Loopy’s New Home

bldglorezSee this building? This is the site of the new “Loopy Room”, as of next week! (Um, no – not the whole building – although wouldn’t that be fun? We have one office space on the first floor.) I did mention that we had outgrown The Loopy Room here at home, right? We have been looking for a new space for awhile, and signed a lease a couple of weeks ago. Since then, they have been busily tearing down walls, painting, and adding new carpeting for us. Next week is Moving Week, so we’ll be packing up shelves and yarn, lock, stock and barrel, and moving it right over there. It’s a great space and just 5 blocks from our house, which is going to be wonderful. (Yes, I’ll be walking to work. Except when it’s hot. We all know how I feel about that.) We will keep you posted on new “Stop and Shop” hours for those of you in St. Louis. We’re hoping to have that a couple of times a week (and of course still by appointment.) While it’s always fun to have in-person visitors, our main focus will remain on keeping up with all of YOU, our wonderful online customers from all over. We want to continue to provide the service that you have come to expect from The Loopy Ewe and we feel we can do that best by continuing to make our online shop our priority. We take the responsibility of being your “Virtual LYS” very seriously!

bldgsignHere’s the sign in the front of the building. I originally told them we didn’t need to put The Loopy Ewe up there, as there won’t be that many people trying to find us. But now I’m kinda thinking that it’d be funny to have our name up there with all of those real estate/title company/insurance names. Might lighten up the building a bit, you know? 🙂 What do you think?

So – for us this means more space, more help, and our house becomes a home again. What does it mean for you? More space (to bring in even more yarn lines, which we definitely have in the works), more help (which means that we can keep getting orders to you quickly – even your Sneak Up orders, fingers crossed.) and maybe I’ll have more knitting time in the evenings so that I can share more things on the blog. We’re excited about all of the pluses this will bring to us, and to you as well.

It does mean that we will need to take a pause in our order-processing so that we can get moved and set up for you again. We will leave the website open so that you can place your orders next week, but shipping will stop between Saturday the 13th and Saturday the 20th. All accumulated orders will begin shipping out on Monday, the 22nd. I’ll keep you posted on things via the blog during the week. Maybe it will go faster than we think. What I really need is for WH to take the whole week off from his work to help get us all set up ….. but that’s not going to happen. I do foresee many late nights next week, however. Wish us luck! (And get ready for all of our re-stocks and new lines to come pouring in.)

  1. Oh congratulations on the new digs! I’m very glad to hear that it’s not far from home; I didn’t want you have have to drive an inch on 270 to get anywhere!

Hmm, maybe you need a bike?

Have fun during the move, and enjoy having the Loopy Room (House edition) back to yourselves.

  2. Oh PLEASE put Loopy up next to those names! Better yet, slap him up jumping over the entire sign, THAT would be a sight.

Congratulations on the new Loopy Room!

  3. Hey, hey! Up and coming, huh? Good for you, and us. I think you should absolutely put your name and Loopy on the sign. Delighted you had a good time in CO, however it is hard not to have a good time there. Just standing and looking is wonderful.

  4. How exciting to have more room to work in – and so close to home too!! I just wish I was close enough to visit sometime! Too bad about Zoe not coming to work with you though. I also think you should put your name & Loopy on the sign – give the stuffed shirts something to smile about 🙂

    Good Luck with the move!

  5. Congratulations!! How very exciting for you guys! That stinks about the no pets clause, though…nothing’s more cozy than a wool shop with a kitty. 🙂

I’m so very happy for you, Sheri! I imagine this will make it easier to draw the line between work time and not work time, too. 😉 Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us!!

  6. That boring sign needs some cheering up with The Loopy Ewe added to it! How exciting to have more space- even though moving is no fun at all!
Is anyone going to notice if Zoe comes to work? Maybe you coluld dress her up so no one knows she’s a kitty 😉

  7. My LYS has a life-sized sheep from that mattress company out front of the shop – maybe you could just stick one of those on top of the sign. ;-P

Congrats on the new space! It’s nice to be able to reclaim your home, I’m sure!! (And you can sneak Zoe in, right??)

  8. Wow! Congratulations! It’s amazing how much the Loopy Ewe has grown in just over a year. 🙂

I hope the move goes smoothly for you!

  9. Congratulations on the new Loopy Room (and on getting back some of the space in your home)! You’re getting up into the big leagues now! I think that boring building sign would be much improved by having a picture of Loopy on it!

Too bad about the no pets clause—but honestly, is anyone going to check?

  10. I am incredibly pleased for you. With all your sales, I figured that looking for more space was going on in the background–and it is really good to separate work from home (I should know; I worked from home for over a decade). I know it will add a lot of overhead, but it’s time for the business to move up in the world! And HOORAY for that!

I am glad you had a nice trip, too. I am enjoying various friends’ photos of Colorado this fall and trying not to pout that I don’t have vacations. But, I get to go to scenic Arlington, Texas for a high school band competition this week, so it will be like a mini retreat. My friend and I are bringing all our knitting and crocheting, assuming we will finish all our UFOs. Nice to be around optimists. Hmm, when did this comment turn into all about me??

Good luck with the move! Wish I could come up and help. I love to arrange yarn.

  11. Ohmygoshthatissooocool!!! I think I’m just going to have to drive through St. Louis on my way home from seeing the family at Christmas! You definitely need a sign – something we could have our picture taken with. That’s a bummer about Zoe – they just don’t understand about cats and yarn shops….. you’ll just have to make them knitters!

