We have been busy around here the past couple of months, secretly collecting the most beautiful lace yarns that we could find. Solids, variegateds, silk, cashmere, merino – you name it, we have found it. We were going to wait until it ALL came in to tell you about it, but we’re simply bursting at the seams with wonderful lace yarn and we wanted you to know about it now! We’re targeting the week after next to put it all up on the website. In the meantime, I thought you might want to start planning some of your next lace projects and these teaser pictures might help.
We will be stocking all of the colors of Rowan KidSilk Haze (half are in-house already, the other ones on backorder and hopefully coming soon), many many colors of Cashwool by Baruffa (simply the softest solid-colored extra-fine merino I have ever held), Helen’s Lace by Lorna’s Laces in 10 gorgeous colors, 2-ply cashmere by Hand Maiden (that I am SO making bed socks out of, too), Schaefer Andrea (100% silk, 100% amazing), and Sea Silk by Hand Maiden in limited edition 150g hanks. Plus – we will be adding in even more lace by some of your favorite indie-dyers in the weeks and months to come. It has been fun searching out wonderful lace yarns for you, and hard keeping it a secret! A huge thank you goes out to Wendy, who has acted as my lace consultant on this whole project. You KNOW that she knows lace! So take a look at these photos:
And just so you don’t think we’re moving even a SMIDGEON away from sock yarns (because we aren’t in the least), here is a picture of another indie-dyer that we are delighted to have coming to The Loopy Ewe in June. Angela has created the wonderfully popular Duets Sock Yarn line, where she pairs beautiful colorways with coordinating solids for the toes and heels. I’m hoping to cast on with this one over the weekend. We have lots and lots of Duets on order, just for you. 🙂
More yarns doing a Sneak Up next week – Chewy Spaghetti, Scarlet Fleece, Yarn Love, Lorna’s Laces Sport and possibly more. The boxes keep getting bigger as they are delivered here. This week, the UPS guy came and I opened the door just as he was getting back into his truck. There were several boxes on my porch, but one of them was the size of a washing machine. I tried to lift it and it would.not.budge. I yelled out to him, “I can’t lift this!” He said, “Yeah it’s really really heavy – over 120 pounds. Do you want me to put it inside for you?” “Ummm…. yes. I do. Definitely.”
Heading our way: Seacoast, Zen String, sKNITches, Yarn Pirate, Yarntini, Apple Laine, Perchance to Knit and of course new surprises. Keep a watch on our “Coming Soon” section of the homepage for clues on future Sneak Ups.

Pardon me while I pause to hyperventilate at ALL THAT LACE YARN.
I think I need to use my “get out of jail free” card from my Knit From Your Stash endeavor on lace yarn from the Loopy Ewe. Just sayin’. 😉
Beautiful! I will have to get back on my lace project so that I could justify a purchase.
Perhaps for Wendy you could do a one-time, buy now, pay later deal (hey if it ships in an appliance box, could it get billed like one?), so as not to violate the knit from your stash. :), or, Wendy, if you purchased it with the intent of knitting a sock that somehow happens to turns into a shawl… Just thinking out loud here.
Lace! How exciting!
One hundred and twenty pounds of YARN… *swoons*
Can’t wait to see the lace gallery, too! 😀
WOW Sheri! I’m so happy for you (and secretly for me) for the lace yarn additions. My wallet may not forgive me, LOL.
Looking forward to the start of the sock club! 🙂
I want to be there for all of these! I’ve been thinking of doing something from Victorian Lace Today–Wendy has inspired us all–and I find sock yarns just impossible to resist. Oh, my budget!
I just had to comment! Lace! So exciting! I love the idea of the duet sock yarn! And I love the notes at the end (wholovesshoppingfornewyarnsforallofus). I think this one is one of my favorites!
I just keep repeating….sock yarns don’t count as stash……
Gorgeous yarns there. i don’t know how you can stand it. all that yarn and so little knitting time! i’m still happy that the lace bug hasn’t bitten me. but, i’m sure i could knit socks or something with double strands of those beautiful yarns. til then, i’ll keep doing the charity knitting. i truly enjoy knitting for others even more than for myself. we have a beautiful sunny day here in michigan. i know that isn’t your thing sheri ( : but i’m still thinking of you today. happy knitting to all.
