Loopy’s New Home

bldglorezSee this building? This is the site of the new “Loopy Room”, as of next week! (Um, no – not the whole building – although wouldn’t that be fun? We have one office space on the first floor.) I did mention that we had outgrown The Loopy Room here at home, right? We have been looking for a new space for awhile, and signed a lease a couple of weeks ago. Since then, they have been busily tearing down walls, painting, and adding new carpeting for us. Next week is Moving Week, so we’ll be packing up shelves and yarn, lock, stock and barrel, and moving it right over there. It’s a great space and just 5 blocks from our house, which is going to be wonderful. (Yes, I’ll be walking to work. Except when it’s hot. We all know how I feel about that.) We will keep you posted on new “Stop and Shop” hours for those of you in St. Louis. We’re hoping to have that a couple of times a week (and of course still by appointment.) While it’s always fun to have in-person visitors, our main focus will remain on keeping up with all of YOU, our wonderful online customers from all over. We want to continue to provide the service that you have come to expect from The Loopy Ewe and we feel we can do that best by continuing to make our online shop our priority. We take the responsibility of being your “Virtual LYS” very seriously!

bldgsignHere’s the sign in the front of the building. I originally told them we didn’t need to put The Loopy Ewe up there, as there won’t be that many people trying to find us. But now I’m kinda thinking that it’d be funny to have our name up there with all of those real estate/title company/insurance names. Might lighten up the building a bit, you know? 🙂 What do you think?

So – for us this means more space, more help, and our house becomes a home again. What does it mean for you? More space (to bring in even more yarn lines, which we definitely have in the works), more help (which means that we can keep getting orders to you quickly – even your Sneak Up orders, fingers crossed.) and maybe I’ll have more knitting time in the evenings so that I can share more things on the blog. We’re excited about all of the pluses this will bring to us, and to you as well.

It does mean that we will need to take a pause in our order-processing so that we can get moved and set up for you again. We will leave the website open so that you can place your orders next week, but shipping will stop between Saturday the 13th and Saturday the 20th. All accumulated orders will begin shipping out on Monday, the 22nd. I’ll keep you posted on things via the blog during the week. Maybe it will go faster than we think. What I really need is for WH to take the whole week off from his work to help get us all set up ….. but that’s not going to happen. I do foresee many late nights next week, however. Wish us luck! (And get ready for all of our re-stocks and new lines to come pouring in.)

  1. [SCREAM!!!] I’m so happy for you, congrats on the new place. I’m so giddy, this means more stuff, (even though I’m saving it still makes me giddy). The sign….hmmm….I’d put it up there (but I’m mischievous) just to give me a laugh in the morning.

Hey, good thing I made my order early.

  2. Yeah!! Fun to see the New home of Loopy!! I definitely vote for a sign. I know someone who does signs! 🙂 Still waiting to hear if I can do a ‘sneak down’ next week. Wouldn’t that be fun!!

  3. Great for you! It’s always nice to have your business in your home, but then, you never really leave it…..so now there may be a little more separation for you, in a good way! Of course we’ll love to see more pics of your knitting – they’re always so pretty! Congrats on a job well done! You’re moving on up (as if you haven’t been at the top all along)!

  4. Congratulationson the new home for Loopy. Hope that everything goes well during the move. Of course with Loopy along it has to go well!! Best wishes next week as moving is a bit of a stress but just think how great it will be when all the wonderful yarn is in place in the new space. And yes I also think the sign would be great. I agree you have wonderful customer service and I really appreciate your online shop.

  5. Congratulations on your new digs. I’ll have to admit that the best thing about moving is when it’s all over. Be careful lifting those boxes – don’t strain your back!

  6. Congratulations! Now you can have a home and a business. LOL

I think the space looks great but the no pets rule is bad, bad, bad. I could never rent a place to work without taking my magical goat with me. But other than that it is a great big wonderful step for you. Can you take Loopy with you?

Look forward to pics of all the wonderful yarn in their new home.

  7. WOW! Congratulations on moving to a bigger space. I can’t wait to hear about all the goodies that will be stocked up in the new building. 🙂

  8. congratulations on loopyewe’s new home! and also for getting back your own home!and i think you should list your name on the sign/directory….would brighten things up a bit!

  9. Great news Sheri, and a huge congratulations. Hard work does pay off. Sign up would be glorious. You must be thrilled and so close to home. Zoe will want all of your attention when you get home. Best of luck. Hugs

  10. Sheri,
Congratulations!! A new home for Loopy!
And I agree with everyone else…a sign is a must—you have such a cute logo!

  11. Good luck! It’s going to be so much fun re-shelving all that yarn. Imagine! And you should absolutely be on the sign. The muggles won’t know what to make of it.

