We have been busy around here the past couple of months, secretly collecting the most beautiful lace yarns that we could find. Solids, variegateds, silk, cashmere, merino – you name it, we have found it. We were going to wait until it ALL came in to tell you about it, but we’re simply bursting at the seams with wonderful lace yarn and we wanted you to know about it now! We’re targeting the week after next to put it all up on the website. In the meantime, I thought you might want to start planning some of your next lace projects and these teaser pictures might help.
We will be stocking all of the colors of Rowan KidSilk Haze (half are in-house already, the other ones on backorder and hopefully coming soon), many many colors of Cashwool by Baruffa (simply the softest solid-colored extra-fine merino I have ever held), Helen’s Lace by Lorna’s Laces in 10 gorgeous colors, 2-ply cashmere by Hand Maiden (that I am SO making bed socks out of, too), Schaefer Andrea (100% silk, 100% amazing), and Sea Silk by Hand Maiden in limited edition 150g hanks. Plus – we will be adding in even more lace by some of your favorite indie-dyers in the weeks and months to come. It has been fun searching out wonderful lace yarns for you, and hard keeping it a secret! A huge thank you goes out to Wendy, who has acted as my lace consultant on this whole project. You KNOW that she knows lace! So take a look at these photos:
And just so you don’t think we’re moving even a SMIDGEON away from sock yarns (because we aren’t in the least), here is a picture of another indie-dyer that we are delighted to have coming to The Loopy Ewe in June. Angela has created the wonderfully popular Duets Sock Yarn line, where she pairs beautiful colorways with coordinating solids for the toes and heels. I’m hoping to cast on with this one over the weekend. We have lots and lots of Duets on order, just for you. 🙂
More yarns doing a Sneak Up next week – Chewy Spaghetti, Scarlet Fleece, Yarn Love, Lorna’s Laces Sport and possibly more. The boxes keep getting bigger as they are delivered here. This week, the UPS guy came and I opened the door just as he was getting back into his truck. There were several boxes on my porch, but one of them was the size of a washing machine. I tried to lift it and it would.not.budge. I yelled out to him, “I can’t lift this!” He said, “Yeah it’s really really heavy – over 120 pounds. Do you want me to put it inside for you?” “Ummm…. yes. I do. Definitely.”
Heading our way: Seacoast, Zen String, sKNITches, Yarn Pirate, Yarntini, Apple Laine, Perchance to Knit and of course new surprises. Keep a watch on our “Coming Soon” section of the homepage for clues on future Sneak Ups.

This is wonderful news! Perhaps you were hiding a conspiratorial little giggle a couple of days ago when you asked if I knit lace. I am enjoying knitting my lace shawl so much and just yesterday was wishing that after I finish this shawl and want to start on a new lace project I could buy my lace yarn from you. Now I can! Because, of course, being a new lace knitter I have NO lace stash!
On the sock front, I, too, am casting on Duets Socks today, in the Sweet Spring colourway. It is very soft and cushy. Enjoy yours!
*squeals of delight* Ooh, I was hoping you’d start carrying lace yarns, and now my wish has been granted. Yippee!
Congrats on your expansion!
Sheri, thank you for all the opportunities you provide me to build my character. To teach me restraint and self control. It’s lovely of you to contribute to my growth.
YOU CAN STOP ANY TIME NOW THANK YOU VERY MUCH : )
Yum! I love lace – I’m excited to see all you’ll have! Speaking of the lace, I just received a skein of the Claudia Handpainted silk laceweight. GORGEOUS. Something to consider for the lace lovers!
I’m doomed. Lace being my other current obsession. I don’t know how I’m gonna manage to kint everything I’m sure I’m going to succumb to buying. Lucky me that that’s my big problem eh?
They all look absolutely luscious. I’m looking forward to seeing them.
I’m not believing what I am reading…a 120 lb. box of yarn?????? Oh, my ……..
I don’t know how you get anything done around the “Loop”. I would be just sitting in the middle of all of that yarn and talking to myself.
I echo everyone else on the congrats on your expansion. It’s a treat to see nice people doing so well.
Oh my gosh…today’s post is so dangerous — for my wallet! I can’t wait to try some of those lace yarns. I have to share your post with my friend who is a lace knitting fiend. And, I really like the looks of the Duets sock yarns. I think sock yarns and lace yarns are a perfect combo — I love knitting socks and shawls. Guess I’d better get finished with the alpacha shawl on the needles so I can buy more yarn. Thanks for expanding our horizons!
…
But I need the lace yarn NOW for my first lace project…
Wow! Congratulations on being able to add even moore yarn!