  12. Congratulations! That’s very exciting. I hope the move goes well. You definitely should put Loopy up on the sign. What a conversation starter for folks driving by the sign!

  13. CONGRATULATIONS!!! You really should put up a sign. Your business is just as good/real/important as all those other things. They probably don’t have a lot of people trying to find them either. Once you’re all done moving you should post pictures of the inside. I don’t know when I’ll be able to visit, but I like to imagine stopping by.

I’m so excited that you are growing this much, especially if it means more yarn for us!

  14. Congratulations on going brick and mortar!!! Definitely put your name on that sign! You never know who’s looking for a LYS!! I hate to even think of this, but many folks don’t know about the world of blogging *shudder* Congratulations Sheri!!!

  15. Congratulations! Isn’t it too bad that I am coincidentally busy next week so I can’t help you move? Rats! 😉

Definitely put Loopy on the sign.

  16. Yay on a new Loopy Room! (And YAY for more space for more yarn!) It does stink about the no pets clause… I wish I could bring my babies to work too. Is Loopy himself moving to the new location?

  17. Yup…that’s it…that’s the building I waved at on the way home from the Loopy Basement yesterday! I was sure that spot on the sign was reserved especially for Loopy! You MUST most definitely put him on the sign. It will be great for you to have so much more room in your shop…as well as more room again in your house. For those in other parts of the world…they have no idea how it looks with boxes piled on your porch, in your entry hall, in your basement, etc.etc.etc. I’ll bet WH will be glad to have his photo space back too!

I agree with Emily…I think you should get a bike. I can see you now…warm woolie socks on your feet with your bright red sheepy Birkenstocks, riding your bike with your chevron scarf blowing in the breeze behind you. You could get snow tires for the winter….hmmmmm?

  18. Congrats on your new space!! How very exciting for you! I totally vote for putting Loopy on the sign – it will definitely make it more fun!! : )

Um, I think I need to move to St. Louis – I would love to be able to Stop and Shop. And, of course, help out in any way I could. I definitely need to make a visit… And, I’d totally help with TLE move. : )

  19. The Loopy sign will have to be nice a bright with a Loopy sheep on it- to make the other signs jealous!
I just figured out a way to come and see all the Loopiness. Bribe my husband with a trip to a Rams game! Yarn for football…it could happen.

  20. Mazel Tov on your new space 🙂

I’m with everyone else – the sign MUST go up!!! along with a few sheep in the front too – that will really freak the muggles out 😉

  21. Congratulations on your new Loopy Home away from home! I hope I’ll get to see it sometime when I’m in STL. I also agree that you need to have a sign.

  22. Congratulations on your new space for TLE!! Much needed I am sure. But what I think is better, you’ll get a chance to get away from it all and relax, and best of all knit…I mean, you are our test knitter for all the new lines..you know 😉

  23. Squee!! I don’t know why I’m so excited since the in-person hours won’t be increasing, but didn’t I say you’d need a warehouse like WEBS soon? =D Do you need more help, or do you have it covered?

And it’d be great to see a little graphic of Loopy and the name on that sign!

  24. Woo hoo! Totally not cool about Zoe, but, woo hoo!! I think the bike is a good idea…at least when it’s warm-er it’d be fast-er……. Have fun!!!

  25. Woo hoo! Excellent news! And put another vote in the sign column. Can’t you picture Loopy up there, lord of all he surveys? The proud, majestic animal on the Great Plains. I’m seriously loving it. And I’m so proud of you, too! It’s a big step, but if anyone can handle it, it’s you.

Now I just need to figure out how to occupy myself when you’re “closed” next week. *sob* (It’s not like I need to pay the doctor, the hairdresser, passport renewal fee, the electric bill, the gas bill, buy groceries…but somehow there’s always a spare $20 for a skein of something luscious. Why is that?)

  26. Congrats on the new space. I’ll look forward to visiting when I’m in the area. Maybe Zoe will forgive you if you bring home lots of yarn for her to love. I so want to follow in your footsteps. I have no LYS. Maybe that’s why I love Loopy so much.

  27. Congrats on the new space……It will be nice for you to have your home back…..Is there a Starbucks on the walk to the new office……………..

Enjoy….and as always….greatest customer service on earth…and YES put your name on the sign!

    Blogless Diane

  28. Cool!! Yes, you need Loopy on the sign- liven it up a bit. Sheep and wool are part of the ‘American Heritage’ right?

Poor Zoe- going to be a lonely kitty!

  29. Now that is seriously exciting news! Congratulations on the new space, the soon-to-be-reclaimed space and on the success this shows you are having. I’m bummed for you on the no pets thing. Maybe you could claim she was an assistance animal?

You absolutely have to put your name (and Loopy himself) up on the sign. No question there. How else will I find it when I make the pilgrimage to St. Louis sometime in the next year? I’m gonna have to make one. I can tell.

  30. Wow! Congrats on the new digs. It’s a wonder that you have any time to knit at all with all the stuff going on! Have a great day and a stress free move!

  31. Wonderful news Sheri! Congratulations on getting a new Loopy room – I know you will enjoy having the space back in your home, and as one who works from home, I can only imagine how nice it will be to take a little breather from work every evening…not easy to do when you are surrounded by work 24/7 – I know! Looking forward to seeing pictures of Loopy’s new home when you get all settled in, and definitely get Loopy on that sign! Can’t wait to see what new yummy things are coming in the future! Wish I was closer – I would come help you move!
