I know we’re just a week into Camp Loopy Project One, but in order for us to get your supplies to you for the July project, it’s time to get your orders in! Remember – this is a virtual camp with no traveling or official signups. Just jump in and join us in the fun.
This year you get points for successfully completing each project (and 500 bonus points for completing all three), so join us for one month, or two months, or all three. You get rewarded all along the way*, and then you get to pick your rewards bonus with your points in our new Loopy Rewards Store.
Our July Camp Project celebrates Spelunking, because there have been many interesting dinosaur, fossil and mammal bones found in caves. (Interesting articles here and here). Don’t those Stalactites and Stalagmites almost look like dinosaur teeth?
Knitters/Crocheters:
- Spelunk yourself right back into the past by choosing a pattern that was published in 2014 or earlier. (We’ve started a thread on Ravelry for ideas. Click on the Patterns link at the top of that thread page to see what others are contemplating!)
- Project must use 600 yards of yarn, single knit or crocheted.
- Points for completing the July Project: 200
Sewists:
- Venture back into the past by choosing a pattern that was published in 2014 or earlier.
- Project must use 3 or more yards of fabric.
- Points for completing the July Project: 200
Camp Store Week: Wednesday June 7th through Thursday June 15th.
Discount: 15% discount available for one project’s worth of yarn or fabric for the July Project. You must leave us an order note indicating which yarn/fabric is for Camp. If you are also ordering for your child or grandchild, please indicate that in the order notes, too.
Kids Camp: We love having your kids and grandkids participate in Camp Loopy with us! The requirements and points earned are less for kids. For July, they earn 100 points and they need to use 300 yards of yarn or 1.5 yards of fabric for their projects.*
Camp Swag:
We have Camp Loopy tumblers, t-shirts (still available in S, M, L and 3XL), totes, and vintage campster totes – we also have our official Camp Loopy 2017 colorway ready for you this month. Called Prehistoric Knitting, and dyed up to match our logo by Talented Tina at Blue Moon. Available in Socks that Rock Lightweight while supplies last.
I hope you’re participating in the Camp Chat Groups on our Ravelry page. Somehow the Stegosaurus group is seriously out-talking everyone this month! Next month, we’ll be in Chat Groups by Cave Name. Check your Loopy receipt for your group assignment. (Or just jump in and join one on your own!)
We love doing Camp Loopy with you each year and are always happy to have you join us. Tag us in your Camp Instagram and Facebook photos (#camploopy2017) so we can see what you’re up to!

Important Camp Rules Reminder:
*In order to successfully complete a project and earn the points, yarn/fabric must be purchased in the amount required during Camp Store Week or later for that project. (For our July project, that means June 7th or later.) And photos of the completed project must be uploaded to our July Camp Photo Gallery no later than midnight on August 1st. (You add photos through your Loopy Account Summary Page.)
Very disappointed to see no projects for crocheters.
We count as knitters in terms of projects, same challenge and yardage requirements. =)
“Project must use 600 yards of yarn, single knit or crocheted.”
Crocheters can participate, the details are beneath the Knitters heading.
And still no mention of crocheters
Hi Karli – would love to have you jump in and share some of your favorite crochet patterns that fit the challenge! I added in ten to the thread.
Karli- you can search in Ravelry just for crochet patterns. There are way more out there than there used to be!
Disappointed it’s a week earlier to purchase yarn at a Camp discount.
I just wanted to say I’m excited to be participating in Camp Loopy ! I’m mad at myself because I have my second sock almost done but won’t make deadline! I’ll do better next month!
Do the projects have to at least 600 yards or 600 yards? I ask because there are different groups participating and I’ve been participating in the 1000+ group. Will people in the 1000+ group get more rewards points for finishing a bigger project?
Hi Laura – here’s the link to the first month’s 2019 Camp with all of the details on rewards and challenges: https://blog.theloopyewe.com/2019/05/camp-loopy-2019
Thank you. I was confused because the messaging above kept mentioning 600 yards and not the full scope of the challenge.
In 2017, part of the challenge was to do different yardage amounts each month. We changed that to picking yardage (400-1000) in 2018!