I am so excited that you will be carrying the Hand Maiden lace weights.I am currently knitting a scarf out of Sea Silk and it is the most wonderful yarn I have ever worked with!I can’t wait for the large skeins! Now I can order all my favorite yarns in one fell swoop.Thank you Sheri.
YAY! My other vice! This gives me the option of purchasing lace yarn for designs from a shop I love and know! That’s a really good lineup for lace yarns, I might add. I’ve got a skein of Helen’s Lace calling to me from my chair/yarn storage space. It’s for a piece for knitty, but I’m just so in love with it!
Holy cow! Who sent you one hundred and twenty POUNDS of yarn???? (That could be a contest – guess the vendor!)
You carry so much good stuff…..stop it!! It’s too hard to keep up!!
Lace–how great! Would you be stocking Miriam Felton’s shawl patterns? 🙂
Thanks!!
fromkaywhothinkssheridoesamightyfinejob!
Oh, my. Thank goodness, I am not on the lace bandwagon yet. But, I don’t know about Sheri and the Loopy. I kind of think she could hook all of us into lots of fun new adventures:)
Wow! Lace! That is simply awesome! I was just thinking the other day that I wanted you to carry more than sock yarn. Not that I don’t love sock yarn, but I would love to do most, if not all, of my yarn shopping with you. So, now I’m glad you have another line!! Woo hoo!
Yes, Miriam Felton’s shawl patterns would be wonderful! Also, have you thought about carrying the new Addi Turbo Lace needles?
I second the Addi Turbo Lace needles. I haven’t bought any yet and I want to add a few to my collection ;). C’mon Sheri tell us you have these coming in soon 🙂
When the lace yarn comes in, can you intercede with Wendy to amend our stash knitting agreement to exclude ALL Loopy Ewe purchases? 😉
There is a word for you: yarn pimp.
Ok that’s 2, but you get the gist 🙂 Can’t wait!
Lace yarn!!!!! Socks and lace are all I knit these days. You have such great feedback that I shall order from you.
I’m so excited – for you and for me! I love buying yarn from you – I haunt the website every day, plotting my next purchase. And I just bought a new house with my boyfriend – lots more room for yarn!
You must be building up some serious muscles lifting all that wonderful yarn!
You’re Killin ME! and I’m sure the rest of us out there in SHERRI HAS SOCK YARN AND SHE’S NOT SHARIN YET….lol
Blogless Diane
Oh sure. There goes the budget now with lace yarn. Sheri, you just seem to know what everyone is going to want, me included. Need I say more? Yum, yum, yum. I sit on your site most of the day now. Seriously, congratulation on the wonderful expansion of your business.
How exciting!!! You have such a good eye for picking out the best yarns and I’m sure the lace will be no exception!
I’m feeling overhwelmed by my sock yarn stash and then you go and do lace. Sigh….
*blink*
I just spent several hours two nights ago trying to figure out where I was going to get some SeaSilk, and had even considered emailing you to see if you could special order it, except I wanted to do a major “Lace Yarn” purchase… uh… because I’m, uh, a collector! Yes! A yarn collector! *whistles*
That is flippin’ awesome. It solves everything.
I’m still vulturing around, waiting for the Zen String and the Yarn Pirate to come in.
Whee, secret’s out! I had JUST bought some of the 150g Sea Silk from another store. Let’s just say I’m in looooove.
I’m so happy you’re going to be carrying Duet. I’ve been resisting it for months, but in June I may give in.
Sheri, will it be just the kidsilk haze, or all the kidsilks? I like the night and spray, too!
Very impressive and sneaky to get us addicts even more hooked into the scene. ‘Oh man I need a fix… not sock weight today, gimme a line of line of laceweight.”
Now I may have to try a lace project. I hope someone blogging here or you Sheri or maybe Wendy can recommend some quasi-mindless lace project that won’t take a year to do. I love the look of lace but am really fearful of screwing up some complicated pattern and getting discouraged. Is there a good lace primer out there somewhere? Anyway these yarn lines are famous so I am anxious to try some out.