WHINE! Sheri I am *trying* to save up for that Zela Limescicle bag! Stop stop stop!
::sniff::

Yeah!! I just bought yarn for a lace project but if all goes well I know where to buy more. I’ve gotten pretty picky about any yarn I buy but I so want to try the Duet and I’m thrilled that you’ll be carrying it. I can’t wait!
Brilliant! What a fantastic idea. I didn’t think it was possible to improve on perfection, but clearly I underestimated you, Sheri. Have a good weekend!
YUM!!! I’m in yarn ecstasy! You’re gonna kill my bank account, Sheri. ; ) It just so happens that I recently purchased “Lace Style”. Guess I better take a look through there and find out what my first lace project, and first real non-sock project, is going to be!
I’m so glad you will be carrying the Duets Sock Yarn! Yeh! I love that stuff!
Holy moly! Handmaiden 2-ply cashmere is one of my favorite yarns… Must resist the evil power of Sheri…
Okay, should I just *mail* you my paycheck!? The only other kind of yarn I buy alot of besides sock yarn is lace yarn. Sheesh…. next it will be roving and then I’ll just have to move in with you
Seriously, great move on your part, conquer the world one skein at a time.
Oh thank goodness! Thank goodness I DON’T knit lace, or my stash would be doubling in size, and it’s already threatening to eat up my basement!
Guess what…I went into a patient room to see someone at work, and there was his mom, knitting socks! We bonded immediately….and I looked at two pairs she had made (lovely, both of them), and so I got my socks-in-progresss that I always take to work with me just in case there might be a minute to throw a couple of stitches (of course, it was busy tonight and there wasn’t….). And we chatted for a bit, and she told me she has a pattern published in a book, and she has a web site, and I said “surely you have purchased from the Loopy Ewe, haven’t you”, but she said she has enough in her stash for several lifetimes, but I wrote the “loopyewe.com” website on their discharge papers, and so she might just buy something! (And that would count as another referral from me…tee hee….). So there you go. Knitting in the ER!
But Duets does look very cool, and I guess I’ll have to try some….
Do you really think it will snow tomorrow????????
I have to admit…
I am stalking the store until I see your exclusive zen string 🙂
I am in LOVE 🙂
Oh *drool*. Lace yarn is the only other yarn I will just sponateneously collect and I have been absolutely lusting after Sea Silk… But cashmere sounds pretty darn good too.
I’m so excited about the lace yarn! Please consider getting some of the solid colors of the lace yarns like Helen’s Lace. I know they exist, but no one seems to sell them. Some lace patterns really look best when made frm a solid or nearly solid color.
Oh baby. This is very dangerous. Way, way too much enabling going on here. As if I wasn’t already haunting the site, waiting for the next update….Have a good weekend, you’re going to need it!
EEEEK! Lace and the Loopy Ewe! No Way! Can you adopt me? 😉
I’m going to have to hide my password until May. And to think I was just contemplating sending you an email about carrying the SeaSilk. Oh, I’m on a downward spiral for sure now. I’ll have to sleep on a bed of yarn just to fit it all in my room. 😉
Well how exciting is that?!? I’m sure that with your impeccable taste the lace-weight will be a smashing success! I can’t wait to check out all the goodies when they go up in the shop.
Yes!!! I’m another who loves BOTH sock yarn and lace yarn! Can’t wait to check out what you get from the boutique dyers. 🙂
Oh, be still my racing heart!!! 🙂
The loopy tote is so darling! Oh my!
Excuse me…I think I just heard my wallet scream. lol I cannot resist yarn, it’s like cake…only better. No calories and it lasts much longer.
I’m sure I’m not the first to offer, but if you run out of room to store that yarn, I would have no problems helping you out by storing some. 😉
This is great. i have been knitting for over 50 years and have been afraid to ever try lace. Now this is going to tempt me. Will you carry some beginner lace patterns for lace-a-phobic people like me?
Otherwise i will be knitting socks out of lace weight yarn LOL
Oh lordy! You might just kill me with the lace! Sock & lace yarn are the 2 that get me every time! And it looks like you are going to carry some I haven’t tried yet. Can’t wait!
i am a big kid, so as soon as that box the size of a washing machine showed up, the yarn would be on the floor, and i would be in the box. and i would sit in the box until someone told me to get out of said box, and then i would close it up and ignore them. but that’s just me…
I LOVE the Baruffa Cashwool. It is incredibly soft and fine – and for the solid color seekers, seek no further. I seem to be collecting all the colors and look forward to adding more to my collection.
