Wednesday

Hi there! First of all, a big big thank you to all of you who are so wonderful and kind and encouraging, even when you miss Wollmeise again! So many of you wrote order notes that just brightened our day! (Ok – brightened our night. We were working on orders late into the night!) We really appreciate your business and your kindness. Please know that we’re getting these out as fast as possible, but it does take an extra day or two during Sneak Ups. πŸ™‚

I did feel the need to address something in the blog. While 98% of you have been wonderful, 2% of you are not happy. I know it’s disappointing to be watching the website for something, and then miss it. If I had my way, we’d just announce the time and day we were adding new products, and you wouldn’t have to pay such close attention to things here! But remember, we don’t do that because so many hop on and shop at once, that it has killed the website. We have tested the web capacity by having daytime Sneak Ups these last couple of times, and for the most part it works ok. (A couple of glitches yesterday when people checked out simultaneously with the last skeins of something, but we’re figuring out ways around it for the future.) But it doesn’t work ok enough to pre-announce again. This is just the way we have to work it. It’s not a “marketing ploy” or something meant to create stress – it’s the most efficient and effective way for us to update the website on a regular basis, for you.

We also order a lot. I have tried to generically reassure you of that in past blog posts, but I still had someone wonder this morning why I don’t order more yarn: “Why don’t you just order enough so you can stock it? Or is making an artificially high demand more profitable for you?” Now that just makes me a bit cranky. (Or maybe it makes me a lot cranky.) We have not, nor will we ever, artificially do anything here for profitability. I don’t believe in it, and it doesn’t work, anyway, even if your values allowed you to do something like that. We order the maximum amount that our indie dyers can produce, and we get orders from them as often as they can dye them up for us. Period. Remember, these are wonderfully talented individuals doing all of this on their own. There is only so much that they can produce. We had 330 skeins of Wollmeise yesterday, gone in 2 hours. (I can see when the last skein was sold.) We had 340 patterns from Wendy. She is sending me 450 more on Friday, just because she has printed her heart out all week long and was able to get a bit more done! (She doesn’t want to do it by pdf. You can check her blog last week for her reasoning, which I happen to agree with.) We also get 350-500 skeins of Dream In Color per order, every single month, and I know those sell out usually in a day. We have regular standing orders with all of our dyers and most all of our “main” yarn companies, just to insure that we keep getting great yarn in here for you, all the time. By having a good number of indie dyers, it insures that new batches from at least a few of them will be in every week or two, even if the one you were waiting on, sold out quickly. We will continue to do our very very best to serve you well and keep you supplied. This business is extremely important to us, and we take it very seriously. Now that I have attached numbers to some of these things, maybe it will help more of you to understand that it’s not a matter of not ordering enough. We order the maximums. The demand is high for many of these yarns/patterns, and we will continue to get stock in to fill it – as often as possible, and as much as possible.

There. Cranky rant is over. Back to packing up your orders and sending them on their way with hugs and many thanks to each one of you. 98% of you are just the best! πŸ™‚

  1. Hi Sheri,
    I have only placed one order from you so far, but I was *so* incredibly pleased with your excellent customer service! I also love reading your blog — your cheery, upbeat attitude brightens my day. I am so sorry to hear that a few people were so (unreasonably) upset by missing out on their desired yarn…as others have said before me, it is sock yarn and not some life or death situation. Please don’t be discouraged — we love The Loopy Ewe! {{{hugs}}}

  2. Hang in there Sheri! You and the entire Loopy team do an above and beyond fabulous job! Its obvious to me how much you care about making your customers happy and it saddens me greatly to see 2% of the people spoiling it for you. You are just the sweetest person and I love doing business with you. If I miss something in a sneak up, could I go out and get it from another vendor? Sure I could. But, I’d rather wait and buy it from TLE. That’s what top notch customer service gets you.

I wish people in today’s world would practice more patience and really think about how fortunate they are and how much they already have. It can’t always be about instant gratification. When its meant to be, it will be.

