!
3: Not knowing where my husband will be stationed (arg!)
4: Having to goto work tonight
5: Writing out thank you cards (not that I’m not thankful, but hand writing a ton is tiring)
Goodnews: My husband get to come home tonight!!!
My bugs today:
1. Kids had a two hour delay for school because of ice. It is now 40 degrees and sunshine. How did that happen?
2. Going on “vacation” next week, which is actually taking my daughter to NY for surgery. I don’t think vacation is quite the right word for it.
3. Trying to make the new website I build behave the way I want it too, not the way IT wants to! We seem to be at slight cross-purposes for lining words up nicely and processing at an appropriate speed. And I am losing.
I give my kids broccoli and ice cream. And they like both. Go figure!
Hi Sheri! I forgive you for not drawing my name for the sock club, maybe next year the good luck vibe will be on my side! As to what bugs me? Getting a copy of Interweave Knits from the library and realizing that some ignoramus has ripped out an entire pattern! The Swallowtail Shawl to be more specific. At least it wasn’t the pattern I was looking for (thank goodness) but still.
