See this building? This is the site of the new “Loopy Room”, as of next week! (Um, no – not the whole building – although wouldn’t that be fun? We have one office space on the first floor.) I did mention that we had outgrown The Loopy Room here at home, right? We have been looking for a new space for awhile, and signed a lease a couple of weeks ago. Since then, they have been busily tearing down walls, painting, and adding new carpeting for us. Next week is Moving Week, so we’ll be packing up shelves and yarn, lock, stock and barrel, and moving it right over there. It’s a great space and just 5 blocks from our house, which is going to be wonderful. (Yes, I’ll be walking to work. Except when it’s hot. We all know how I feel about that.) We will keep you posted on new “Stop and Shop” hours for those of you in St. Louis. We’re hoping to have that a couple of times a week (and of course still by appointment.) While it’s always fun to have in-person visitors, our main focus will remain on keeping up with all of YOU, our wonderful online customers from all over. We want to continue to provide the service that you have come to expect from The Loopy Ewe and we feel we can do that best by continuing to make our online shop our priority. We take the responsibility of being your “Virtual LYS” very seriously!
Here’s the sign in the front of the building. I originally told them we didn’t need to put The Loopy Ewe up there, as there won’t be that many people trying to find us. But now I’m kinda thinking that it’d be funny to have our name up there with all of those real estate/title company/insurance names. Might lighten up the building a bit, you know? 🙂 What do you think?
So – for us this means more space, more help, and our house becomes a home again. What does it mean for you? More space (to bring in even more yarn lines, which we definitely have in the works), more help (which means that we can keep getting orders to you quickly – even your Sneak Up orders, fingers crossed.) and maybe I’ll have more knitting time in the evenings so that I can share more things on the blog. We’re excited about all of the pluses this will bring to us, and to you as well.
It does mean that we will need to take a pause in our order-processing so that we can get moved and set up for you again. We will leave the website open so that you can place your orders next week, but shipping will stop between Saturday the 13th and Saturday the 20th. All accumulated orders will begin shipping out on Monday, the 22nd. I’ll keep you posted on things via the blog during the week. Maybe it will go faster than we think. What I really need is for WH to take the whole week off from his work to help get us all set up ….. but that’s not going to happen. I do foresee many late nights next week, however. Wish us luck! (And get ready for all of our re-stocks and new lines to come pouring in.)
Sheri bummedaboutthe”nopets”clauseinthelease-Zoecan’tcometoworkwithme 🙁
Fantastic! Sorry about Zoe, however, I can understand the landlord’s position. Comes under the heading “we live in a litigious society.” If Mickey D’s can be sued by someone dumb enough to hold a cup of hot coffee between her thighs in the drive-through line, anyone can be sued for any perceived injury/allergy/whatever. We’ll all just have to find toys and goodies to send Zoe to keep her occupied during your absences. Oh, and Loopy absolutely must be on that sign. Now, if they’d just give you a sign like my spinning shop just got from her landlord…

That’s awesome, Sherri! Congrats on the new space.
Congratulations! How exciting to be making such a move. I hope all goes smoothly for you.
How exciting! Hopefully, everything will go smooth and quick! and yes, put Loopy on the sign. Please!
Congratulations! I hope the move goes well and the new Loopy Room is just wonderful!
Congrats! Last time I was at the Loopy Room, I was wondering where else you were going to put everything! Things have grown so much from just that little corner in the basement that you started in. The girls and I will have to plan a field trip when you get up and running. Loopy should definitely be on the sign. Brighten things up a bit.
That is so awesome. I so wish I could come help you move. I think it would be lots of hard work but TONS of fun to help move all that yarn. I also say go for the sign.
Congratulations!!!
Congratulations on the new space! I’m bummed about the no pets lease! Don’t these people know how important pets are to people’s psyches?! I bet they were surprised that someone who sells yarn online needed to expand!
We all want a Loopy sign with Loopy on it, it seems! While we think that a job around all that lovely yarn is fun, (and we know the yarn part is), there is so much other work that goes into what you’ve created. What a great expansion!! You have really been able to show that with the best service an online shop can ROCK! Best of luck, and leave some time for yourself and family, and I say smuggle Zoe in in your sock bag!