  12. Congrats!! on the new space. Zoe will really miss you. My kitties go crazy when I am in the shop all day. You would think I had left them for weeks!! Moving is exausting so hope it goes very smoothly.

  13. I think you should get a sign! Not only would it be funny to see Loppy there, it would be good for business! You never know when a knitting will happen by and see it ect. Also when people do stop in to shop, they can find it with help from the sign.

Congrats on the space! I am sure it will be great to have your house back.

  14. Congratulations on Loopy’s new home! That is awesome! And, congratulations to you on getting your own home back to yourselves! That is really cool that you are so close to Loopy’s new home! Best wishes on your move.

I think most have missed the point on the sign. Loopy vacationed all over the world this summer, and he had his picture taken all over, with Loopy friends. It would be a total travesty not to have a likeness of Loopy and the business’s name on the sign! Therefore, Loopy must appear on the sign!!!

  15. Congratulations on the new space!! Very exciting! A new bigger space will probably mean more yarn for me – I might have to move into a bigger place as well to accomodate 🙂

  16. What wonderful news, Sheri! Wishing you the best in your new digs…there comes a point in business where you either have to grow, move up and out or stagnate and lag behind the field. You’re wise to see that…and take on the burden of extra overhead. It’ll pay off in the long run.

Sorry about the no-pet rule. Have you asked for an exception, since you would be bringing Zoe with you and taking her home each day? Sometimes you can make a special arrangement and adaption of the boiler plate lease…especially a very well-behaved quiet member of your family that wouldn’t annoy anyone in the building. You might make a convincing case.

  17. Sheri!

Whoo-hoo! Congratulations! I’m glad you get your house back, and maybe even a little of your life back, too! This is great!!!

Glad to have you back and blogging again.

  18. Way cool for you Sheri that TLE has officially outgrown its original home. I’m excited for you. I think you should be TLE out on the front sign. You are a legit business but more than that it will be something fun to freak out passersby (maybe). hehe

  19. Congrats on your move. I love your blog, so don’t ever quit it. Also love your yarn. I think you should put your name on the sign in big letters.

  20. Congrats, Sheri! Being a relative newcomer to TLE, it never occurred to me that you were operating out of your home!! I’m sure you’ll relish having the space back for yourself & your family, once you get through the move! And you should *definitely* have TLE name & Loopy on the sign! (By the way, what’s the deal on the spring retreat you’ve mentioned a few times – what does it entail, & any ideas when it might be?)

  21. CONGRATS on the new space! And count me in as voting to have TLE on the sign out front. That thing needs jazzing up!!!!

Keep us posted on the hours – I’ll be back before Christmas for a week and will be itching to spend some $$$ and to see the new digs.

Good luck with the move – I wish I were there to help.

  22. hi sheri. how exciting to have more space for your business. hope it is big enough for growing too! i know that is happening in leaps and bounds. i truly hope having your home be just that, gives you more time to enjoy your knitting. oh, yes, put your loopy ewe name up with the rest of those businesses. give the place some class!! and i know, lots of fun too. congratulations. hugs, dynna

  23. oh my gosh, that is wonderful!!! congrats. i’m sure it will be nice to have your house back. i have yarn pirate stuff strung all over the house :P!

  24. Congrats on the new space! And I’m sorry about Zoe not being able to work with you. But she’ll love her time with you at home even more. Good luck with the move and don’t kill yourselves getting it done. Remember to breathe and take breaks!

  25. 1. Put your name on the sign – it’s your place too, now, and it will liven it up a bit! Especially if there’s a big cute sheep with red socks on it.

    2. I don’t think any of us will tell on you if you put Zoe in one of those pet carriers that look like purses and take her to work with you. We can keep secrets. ;o)

  26. Congrats Sheri!!! That boring old sign really needs a Loopy for some excitement. Bummer about not being able to officially take Zoe to work…but what if she just happened to be hiding in your conveniently oversized handbag…

  27. Congratulations! Good luck in the move, and try not to work too many late nights.

I can’t wait to see what the changes will be. I may even have to make the drive from Overland Park to the St. Louis area now…

Good luck, be well, and try to sneak in a little time to knit.

  28. Congratulations!! It’s always wonderful to see a small business succeed!! And you definitely should have your name on the sign. Be proud! Be out there! Be amused when people drive by and say to themselves “Loopy Ewe?????”.

  29. Wow, congratulations!! 🙂

(I’m glad I snuck in my order before the pause in shipping–I saw that you sent it this morning, hurray! 🙂 Thank you! It’s for Christmas presents so I have to get knitting!)