I will always be a loyal loopie fan and wish you continued success for as long as you wish to keep TLE going! And, if I lived in your area, I would so come over and help pack boxes. Or make a PSL run – whatever would be of most assistance. : )

  3. Sheri, thanks for being so great! I was shocked when I got up this morning and saw the email that my order from yesterday was ready for shipping and noticed it was sent 2:29AM (ET)!!! You really must of had a long night!

I am so hesitant to order from most places online, but find myself looking for excuses to order from TLE! I am just not sure how much longer my bank account can hold out….Thanks for the great products, superior service and tons of fun!

  4. Sheri, I think you are awesome! Your selection is amazing and your service is the best! I love the sneak-ups… it’s fun to see that whole crop of goodies pop up at once! Sometimes I miss something and sometimes I just have to pass and wait for the next opportunity… but that’s okay because I’m a yarn collector. It would be no fun to have them all at once (well it would… but then what would I have to look forward too?)

Anyway, if 98% of your customers are happy, you are clearly doing an outstanding job! At least 2% of the population can’t be pleased anyway! And you know what… I always figured that the Sneak-Ups were a bit of a marketing ploy… and I thought you were brilliant for doing it this way. There’s nothing wrong with wisely marketing your products by creating enthusiasm and suspense for your customers!

So don’t apologize and don’t let those 2% get to you. They are the same people who are complaining to the person behind the cash register everywhere they go.

So Rock on sistah… and have a great day!

  5. Oh, Sheri! I’m so sorry people are being cranky with you!

I think you’re doing a wonderful job of trying to balance it all. Plus, I think the sneak up idea is just lovely and adds an element of excitement to my yarn shopping.

If I don’t get something….well….I have a great deal of TLE yarns stocked. I’m sure I can wait for it to come back in. :0)

I really hope your day gets better.

  6. Sheri, I think y’all are doing a terrific job! I thank you, Web Guy, WH, KD, and all of your wonderful helpers for all that they do to make shopping at TLE a great experience! For instance, Web Guy worked hard on the web site this summer, to make things work smoother for shopping there, including putting a warning to people that a particular yarn is very popular & in short supply at a given point in time. So, if yarn happens to hop out of people’s carts, they were warned…

Those of us who have been shopping at TLE have learned over time that if particular yarns or patterns, etc that we really want are expected to be in a sneak up and are wildly popular, then you just have to go for those first and check out immediately, not shop to see what else is there. Then, if you want to do more shopping, you do that afterwards. For instance, my primary objectives yesterday were not Wollmeise, but rather Cider Moon and Wendy’s patterns. So, I went in, picked up what I wanted out of what was still available of those, and immediately checked out. I did go back and bought some ZenString afterwards. For those who miss the update, whether by an hour for a popular yarn, or more, for something also popular, there is always next time. Most of your indie dyers have been repeating at least their popular colors, so people will get a chance, in time. Patience, everyone!

Many thanks, again, Sheri & Crew! Don’t worry about the cranky ones. You all are doing a terrific job! Have a good day! (BTW, I gave in & asked my husband to turn on the furnace this morning. The high temp here for the week is only 73, tomorrow; we won’t even get out of the 60’s the rest of the week, either before or after. When I get cold, I get achy, so I buckled; I guess that makes me somewhat of a sissy.

  7. Sheri, I just wanted to say “Thank you!” I have come to love the Loopy Ewe and the Sneak Ups. I have loved every one of my orders and was pleased to snag Wendy’s patterns & some Shibui Knits yesterday! You and your crew make me want to order all the time – as you can see by how often I’ve ordered lately!! Anyway, I’m sure everyone will find the yarn they’re looking for in one of your future Sneak Ups. I must go on a yarn diet soon… My “collection” has to get a little smaller before it gets any bigger ;o) Keep up the great work – we love you & the Loopy Ewe!!!!!

