June 1 – Camp Loopy Start Day

The Loopy Ewe Camp Loopy Start Day

Time to blast off into Outer Space, with our June starts! Feels like we have been waiting forever, doesn’t it? Get your needles (or hooks) clicking and keep us posted on your progress. We have sent a lot of Camp yarn out this past month, and now we can’t wait to see what you’re working on!

We wanted to start the day with a contest. Tell us your favorite outer space movie. OR, tell us your favorite TV show to binge watch. With all of the knitting and crocheting happening this month, we probably all need a few new ideas.

We’ll do the random-draw next week and the winner will get a fun surprise box of cool things from us!

Also be sure to follow us and tag us on Instagram, as we’re doing drawings over there this summer, too. https://www.instagram.com/theloopyewe/

Happy Camping, friends!

  1. My favorite show to binge watch is The West Wing, though Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a close second. Both have seven seasons to enjoy. Lately I have been re-watching NCIS which has more than twice as many seasons!

My favorite space films are the Star Trek series…including TOS, TNG and the recent reboot!

  2. Apollo 13 is a great “space movie.” I’ve recently started binge watching “Game of Thrones,” but don’t think that’s a good series to watching while knitting. There’s SO much going on. I hate to admit it, but I’ve recently starting binge watching “Dance Moms.” It’s like a train wreck you just can’t not watch!

  3. As a kid, I always watched Star Trek now I’m more into Star Wars. I can spend days binge watching NCIS.

  4. My favorite outer-space movie of all time: the original, first, best Star Wars, with Luke and Leia and Han and Chewie and Old Ben and R2 and Threepio!!!!!! I’ve seen this movie more times than I can count.

Favorite scifi tv shows — Doctor Who (favorite Doctors: Tom Baker, David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker), Star Trek (original and Next Gen), Firefly. Hoping to binge-watch Deep Space Nine while Camp knitting (although maybe with the July project — June is too hard, lol!)

    1. My favourite knitting binge show is QI. I love Star Wars, I was born in the year the first one (or the 4th one depending how you count them) came out so have been watching it literally my whole life

  5. My favorite binge watch is still Downton Abbey. Swoon!

Thanks for the contest – a lovely surprise!

  6. My favorite space movie has to be Star Wars. I watched it so many times with my son when he was young. Favorite binge programs are the British cooking shows. Strangely, I like the architectural British programs on Netflix. I like to see the big, beautiful homes. I don’t want one, just enjoy seeing them being built.

  7. I have to agree with previous comments that I both love and would happily binge watch Firefly, but it is definitely not family friendly. For a more family friendly movie check out Spaceballs. Since even that might not be friendly enough for the youngest campers, we recently read “Zathura” , which is wonderful and worth owning just for the illustrations. And we will check out the corresponding movie. 🙂

  8. It’s been a long time since I saw the original ones, but Star Wars is one of my favorite space movies. Another one I love (though it doesn’t take place in outer space) is Hidden Figures!

  9. My favorite space movie is Star Wars. And my favorite tv show would be Doctor Who especially the ones with the 10th Doctor.

  10. Space movie is a tight race. I love Star Wars but I grew up on Star Trek. Take your pick, I love them both. Binge watching depends on what series I have waiting on DVR. Right now I’m catching up on last season Grey’s Anatomy.

  11. My favorite space movies are Spaceballs and John Carter. For binge watching, I like the Great British Bake Off.

  12. I absolutely LOVE the movie Hidden Figures…which is about the women that got our country to the moon. I showed it to all of my history classes when we studied the Civil Rights movement this year. As we all know, behind all great men there are an even greater women! =)

  13. Babylon Five has been my firm favourite TV space series to binge watch! I have lost track of how many times we have watched it! Close second is Firefly! Pity it only went for one season.

  14. My fav is the 1953 version of war of the Worlds. Can’t go wrong with a classic….but this wasn’t an easy choice!

  15. I have to admit, I love a lot of science fiction – almost all of it – but Star Trek The Next Generation is something that I grew up with and parts of the show are deeply engraved on my memory! I was in love with Captain Picard!

  16. Star Wars – The Empire Strikes Back saw the debut of Yoda! Who doesn’t love Yoda!?!?!?!? I’m not binge watching anything currently, however, I thoroughly enjoyed binge watching both Outlander and Downton Abby. 🙂

  17. The Martian for movie and to binge watch, when one of the channels does a Star Wars marathon, I will sit and knit to it.

  18. My favorite shows to binge watch are not space related – they are Call The Midwife and Grace and Frankie. Not really an outer space genre fan, but I did enjoy Firefly – the episodes I saw at least.

  19. Star Trek IV: the Voyage Home is my ultimate favorite space movie. My favorite line is when Scotty says “there be whales here!” And of course the humpback whales save the Earth!!

  20. I have been, and always shall be, a Trekkie. Although Star Trek TOS is my favorite, the remakes with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are amazing!

  21. My favorite space movie would have to be Space Balls. I enjoy watching it and usually get a ton of knitting done.

  22. Movies: Star Wars, Galaxy Quest.

Binge watching: documentaries on Netflix. Mind of a Serial Killer got me through the knit club socks in May. will be turning to nature videos for June-Planet Earth II and Our Planet are on tap. May sneak in some Outlander- Seasons 1 & 2 are up. Have to watch nonfiction when knitting- too distracted by fiction. I’ll also see what Nova/PBS has to offer on astronomy topics.

Books- Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series. I’ll see if the library has recorded versions!

  23. Impossible to pick just one: all the versions of Star Trek, Doctor Who, Firefly/Serenity, Killjoys, Farscape, the Orville, Battlestar Galactica, the Expanse, the first 2 seasons of Dark Matter, the 3 original Star Wars movies … can you tell I like SciFi?