Congrats!! That is very exciting news!!!
Congratulations, Sheri! I’m sure you have yarn in every nook and cranny these days – do you even remember what it was like to have your home to yourself? It’ll be exciting on all fronts. 🙂
Hmm…the pet thing….I’m all for a Zoe-smuggling.
Congratulations! I am so happy for you and your family!
Awesome! Please do put Loopy up there on the sign. That way, when you do have the room open for visitation, we can find it!
What does the postal person think about this move? Will you be on a better route or do they just need to send an extra Loopy truck 😉 ?
How exciting for you. And it will be nice to have work away from home…. I would think it would anyway.
Your mailman will probably enjoy it too. ; )
Woohoo!! New space!! Congrats on on the new Loopy office! This is a good sign of things to come:-)
Too bad about Zoe. I love my cats but they would not be welcome in a yarn store. Mr. Bailey likes to chew through yarn. Imagine hundreds of skeins all laying around in parts. EGADS!
That’s great! I am sure it will be good for all to have the business in it’s own location.
Just think of the joy you will bring your mail person. Although maybe he’ll miss you. 😉
Wow! Congrats on the move. Loopy is gonna love his new home.
Congratulations! What an exciting time for you! I am sorry Zoe can’t visit, can’t you claim it’s necessary for the business (pest control)?
Heartiests Congrats, Sheri.
Your Dad and I are so very proud of you.
We’ll start muscle strengthening exercises today to be ready for the move.
YES, YES, YES you MUST put Loopy Ewe on the sign!!! Congratuations…the new space looks wonderful!
Nice work!! Congrats on the new shop! Yay!
Congratulations. Go with the sign.
YAY!!!
Yeah You! I am so excited for you all! Wow! It only took one year too. More space=more yarn! Can’t go wrong there!
And put Loopy on that sign! That will turn heads! And freak out muggles when you have to explain that you had to get a bigger space because of knitters!
How exciting, except for Zoe. And do put your awesome logo up on the roadfront sign; life’s too short to miss a chance to help the world lighten up!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some shopping to do before the shipping freeze!
Congratulations of your expansion–from experience, I know it is difficult to have a business in your home. Only problem is that you can no longer go to work in your jammies!!!!!!!
How exciting! Congrats on the new space!
Congrats on the new space!! How exciting! And my bro just moved to St. Louis, so I’ll have to visit him some time next year- I’ll definitely have to stop by!
Congratulations Sheri! That is sooooo exciting for you! and to be able to walk to work……oh I envy you! Wow, so cool!
Hi Sheri…Congratulations on the new Loopy Room. I definitely think you should put your name and logo up on the sign. You’ve worked too hard to deny putting it up. It will get people wondering what “The Loopy Ewe” is all about and eventually they too will be Loopy online customers. If you ever have a need to open an Ohio branch of the Loopy Ewe, let me know 🙂 I’m glad you had a wonderful time with your friends in Colorado. Twice a year is so much better than 1 time or 18 months in between. I see there’s another Kristi joining the Loopy Ewe 🙂 ….I’ll be Kristi ~ Ohio. Congrats again. Kristi
The new space look marvelous! Congrats 🙂 And you should definitely have them put The Loopy Ewe on the sign — we knitters must Represent, you know! Good luck with the moving — can’t wait to hear how the new digs feel once everything’s in.
Congratulations on the new space! That is so exciting. I think you should put The Loopy Ewe on the sign, perhaps with a picture of Loopy and everything. 🙂
Your expansion is so exciting – super big congratulations!
NEW DIGS! NEW DIGS! **happy dancing around cube at work**
**throwing paper clips at curious co-workers peering over the wall wondering at the commotion in proofreading**
There is nothing like new space! Congratulations, and best of luck getting it all in order! And I, too, feel that Loopy should have his rightful place on that sign out front! In all his glory!