  8. Hang in there Sheri and don’t let the whiners get to you…YOU AND YOUR CREW ARE THE BEST!! Ya know, I missed the Wollmeise yesterday too, but I know there will be more when the next order gets here, or the next time, and that is okay! You have the best selection and best customer service out there, and I will always be a big Loopy fan! Let the whiners go into the dyeing business and see what it takes to meet the demand of all us crazy yarn collectors – Not an easy job by a long stretch! Thanks for all you do to keep my needles flying and yarn collection growing!

  9. You all are doing a fabulous job! For now Wollmeise and DIC are not meant to be in my stash. When they are they will jump into my cart and head straight to my home. πŸ™‚
Don’t let the cranky ones get too you. You can’t please everyone. If they’re that unhappy they can go somewhere else.
Great big hugs to you and everyone else in TLE family!

  10. Hey Sheri. Quite saying you are sorry! If people want to b*tch, let them shop somewhere else. You don’t need them! You guys do a great job, you have a great variety. I have had the chance to try different dyers because my “usual suspects” were sold out. I love that! I have been trying to get at least one skein of as many different dyers as possible. Yes, there are some I love more than others. But if I had stuck to the usual ones, I never woud have found new loves!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! You make it possible for little crafters like me to get my products out to more people.

  11. Sheri, I was one of the lucky ones who managed to get 2 skeins of Wollmeise yesterday! I’d missed the last couple sneak ups too so it was especially nice to get something this time around. Like someone else I also lost 1 skein out of my cart at the end- those are the breaks and maybe someone else was supposed to have that last one!
I love the sneak ups and can’t imagine a better way to do it, besides if there was a better way you’d be doing it. I don’t know what the percentage of cranky customers in the business world is but if you only have 2% I think that’s pretty awesome….remember the other 98% of us will keep coming back for more!

  12. Sheri –
Don’t let them drag you down to their level. For whatever reason they are unhappy and want to be sure you have a pissy day too. It’s possible it has very little to do with the amount of yarn and maybe it’s just a personal problem with them. That’s how I TRY to think of it. Hey, I missed Wollmeise the first sneak up – big woo. You got more (and I noticed even more colors) asap and will again. Scan through some random blogs you won’t find one without a good word to say about you and the loopy ewe. You may not know it, but kind words are being spoken about you and your shop quite often. Besides, isn’t your son coming home a day or two – SMILE! Here’s a hugOOO
    Jana

  13. That is just sad. Sheri, you and your elves work SO hard! Your customer service is the BEST in the buisness. You cannot let people who are selfish get to you. I know I speak for the 98% of us when I say you guys are so great. It’s just yarn. There will be more. It’s not like it’s a heart or a liver. Relax peeps. πŸ˜‰

P.S. Sheri, today is perfect Pumpkin Latte weather!!! Mmmm… That would make a yummy colorway!!! (runs to the kitchen)

  14. I…. don’t know what to say. I can repeat everything that everyone has said, about your awesomeness. But it’s already been said. I can also point out that you *could* order 3000 skeins of Wollmeise, and then everyone could order it…. in 2009. Maybe. Possibly later. I could also look a little shifty-eyed and hope that my expressions of sadness, which are NOT a criticism of you or your wonderful business, at missing Wollmeise again haven’t added to your crankiness. I seem to have a small guilt complex.

Instead, I will tell you that I’m getting some Sweet Georgia off someone on ravelry, and, since I don’t have what she wants for a trade, I told her that I would rather pay her in TLE gift certificates than in PayPal. πŸ™‚

  15. Sheri – In my mind, you have nothing to apologize for – you take such care with our orders (everything is personally wrapped and packaged, we get little treats and notes!) and you run your business honestly… there will always be people who crab about the haves and have nots – and hell, if 90% of your buyers are happy and keep coming back, screw the other 10%.

