Outlander Loopy (and a new recipe!)

Loopy and Diana GabaldonAre you one of the kajillion people watching the Outlander series? Well, did you know that Loopy once dressed up in a kilt to meet the author of the Outlander books, Diana Gabaldon? It’s true. One of our Loopy customers sent us this picture several years ago, having taken Loopy to a festival to meet Diana. We were way ahead of our time, weren’t we? And doesn’t Loopy look even better than Jamie in a kilt? 😉 In case you didn’t catch it on our Facebook page, we also linked to this article this week, with Outlander-inspired knitting pattern.

To send you into the weekend, I have a recipe that comes from my mother-in-law’s BFF, Ruthie. These are kind of like a cheese cookie, but savory, not sweet. Great as an appetizer, or to go along with a soup or salad dinner. They freeze well, so you can keep a batch in the freezer and just pull them out on soup night.

SONY DSCRuthie’s Cheese Crisps

2 sticks of butter (1 cup)
2 cups grated extra sharp cheddar cheese
Tabasco Sauce
2 cups flour
2 cups Rice Krispies

Blend the butter, cheese and Tabasco Sauce. Mix in the flour. Then add 2 cups of Rice Krispies, one cup at a time.

Form into balls and flatten. Bake for 15 – 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

Have a great weekend!

  1. This is a favorite recipe in my family, where they are called Firecrackers. Oddly, there are never enought left to freeze…