BTW love the Duets idea. I will be after one of those. Nice job Sheri. 🙂
Oh, my goodness!! Let me wipe the drool from my keyboard. As if I really needed anything else to tempt me to place another order. My two biggest vices (besides books) are sock yarn and laceweight. Can’t wait to see everything you’ll have!
I was thinking the other day that the only way to make the Loopy Ewe even more perfecter C: would be to add lace yarn to it. I may never leave the site!!! Thanks so much for this… WOO HOOO
Wow, I don’t even knit lace and I’m excited 🙂
I must have died and gone to heaven. my heart stopped when I opened this post. You are a very very naughty girl, with me on stash restriction. Are lace blocking wires next? The worst part is, I used up my loopy credit *yesterday*. Sigh. I know I will love that sock yarn though!
Well it’s official, the Loopy Ewe is no my one stop shop for yarns. Goodie, lace and sock yarn, woops their goes my wallet. 🙂
Congrats on the expansion. I know it’s going to go over extremely well. Glad you love buying yarn for us because we love buying yarn from you. 🙂
I love the lure of lace, the delicate yarns and wondrous ways that yarn and needles unite to create such fine pieces of lace. Lace yarn is such a nice addition to Loopy Ewe…here’s to success!
Well, I’m not really into lace, but Eeeeeeee!!! for next week’s stocking! I can’t wait to get me some Yarn Love!!
Just to clarify, does “next week” start on Sunday or Monday? I promise I won’t tell (hee hee). I’ll do anything to have an advantage at getting first pick! It didn’t take me long to get hooked on your Indie-dyers! I’m ordering at each sneak up to hasten my induction as a Loopy Groupie.
Wow on the big box…was that all yarn? Holy moly!! The lace looks fabulous too.
Well Sheri, did you start that lace project yet that you talked about a while back????? I don’t think you have any more excuses. LOL. Tell Wendy that the Loopy Ewe period doesn’t count as stash.
OK, see that pink/green Hand Maiden yarn in the front of the pic? That’s mine…all mine LOL! All I can say is, Wow! Beautiful yarns, all of them. Happy weekend, Sheri.
A 120 lb box of yarn?
I’m so jealous!!!
p.s. you’re killing me with these sneak ups!!!!! It may not be “official” yet, but I’m definitely one of your groupies! LOL
I would like to echo mo’s comment: you are SUCH a yarn pimp!! Now you’re definitely the only stop I need for all my fixes.
Lace is my other addiction (how did you know?) and I do love that Miss Felton’s patterns (Hi Miriam!). I’m also thinking of trying out the new Addi lace needles. I’m glad you’ve got some solid colour lace yarn, not just the variegateds, because lace patterns are often obscured by wild shifts in colour. Having said that, I would now like to swoon at the mere metion of Hand Maiden Cashmere. *Sigh*
Thanks for all your hard work, Sheri!
Oh, and for the other Michelle in Arizona – Miriam’s Seraphim pattern is a lovely fingering weight shawl that is quite simple to start with. She also has lace tutorials on her blog, as does Eunny Jang. As for primers on lace, well, I have some books, but they were acquired ex post facto, as in after I had jumped in feet first to knit the traditional Shetland Rosemary shawl in cobweb weight just because I liked the look of it. I’d be willing to bet you have the ability to dive in and just go for it!
OOOOOOOOOOOHHHH, AAAAAAAAAHHHHH, I have been wanting some of that Hand Maiden yarn.
Well there goes the budget right to hell! Guess it’s a good thing my checking account is separate from my husband’s. Now where’s that tax refund? 🙂
And what Michelle in SE AZ said – ditto!
LACE? Seriously!? I think you have just become my favorite dealer…..no wait, vendor. Yeah. That’s it.
Wow…I was just thinking the other day that it would be really nice if you sold lace yarn since this is my favorite place to shop! I am very happy – my wallet and my husband may not be so thrilled, but they’ll just have to deal with it!
Sheri –
Your yarn just gets better and better! Congrats on the lace additions. They’re gorgeous!
I have been dying to try the Hand Maiden Seal Silk and holding off from adding to the stash…but the temptation is becoming too great! I can’t wait to see what colors you get so I can place an order.
I am drooling all over my keyboard. I will have to knit myself a drool bib for future visits to the loopy ewe
You is a bad, bad woman. That is all.