Another satisfied Loopy Groupie – best,

  16. sheri-i think you and your staff do an awesome job! especially getting orders quickly to customers like me who live in hawaii where most vendors treat like a faraway foreign land….i’ve been disappointed at missing out on some of the products, but i just tell myself “next time” cause you do such a great job stocking up on all the yummy yarns and stuff! besides, there are probably people like me who order from loopyewe exclusively because of your wide selection and first-rate customer service. as for the ‘sneak-ups’ – it makes on-line shopping fun and keeps my ol’ mind alert!

  17. Oh my goodness, I can’t believe people are cranky! I love the Sneak-Ups and treat them like a game (like somebody above said). I have lots of sock yarn and love trying out new dyers, but it’s not like it’ll kill me if I don’t get every single thing I want. I am so impressed with the time and effort that you and your family and friends put into this business! You rock!

  18. I agree with everyone who says you’re doing a great job, Sheri! I missed the Wollmeise, too – it was already sold out when I read my mail and found out about the sneak up. I’m happy anyway, because I got a couple other things I’ve had my eye on. Any by the way – if you happen to run out of boxes don’t worry. I won’t be upset if I have to wait for my order – I have plenty of yarn to keep me occupied already! : }

  19. I know I was cranky (quietly, to myself) the very first time I missed out on something I really wanted, but I ended up getting other tasty yarns that were delightful and enjoyable. So I waited patiently and eventually got what I was after. (Knitting made me a more patient person. You just can’t have that gorgeous pair of socks immediately…and sometimes it works that way with the yarn too!)

Don’t let the cranky people get you down. Everyone else is thrilled with you, and the few rainclouds will eventually come around.

  20. Indeed. If I were in that big a hurry to get Wollmeise, I could order directly from Claudia. If I wanted DiC right away, there’s other shops that have it in stock (including my LYS, where I did buy a skein to see what all the fuss is about πŸ˜‰ ). And if you could order any larger batches of the popular stuff, I’m sure you would.

I’m not in a hurry. I have enough yarn for years of knitting. I don’t have to own every single yarn I want, and I certainly don’t have to own it Right Now. And I’d rather wait until demand slows down and I get a chance at nifty yarns here, because not only does the Loopy Ewe have good service, it has perks for frequent buyers. (This is the main reason I do most of my sock yarn shopping here rather than at other online stores with good selection and service: Frequent Buyer Bonus effectively translates as 10% discount over time! And buying here is fun!)

(That said, I’m looking forward to several months from now, when WM Vergibmeinnicht, Pfauenauge, and Rittserporn stay in the shop for more than two hours at a time when I have yarn money on hand!)

  21. Sheri and Staff are doing a great job. I live on the other side of the fence, and I would like you all to know that Sheri is the best kind of buyer to work for. She does routinely buy as much yarn as I can provide her with, and has it available to you in very short order, with amazing customer service and buyer perks! I’ve even been know to buy my own yarn from her just to get a TLE package in the mail!

I would humbly submit that the limited nature of handpainted yarns contributes a great deal to their appeal. Each dyer leaves their fingerprint on the yarn in terms of color combinations and dye execution. It’s impossible to “mechanize” or streamline the hand dye process without losing the special, individual character that holds so much fascination for the knitter.

TLE has such a great assortment of hand dyers, and a Sneak Up nearly every week, that I don’t think even a disaapointed shopper can pine away too very long before another amazing skein comes their way.

  22. I’m adding my bright to this post, ’cause you need a laugh.

Imagine me (pretend you know what I look like) going to the mail box and getting this gi-normous box. I was expecting something much smaller. I opened it on the street. Not Loopy obssesed AT ALL. Then it hit me. I’m a Loopy Groupie!! So I danced and sang my way to the porch where DH was hiding the kids from the crazy lady who used to be mommy. (Imagine a one person conga line..I’m a Loopy Gropie, I’m a Loopy Groupie) I danced around a bit more and left for a PTO meeting with my goodie bag that could not be left at home, lest the non-Groupies breath upon it.

Needless to say, I Love Sheri and the Loopy Ewe!!