As for Zoe, you will notice that she will be VERY happy to see you when you get home! Although I do appreciate wanting to have her at work with you (I keep telling Paddy that he would love it here, but my bosses will not allow it as I can not convince them he’s a service cat), you will certainly appreciate the heavy purring that will ensue when you come in the door. (Or the scolding or whatever Game Zoe decides to come up with in response to being left at home.) Darn those lease clauses!
Congratulations! My husband and I have an insurance agency, and when we first started we worked out of the house (for 6 weeks, while the office space was being readied). The best thing that ever happene was our move to an office outside the house. It made home time really be home time and work time was at the office. It may have been very brief, but that time while we worked from home was much more stressful, because I never really was home or at work. And I do think you should put the name on the sign…you’re there, so flaunt it! Good luck with the move. We moved out office 18 motnhs ago and it was one of the best things we ever did. It helped us reinvigorate and reorganize, which we would have never done if we stayed in the “same old place”.
Congrats on the new location — it’s always good to separate home and work, I think. A sign would be good, but I can only speak as one who hopes to visit one day from out of town. A sign would lighten things up!
I can wait until you relocate before placing another order — my credit card needs a breather and I’m having “storage” issues anyway. ;o) Wish I could help you move…er…make that feel and sniff the yarn as I helped re-shelve it…tee hee.
What wonderful news! I had a feeling something like this might be in the works.
All the best to you, Sheri. Congratulations!
Oh, and another vote here for Loopy on the sign. That sign NEEDS Loopy!
I am so happy the business has grown so well–don’t “grow it” so much it becomes a big pain. Hey, I’ll bet one of the most excited people about your move is your local letter carrier. I certainly think the name would look cute, but you might end up with too much drop in traffic–people peering in the window when you didn’t have shop hours. And if they couldn’t get in after they got a look at all the yummy yarn, heaven only knows what could happen.
Good luck in the new location!
Here’s wishing you a smooth move to your new space!
Congratulations on the new space — that’s exciting news! Please, please, PLEASE put Loopy on the sign — and make sure you get pics of the many admirers the new sign attracts!
Great news, Sheri. I’m sure Loopy is excited about getting his own space and I bet he would be proud to see his name on that sign! Good luck with the move and I hope you get lots of help. Lots of us would be willing to help carry yarn boxes and stock shelves if only we lived closer. I love the comment from your mom, btw.
Incidentally, it is now cold and raining here and I am cuddling up in two sweaters and wool socks at last. The perfect night to get the fireplace going, I say! Hope some of the cool weather is going down your way.
Congratulations!!!!!
And I put my vote in to put Loopy Ewe on the sign!! Just think about the people that -shudder- do not have internet… and do not know about ewe… LOL
Hey, and if you ever need an East Coast site… I’m totally here for ewe… I mean you!!
Way to go Sheri! I think it’s good to have that division between work and home, otherwise it’s just too easy to think “hey, a commercial? maybe I’ll go pack an order”, right??
Zoe would be an unusual cat indeed to want to leave the house, wouldn’t she? Maybe you can get yourself a little aquarium at the new place–my fish actually swim to the “feeding corner” of the tank when I walk into the bedroom. You’ve never had a weird sleep-in on the weekend until you open your eyes and see all the fish crammed into the corner WATCHING you and waiting for food. They really do have (tiny, wet) personalities and are acceptable in office buildings. And there are weekend feeders and automatic lights…no need to tend on the weekends.
Maybe you could make a Loopy costume, put it on Zoe while she’s at the shop and explain that she’s Loopy, your mascot and she has to be there. We would know the truth, but they don’t have to.
P.S. If you want help, you should just offer a “work for yarn” program during the move for local knitters! (or their SO’s who want the credit card to take a break lol)
Congratulations to Sheri and all the Loopy employees!! Hope the move goes smoothly.
Congrats! This is so exciting! I do think you need a sign, though- the Knitters need to be Represented 🙂
WOO HOO!! Congratulations!!!
Yipee!! A new Loopy Room! I’m not so sure about adding your name to the sign. You’d have to put in a fancy schmany security system to keep some of us yarn-addicted knitters away! It would be like a trip to Mecca or Lourdes…
