Thing One: We are in the midst of our annual Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl here in Northern Colorado! If you’re local, pop in and check out two trunk shows we have going on. Thing Two: Remember last week’s Thing Two? New addition Lexi? Today’s picture is deceiving. She spent the first day with us snoozing and being snuggly and cozy as pictured here. And then starting the next day, she has been non-stop attack-and-play. HELP!! (Seriously – any suggestions for getting her to chill out a little? Or do I have to wait until she’s a year old before that happens?) She is a handful. I probably deserve that, since I’m the one who wanted her and had to really talk my husband into adding her into our household …. She is still cute, though. 🙂
Thing Three: We have Stephanie Pearl-McPhee coming for our Fall Fling Retreat (which is full), but we booked her a day early so we could invite everyone else to come hear her talk, too! I’m old school and like metal knitting needles
I use metal circulars almost exclusively, stainless steel with a sharp tip as a favorite (ChiaoGoo Red Lace = my idea of perfection). Sometimes metal dpns, but I gave up on plastic and wood long ago because they’re too “grabby”.
I LOVE metal needles with super pointy tips. The pointier, the better.
I love the feel and sound of wooden needles. But, I have a collection of needles from my grandmother, and her old metal DPNs also have a nice heft and feel.
I was a “nothing but wood” gal for longer than I should have been. Then I took a class at my LYS and they recommended a particular needle that was not wood. I bought it and it rocked my world. Now I actually have to say all 3 are my favorites – totally depending on the pattern and yarn.
Wooden needles
I have a massive collection of metal needles because they remind me of my grandmother so I buy them at EVERY yard sale I go to! I prefer to knit with wooden needles.
I really like metal needles these days.
I like metal next. I know some people don’t like the slippery-ness of them, but I love it.
My favorite are metal but I do use wood just as much because that’s what I have!
Metal circular needles are my first choice, but of course it does depend on what type of fiber you are working. Sometimes metal is just to slick.
I like the feel of wooden needles, and how they have just enough texture to keep my yarn from sliding off, but can slip it fast enough to get the job done. 2 words for people with kittens,,spray bottle,,with a good strong (and long) squirt to it. Not a wide cooling spritz – you don’t want them to think they’re at the spa!
You know, I just figured the water thing out when we tried it this week! (Our other cat, Gracie, loves the water bottle spray, but so far Lexi is offended by it. So that’s good!)

Up until last week, metal (Addi only), until I received my Darn Pretty wooden circs – they are gorgeous! Well worth the 7 month wait.

I have to say plastic because I gravitate to my old Susan Bates needles.
I love the beautiful multicolored wooden needles, but usually knit with metal circulars.
My fav has become my Knit Picks nickel interchangeable’s and I generally prefer the smoothness of metal over wood. (sjn821 on Rav)

I like wooden needles Knitter’s Pride Dreamz is my very favorite 🙂 I use mostly the circulars.

I learned to knit on metal needles, then moved on to wooden ones. Once I bought my first set of Addi Turbos, I was back to metal. Now my favorites are the Knitters Pride Karbonz. Though, there is a special place in my heart for the plastic needles with lights in the tips that my husband bought me so I could knit while we watch movies.
Sharp tipped wooden needles, straight or circ…..so much easier on my hands and I find the feel of wood comforting. How ever for double point needles for socks I prefer bamboo, end up using size 0 in them and the wood ones break like toothpicks.
Morning…Meows to Lexi…From what i know, Kittens have an extreme amount of energy…I think all you can do is hope she is a year old really fast……Hide your yarns too…Sorry, I couldn’t be more encouraging…Cuteness matters ~
My favorite Sock Yarn Knitting Needles would be,Skacel Addi Turbo 9″ and 12″ Circular Needles..I also use ChiaGoo Red Line circulars…But Addi is the best….

I started with wooden to make sure I didn’t lose any stitches but now I only knit with pointy metal needles!
I love the wooden needles…not so slippery as metal and plastic ones!
Metal!
It’s very, very close between wood and metal, but I have to award the palm to metal. (It also depends on the project — wood dpn for socks, metal for circular projects.) The bottom line, though, is good quality.
I have complete sets of the plastic needles, straight and circular and love them, but I also have wooden and metal needles. It depends on what I am working on, which needles I use.
Metal!
Needles? It depends on what I am knitting. If I need a little more “stick”, I use wood otherwise I use metal. I don’t use plastic at all.
I’m fairly new to knitting, but I like the metal ones the best.

My favorites are the ones with yarn on them and they are in my hands 😉
I mostly prefer the metal needles, especially with a pointy tip. The stitches seem to slide better for me and in my mind I can knit faster.
Wood
Wooden with sharp tips. Yarn “sticks” much better. I have more issues dropping stitches with metal needles.
Love your new kitten. SO CUTE! My current favorite needles are my red lace chiao goo. But if I’m knitting with super slippery yarn, give me bamboo!

Since I knit lace, my preference is wooden, but metal also works for me and only use interchangeable cables – easier on my wrists. Congrats on 8 years.
On Lexi, if left alone during the day, and she is causing damage, crate her. When you’re home, wake her up when she is sleeping; otherwise, ride out the kitten years.
Well, she’s not really causing damage. And most days someone is home with her at least part of the day. But yes, part of it will just be riding it out, I think!

My favorites are bamboo or other wood circulars. Metal needles cause my hands to cramp!
I prefer metal needles with very sharp points – and I will always go with circulars if that is an option.