  23. Amen! I figure when I miss a Sneak up it just gives me more money in my pocket to buy a ton of yarny goodness later on. πŸ™‚ It also gives me the excuse for random impulse buys when I do catch a sneak up (you know, tell the husband that it could have been gone in a matter of seconds and therefore I had to buy it now!).

I think you guys do a superb job getting the mass orders out quickly and keep stocked on stuff that I must have. No complaints from this customer! πŸ™‚

  24. There always have to be complaints, don’t they? You know that most of your customers love it here and we’ll still come back. Sure, I don’t always catch the sneak-ups, but it’s so exciting when I do. I did get some Wollmeise at this time, but there have been many times where I’ve completely missed out on a high demand dyer. I figure life will go on and I can get it some other time. I have a good sized stash and there will always be yet another indie dyer that I want to try. Keep up the great work and stick with what works for you. Not everyone will be happy no matter what you do.

  25. I couldn’t believe it yesterday! I’ve been at home sick this week and I finally stumble out of bed and notice that a Loopy Groupie e-mail had gone out about 90 minutes earlier so I groggily stumble over to the Loopy Ewe and all the Wollmeise was gone again! Oh well πŸ™‚ Definitely better for my credit card this month – I’ve done enough damage with it during previous Sneak-Ups! I’ll catch one next time hopefully πŸ™‚

    I love the Loopy Ewe!!

  26. seriously… i’m not trying to be rude or minimize the talents of the woman who dyes the wollmeise stuff… i’ve seen it online and the colors look gorgeous, but…

… is it really that nice that it has this effect on people? i’ve never seen it in person. as a yarn expert, what would you say sets it apart from all the other amazing yarns on the market? or is this just another example of that Cabbage Patch Sydrome that swept through the country in the early 80’s, leaving mothers clawing at each other to get the last Cabbage Patch box at Toys R Us?

it must be Good Stuff to inspire such emotion in people…

  27. I’m not quite a Loopy-Groupie yet, but I’ve been so happy with my two orders so far that I’ve just mentioned The Loopy Ewe on my knitting guild’s newsletter as a great place to shop. I, too, regard the sneak-ups as a game, where good sportsmanship should prevail.

  28. Sheri,

The Loopy Ewe is my favorite online store because of the personal touches and customer service. I enjoy reading the handwritten notes that arrive with my yarn (sometimes I even read them before I open the yarn!). When my husband ordered the wrong size sock blockers as a surprise gift you were very helpful in getting them exchanged for the correct size. I am a dedicated blog reader and enjoy reading about your business and getting glimpses of your day-to-day life and the challenges of running the Loopy Ewe.

I am concerned when you have to get cranky, because I can only imagine the number and content of yucky comments that would cause to you to feel the need to address them publicly. It seems that when someone opens their business to be receptive to comments and interact with customers online that they also make themselves vulnerable to this sort of negativity (I’ve seen similar incidents elsewhere online).

All this to say, I think you are very professional and seem very nice and I hope you don’t ever feel the need to withdraw or cut back on your online presence.

P.S. I look forward to sneak-ups, even when I am on a cruel self-enforced yarn diet.

  29. I love sneak-ups! It is a game. I’ve been left out before and I’ve also scored some wonderful yarn. It is either meant to be or not. I’ve been checking for Wollmeise for days–I’m not a Loopie Groupy. I tried to get my nephew to fall asleep for over 1 1/2 hours yesterday. As soon as he fell asleep, I ran to my computer. As I was looking at what is new–the wollmeise was added to the page. That my friends means it was meant to be. I’m sure I will miss out at other times.

Thank you for your customer service, Sheri. Your little extra touches go a long way. Don’t let a few yarn crabs get you down. It is just yarn–no matter how much we obsess over it.

  30. I think you run a top notch business. You have by far the best customer service out of all the on-line shops. Your geniune niceness (is that even a word?) really comes through in all the little notes and extras you but into each package making us all feel special . That’s a big reason I keep coming back and shop with you. Well… that and the yarns lol!

Thanks again for all your hard work, great customer service, and beautiful yarn!

