Camp Loopy 2019!

It’s here – Camp Loopy 2019!! We always love having you camp alongside us in the summertime (virtually. Although in-person camping might be fun, too. Or … nah. Let’s keep it virtual. I like my bed.)

This year, which is the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong’s moon walk, we’re celebrating with Loopy Space Camp! We have fun activities planned around our theme this summer, and look forward to you joining in with us. (Do note that Loopy’s spaceship is a camper. Because, camping.)

Camp Loopy 2019

What is Camp Loopy? It’s a program where you make monthly projects according to challenges and you earn points for getting them done. Kind of like craft time at summer camp – only better!

There is no fee to join, and you can participate for one month, two months, or all three months. You can also pick the size of project you want to complete each month (starting at 400 yards).

Each month we have a Camp Store Week where you can get 15% off of the yarn for the next month’s Camp project.

Camp Store Week: May 9-16 (supplies for your June Project).

To get the discount, leave us an order note and tell us which yarn will be used in your June project and we’ll apply the discount on our end.

(If you are going for free shipping in the U.S., please make sure the discount won’t take your order below the $100 level or the website will add the postage cost back onto your order.)

Camp discount cannot be combined with other discounts, or used on Last Call yarn.

To earn Camp Points for June:

  • Complete the Camp Loopy Challenge for June: Since 2019 is the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong’s moon walk, pick a pattern that was published in 2019 for your first project. (If you’re on Ravelry, here is a list of patterns published in 2019.)
  • Your project needs to fit in one of these categories: 400-599 yards, 600-799 yards, 800-999 yards, or 1000+ yards. If you’d like to join in on our Ravelry Camp Loopy groups, you’ll join the group that correlates to the yardage on your project.
  • Your June project supplies need to be purchased from The Loopy Ewe May 9, 2019 or later. (If you ordered our Camp Kit, those can be used for your June project.) Your June project needs to be knit or crocheted between June 1 and June 30. The full yardage must be used in one single project, singly knit (yarn not held double).
  • You must upload a photo of your completed June project to our Loopy Camp Gallery by July 1. In your photo notes, please notate the yardage category that you completed (400, 600, 800, 1000+) and the pattern name.

Reward: Loopy Reward Store Points

You’re eligible to earn points for one project per month.

A 400-599 yard project will earn you 100 pts.
A 600-799 yard project will earn you 200 pts.
A 800-999 yard project will earn you 400 pts.
A 1000+ yard project will earn you 500 pts.

If you complete a different Camp project in all three months, following the Camp requirements, you’ll also get end-of-the-summer bonus points for completing the Triple Space Challenge!

Triple 400-599 yd. projects = 300 additional bonus pts.
Triple 600-799 yd. projects = 450 additional bonus pts.
Triple 800-999 yd. projects = 600 additionalbonus pts.
Triple 1000+ yd. projects = 750 additional bonus pts.

If you do a mix of different yardages in all three projects, we will figure the appropriate bonus points for you individually.

Loopy Kids Version

We would love for your kids/grandkids/nieces/nephews/neighbor kids to join in on the Loopy Camp fun again this summer. They can choose to do half the yardage requirements (their categories: 200-299, 300-399, 400-999, 500+) and will receive half the points for successful completion. Please help them make their own Loopy Account so we can track their purchases, photos and points.

We have Camp t-shirts available for you! And all Camp orders will receive a free 2019 Camp Pin, while supplies last.F

For the Sewists & Quilters:

We are continuing our Loopy Monthly Sewing Challenges for our sewists and quilters this summer.

June Challenge: complete the May Sewing Kit Project should be done between June 1st – 30th, with a photo of the completed project uploaded to the Loopy Monthly Fabric Challenge Gallery by July 1, and we’ll award 50 points for completion!

If you missed out on the Monday Update this week – be sure to check out our May Scissors, May Knit Kit (more combos coming soon), May Sewing Kit, plus Prim Putford, Prim Owl, and Prim Roly Poly. Our May Needle Minders sold out, but we will have a new design the first Monday in June, along with June Scissors!

Pop on over to our group on Ravelry and let the Camp Loopy 2019 chatter begin!

  1. Is the sewing kit the only Camp option for sewists? Or will the sewing and quilting challenge in a separate blog post? I was hoping to participate this year!!!

    1. Hi Laura – we’re doing the monthly challenge for the sewists this year. Each month’s challenge will be different and we’ll include it in the blog post about each Camp Store Week!

  2. I really do enjoy Camp Loopy every summer and I have a little bit of an idea of all the planning that goes into each summer camp session.

This year the theme is spot on for me and all the other space geeks.

Thank you for all you do for us “Loopy Groupies”.

  3. I am excited to do the June project
Looking forward to my yarn with Cashmere!
    Thanks for the Camp fun!

  4. Oh no! Just got my email this evening and already no XL t-shirts. Any chance of more coming in?

  5. Did you mean to exclude crochet patterns from the link? No worries if you did, I’m just trying to plan accordingly. Thanks from a Kansas Loopy!

  6. One of the suggested patterns is a dish towel that uses 100 yd. Is it possible to do a set to reach the 400 yd minimum?

  7. I just have to write you a note, Sheri, and let you know how amazing it was to visit your shop. I was visiting from VA…my sister lives in Loveland. I’m 69 and she’s 66. We JUST found each other through DNA on Ancestry. Your shop was the first place we visited on our first ‘sister’ day together. We told your staff about why I was visiting and they could not have been nicer or more welcoming. Thank you for your shop’s amazingly good vibe! I think we may make. A knitter of my sister. And now off go figure out what I should do for Camp Loopy.

    1. Wow – what a wonderful story, Linda! How exciting to find a new sister. And we’re honored that you both included The Loopy Ewe in your first sister day. I hope there are many more lovely sister days in the future! (And I hope she decides to be a knitter!)

  8. Can I be added to the camp loopy email list, please? Thanks.
The first time, I’m hearing of camp loopy for this year was the email sent out on Tuesday 5/14.
but this gives us only 48 hours to find a pattern, plan a project, and purchase yarn during camp store week.

  9. I love Camp Loopy and have done it every year. But I really, really love the sewing camp so I’m a little sad it so different this year
