We’ve barely started June, but it’s already time to start thinking about July Camp Loopy so your supplies arrive in time! Our Cinematic journey continues this month. For full details, please reference the June Camp Loopy Announcement. Camp Loopy is virtual camp – no need to travel, and all are welcome. You can jump in for any (or all) months, no need to worry about prerequisites!
July Camp Loopy Challenge
July takes a look at movies you love to hate. Maybe you watch because your partner or friend loves it, but you secretly can’t stand it, or it’s not a film you really like it but somehow every time it comes on you get sucked right in. Perhaps you initially loved it, but it’s been played so many times you are just over it. MAYBE, you actually love it, but are embarrassed to say so. These will be our group choices this month! The fun thing about July Camp Loopy is that there are endless ways in which you can make these pairings work!
The July Categories
I Don’t Know Why I’m Watching This
Use a technique or color that you usually avoid. Is there a technique you haven’t mastered or a color that does not normally sing to you? This month will allow you to improve your skills or select a new-to-you color. You may even learn to love your choice! Alternatively, what a great excuse/motivation to make that gift for someone who doesn’t share your taste (uhm, hot pink skirt when my daughter was 5?). This group aims to get outside your comfort zone and try something new or to improve a skill you feel needs help. Pair your chosen project (by yarn, pattern, technique, color) to a movie (by title, director, actor, etc.) you secretly hate. Don’t worry, we won’t make you watch it (but you just might end up watching it anyway!)!
The Over Done
Use a technique that you feel is overplayed. It could be one you’ve used so many times you feel guilty doing it again. Maybe all your friends are providing peer-pressure, and you feel bad jumping on the bandwagon. Give in to the hype and go with the flow. This group gives you permission to re-do patterns and colors you feel like you should move on from! Pair your chosen project (by yarn, pattern, technique, color) to a movie (by title, director, actor, etc.) you (maybe) once loved but have used a thousand times, and (maybe) have grown tired of. No judgement from us if you actually love your July project despite it being over done!
The Secret Love
Use a technique or color that you don’t usually admit you like, but secretly adore. Maybe you love to complain about 1×1 ribbing, or stockinette, or brioche, or stranded color work, but in your heart you know it gives you a little thrill or a meditative moment. Pair your chosen project (by yarn, pattern, technique, color) to a movie (by title, director, actor, etc.) you secretly love. Sit back, relax and enjoy without judgement (from us)!
July Camp Loopy Store Week
We are offering a 15% discount on the yarn you are using for your July project, when you purchase between June 6-13, 2023.
You will need to leave us an order comment telling us which specific yarn will be used for your project. If there isn’t a note, then we won’t be able to apply the discount.
Also, please note that you are welcome to use Loopy credit OR the discount. We aren’t able to add both. If we see that you’ve used Loopy credit, we will not add a discount on top of that.
Remember the Key Requirements
To receive Camp Points for your project, please make sure you check these boxes:
- Yarn for the project must be purchased from The Loopy Ewe June 6, 2023, or later.
- Project must use the yardage you are hoping to meet (check out the June Blog for details) HELD SINGLY (or x2, if held double).
- Project must not be started before July 1, 2023 and must be completed by July 31, 2023.
- A photo of the completed project must be emailed to us by August 1, 2023. (support@theloopyewe.com)