  31. if we all got what we wanted exactly when we wanted, what would we have to wish for? And in the end, wouldn’t life be pretty boring? I like the sneak ups. I think they add some mystery and suspense to an otherwise ordinary day. Thanks for the anticipation, it makes your heart beat faster and makes shopping one of the few actually enjoable aerobic exercises I can think of.

  32. The way I figure it with cranky complainers is that no matter what you do to please them, they will find something to crank and complain about. It’s just the way they are.
Also, if they would read some of the thousands of knitting blogs out there in cyberworld and see the pics of how many have received Loopy Ewe yarn they would get a small vision of the amount of yarn going out of your establishment.
    We MUST learn to share!

If anyone complains about not getting what’s on the sneak up, well my goodness, look around, there are HUNDREDS of skeins of gorgeous yarn still available. Yeah, its nice to get the high demand yarns, but you might want to try some of that luscious yarn still available and be pleasantly surprised. I’ve Never been disappointed in any of the yarn I’ve received, whether or not it was considered high demand.
People try some of the other yarn, you will have a great surprise.

Sheri, your yarn, your site and your customer service is fabulous! As long as you are around, I will never loose yarn weight πŸ™‚ .

  33. Emily, that is a great idea! Stagger the goodness at completely random intervals. I really do like it – but, there would be an aweful lot of very tired people – folks would be checking even more frequently. The sadistic side of me likes it!! The part of me that wants Yarntini – doesn’t like it quite that much.

Really, the e-mail letting you know an update is here? It is almost too late. The sharks they swarm on sneak up weeks. I used to think the e-mail would solve it all, but not really. I get my best yarns with VIGILANCE, CONSTANT VIGILANCE. When I am completely obsessed I check almost hourly or more – thank goodness for insomnia on those nights. I work at it and so do lots of others. Ahem, Yarntini anyone? Never mind, it is mine, all mine. Yes, greedy yarn hoarder who is out for herself only (well, maybe mom too) on Sneak Up days. I just don’t have that be nice to others with yarn ability.

Sheri, hon? YOU DO A GREAT JOB!! I rarely order elsewhere now. After you get the worsted DIC? I may never order anywhere else. If you get Habu? I will have to work with you – I have a pretty nice Habu dealer. You have the best attitude and really want people to be happy. I enjoy shopping with you and your helpers. I loved my package today. I got some wonderful yarn – and it wasn’t even sneak up yarn!

To everyone else, really – that Chinese Red ShibuiKnits? Way prettier than the picture. It has a little subtle color variation and is not as glaring as the picture. Don’t get me wrong, still red, but somehow not as strident. I am glad I took a chance!

  34. I got the notice within minutes of it going up and I bought none of it. Don’t get me wrong, I looked and I debated, and I had a lot of fun clicking around to see what I don’t usually get to see, but I didn’t feel the urge and refrained.

I’m still so happy with the Chocolate Royale that I purchased in one of the last sneak-ups that I’m not even lusting after ANY yarn right now. The funny thing is that I had that particular colorway in my cart way back in April or May and it leapt from my cart! When I saw it again I knew I had to have it. πŸ™‚ Delayed gratification, but oh, so sweet. It keeps me company while I work. hee

  35. I guess there will always be a sour grape in the bunch…

The majority of us know why you do what you do and understand. Personally I love how the sneak ups work and think it’s the best way you could do it!

Ditto on being a nice day and wishing to knit all day. Unfortunately school is demanding this week…ick.

  36. I placed an order last evening for 2 of Wendy’s sock patterns. When I got up at 5am and checked my email this morning, I was notified that they had already been shipped. Prompt service is really great and much appreciated, but, ya know, you folks need to get your sleep, too. You shouldn’t be up all night, exhausting yourselves.

Much as everyone wants the new stuff, we ALL have stashes to keep us busy!!

  37. I had to laugh because the dinky horescope I read for entertainment told me yesterday to stop purchasing things that I didn’t need. And I thought “you always need yarn.” Then I missed the update because it was during my 2 hour train ride home from work. I think someone was trying to tell me something πŸ™‚

  38. Don’t let the cranky folks upset you! Some people are just never happy, no matter what you do. It is sometimes frustrating when you can’t get the yarn you wanted…but really, it adds to the thrill of the hunt and heightens the anticipation! Part of the fun of the indie dyers is that you can’t just waltz out to the nearest yarn shop and pick any color you want. Anyway, stop feeling like you need to apologize for running out of yarn and boxes–everybody knows The Loopy Ewe is the best yarn shop out there! πŸ™‚

  39. This was the first “Sneak-Up” for me after attaining Groupie Status — and would you believe that my computer got hit by Lightning! So, no Internet at home to get the prized notice! So, when I went into my shop today, and got the email, I high-tailed it over to the website — and managed to find $80 worth of wonderful yarn to buy! Imagine!

Ever since I have been in business, I have been amazed at the amount of “advice” from well-meaning customers on just how I should run my business! After reading Wendy’s and your blogs lately – I kinda get a little testy! You should run your businesses the way YOU want, and not give out all these “reasons” for not doing it their way! If they think it’s so easy, they should try it themselves!

I appreciate all that you do – and will continue to purchase from you (until I run out of either $$ or room! πŸ™‚ Take the high road, and don’t let them get you down!

  40. Oh Sheri, I’m so sorry you got beaten up by the 2% complainers. You know, they will never be happy no matter what you do, and the rest of us all think you are the GREATEST! I’ve said it before, but here it is again…I feel so privileged to be able to shop in person in the Loopy Room, and feel like you have become a great friend as well as my dearest enabler of my yarn/sock/knitting addiction!

I was lucky to get a few Wendy patterns with this sneak-up, but I missed out on much of the Yarn Nerd and the new Wollmeise. Am I complaining? Of course NOT! Just look in my basement and you’ll see the acres of wound-but-unknitted as well as the not-yet-wound-and-therefore-unknitted stash that I have. It’s not like I’m lacking in choices of what to work on next!!! I’m know you will get more orders and I’ll be getting more yarn another day.

(Oh, but you’ll have to see the kits I’ve fallen in love with courtesy of Yarn Harlot’s blog!)

I’d love to come help you pack orders on one of my days off. Give me a call if you need some extra help (I think you have my number!). I’ll even bring the mochajavapeppermintspicepumpkinspicecaffeinefreeorfullycaffeinated-
    skimorextracreamyloaded lattes!

You and your shop are the absolute BEST!!! THANKS for all you do!

  41. Well, I wish I was on your back porch knitting too, and I would even help pack boxes just to feel all the yarn as it goes into the boxes. I think you do a wonderful job, and you can’t make everyone happy ALL the time, so I would just continue to do what works best for you and the majority. There have been many times I got to the computer too late or shopped a little to long, comparing colors and missed out, but oh well, you will get it back in again sometime.

Sounds like you need to make a starbucks run and sit and knit for a little while.

I am enjoying the cool weather today and am actually able to wear my Spice Market Wollmeise socks they are soooo comfy! πŸ™‚

  42. Ditto and ditto again. Let’s try not to work our talented indie dyers to death! Even if I miss Wollmeise again and again….it’s OK because I’m busy with all my previous “scores”. Besides – in reality – there isn’t THAT much difference in these yarns. There are only so many base yarns available to use and only so many colors. Mmmmmm…..lovely colors…………mmmmmm

  43. I’m simply delighted that indie people are figuring out how to get that much volume to you! And that you’re selling out so quickly!

I must say, though, that I am greatly looking forward to a Loopy Retreat with perhaps a Trade-with-ewe swap with other Loopy fanatics that have been buying all the good stuff and sticking it in their nice stashes. Hehehe. Oh Web Guy and Photo Husband- I’d love a video of how Sherri packages up each shipment with her TLC (maybe even with a little waving to the poor route 56 post-person). You’ve got every right to be proud, as a small business, enabling small businesses. So much so that Loopy shoppers crash the website!

Mmm. All this talk of socks. I’m knitting a bagstopper on big 10.5 needles which is way too jumbo to be my preferred needle size. Perhaps I’ll cast on a sock tonight!

  44. Sheri, you do a fantastic job. You can’t please all the people all of the time (or so the saying goes), and there are always going to be people who want things their way because a) they can’t go with the flow and accept that sometimes they’re going to miss out, and b) they just like to complain to hear themselves, because nobody else pays any attention to them. While I understand that it’s important for you to try and have happy customers (and you do), forget about the detractors. You’re never going to please them no matter what you do. I think having the Sneak-Ups at random times is a wonderful idea, and it’s the fairest thing you can do. It allows people to not have to stalk the site and get on with their lives. I didn’t get some things I wanted yesterday, but that’s okay. I have so much yarn that I could stack the skeins up and build a house out of them. If I miss out on something, there’s the chance that it will come up again. If not, then it wasn’t meant to be.

If these people are so bummed about missing out on certain yarns, they can always get them somewhere else or learn how to spin and dye their own yarn. Then they can customize it any way they want.

You’re the best, Sheri. Other than Etsy, yours and one other shop are the only two I shop at. Your service is outstanding (Mark can’t wait for the goodies you send, although he’s hoping for chocolate again soon), you’re a delight to talk to, and your customer service is second to none. You’ve done an incredible job and continue to do so. Just be proud of what you’ve accomplished and enjoy your customers, and the people who like to hear their own voices will either get with the program or go away. You don’t need that kind of grief anyway. We love you. πŸ™‚

  45. I always think of that old saying about making all the people happy all of the time. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t happen. But, Sheri, there’s is absolutetly nothing you can do about, nor would I bang my head against the wall trying to fix it. It’s your business, and we, all knitters, have the choice to buy to from you or a different online source. Honestly, I wouldn’t sweat it. Enjoy your business, enjoy your life, drink a pumpkin latter, and keep on knitting.

  46. Wah, wah, wah…don’t you hate whiners???? I know that when I miss something, I will get another chance in the future….Having owned a retail business, there is NO WAY one can anticipate demand. There is also no way one can know what will be shipped and exactly when.

I think you all (not the Texas y’all, but all of your staff) do an outstanding job. I receive my orders quicker than at any other mail order business, always excellently packed and with a cheery note (which must be hard to manage at 1 AM).

    Thank you!!!!!

  47. Let me just say for everyone clamoring to get all the hot new things you are stocking that some of the ‘old’ ones are still just as fabulous as ever. Anyone tried Lorna’s Laces lately? Beautiful stuff knit up. Cherry Tree Hill is a top notch dyer with endless colors and solids. I also like good old Regia Silk, solid though they may be. They have a lovely hand and stitch definition and are so soft – great colors for mens socks.

Not trying to single out just these 3 mind you. There is just SOOO much good stuff here at one-stop-shopping Loopy Ewe. Look around and try something you haven’t yet tried. You may fall in love with something that is readily available to you.

Btw I lost out on one yarn I had picked yesterday but still got things I am very happy with. :>)

  48. The world does not end if you do not get a skein of Wollmeise (I say that, and I love the stuff) people! There are worse situations in the world. Yarn is yarn, and yes, we all love it. But, FPS – Let’s give Sheri a break. She’s a sweet, honest, hard-working, creative woman, who is doing a bang-up job at this business. Sheri, don’t let them get you down! You’re fab, and TLE will be here for a long time, mostly because you take care of your customers (and you are a great enabler – :)! AMEN. Rant also completed. AND NO – I DIDN’T GET ANY WOLLMEISE YESTERDAY. AND IT WAS MY ANNIVERSARY, and IT was 911, FPS – get a grip!
PS – being that my anniversary is on 911 should give you some kind of idea what type of life I live, even though we were married before 2001…..
