This is a Ketchup Catsup Catch-up day on the blog, as there are miscellaneous things I wanted to touch base on today. First of all, we have prizes to award:
1. For Loopy’s Spring Challenge, we used the Random Number Generator to pick two winners from all participants. Meredith in MA and Kristine in CO each won a $25 Loopy Ewe Gift Certificate!
2. For the blog contest about great knitting books for your library, we are sending Light and Layered Knits to Marla in CA, Up, Down, All-Around Stitch Dictionary to Stephanie in CO, The Knitter’s Curiosity Cabinet Volume One to Jane in KS, and The Knitter’s Curiosity Cabinet Volume Two to Lindsay in PA. 3. Camp Loopy – how are your first projects coming along? I really like my Summer Love Wrap, done in Universal’s Cotton Supreme. I made a sweater out of this same color once, but it was too big (and darned if that yarn does.not.shrink no matter how many times you wash it and send it through a hot dryer). I had to give it away. So I’m glad to have something else done up in this beautiful Aqua color.
4. Also regarding Camp Loopy – this Glamping on Loopy Lake colorway is one of my most favorites ever. Next, I want a sweater out of it. (Click on the photo to see how the deep lake navy and the deep woods green play together). I also saved enough skeins of the February color for a sweater. And I think the March Celebrations color would be the greatest color in the world for a t-shirt and jeans sweater. Of course Jack is Back would be a beautiful neutral sweater for blacks and browns. I also set aside a skein of it to make myself Jack Socks.
5. I had to search on Ravelry to see if there were any cute Jack Sock patterns. Maybe Jack Thermal. I did find this adorable Jack-O-Lantern, which has nothing to do with the Jack is Back colorway. But isn’t he fun? I love Alan Dart patterns.
6. I ran across the best shortcut for making s’mores, ever.
7. For those of you who email often to ask how Mocha-the-outdoor-cat is doing these days, here’s a photo from this past weekend. He still belongs to our backyard neighbors, but he spends several days a week sleeping the day away on our back deck, and popping over a few times in the evenings as he takes his neighborhood stroll. I’m pretty sure they have no idea he spends half his life at our house. We’re happy to have him around. Since that post in the link above from 12/11, not only do we put food and water out for him, but we give him a daily brushing and he loves to be picked up. Do you think that might be why he hangs around?? 🙂
8. Back to ketchup – I had homemade (restaurant-made) ketchup in Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant in Las Vegas last fall, when I was there for a yarn industry meeting. (Look – here’s a blurry picture of Beth from Lorna’s Laces, but at least you can see the amazing fries and homemade ketchup on our table.) It was the best ketchup ever. Lots & lots of ketchup (with extra salt) on my fries. It’s how I get my veggies if I’m having a burger & fries for lunch. 😉
It’s definitely ketchup with a “K”, and while my Chicago friends may give me a hard time, I love it on my hot dogs!

I do not use ketchup as a condiment on my burger or fries; however, it is an essential ingredient, along with brown sugar and soy sauce, in a tasty glaze for my meatloaf.

I put ketchup on loaded French fries. My husband puts ketchup on a little of everything. He says ketchup was invented by God. Red Gold is our favorite brand.
I don’t really care for ketchup, but it must be spelled with a k since I am a native Pittsburgher.

I put Ketchup on my hamburgers and french fries and meatloaf (when I make it with ground beef). If I am out of Thousand Island dressing and must have some I mix Ketchup with Mayo so I think I could say I put it on my salad!
I am working away on my first Camp Loopy projects and hope I finish them in time!

oh…oops. Totally missed the ketchup part. I like it on french fries. Especially McDonalds french fries. And I like it on burgers.
Ketchup goes great on onion rings. Or burgers, especially when you mix it with some mayo, horseradish mustard, and grilled Vidalia onions. Can you say yummy? Also, Julia Child’s books have a lot of good recipes for Ketchup: tomato, mushroom…
Ok, now I’m hungry.

Ketchup! Says me born and raised in Texas with a deep Southern heritage. I keep hoping my Camp Loopy pattern selections would align with Mrs. Crosby, but alas that didn’t happen for project 1 or 2. Would love to win this! Thanks for putting together such a cool drawing, Sheri!
Totally ketchup (not catsup) in our house! And it has to be Heinz Ketchup. 🙂 I love it with tater tots. And on hamburgers. Yesterday I added some to the meat mix for the fresh mozzarella-stuffed meatballs I made. They were outstanding!
Ooooh! I remember that Ketchup from when I was there. THE best meal I’ve ever had in my lfe was at GR Steak! The serving staff was wonderful to watch, almost choreographed like a dance. Favorite thing to put ketchup on, French Fries!!! Now I’m hungry too….
I use a bit if ketchup on my burger & fries, but generally don’t care for it. On the other hand, my husband loves ketchup and especially on his eggs! It’ll be interesting to see what our 14 month old thinks about it as she gets older. 🙂

French fries, definitely. I like to mix ketchup and ranch dressing in equal parts, yum!
I like Ketchup on fries and meatloaf, but I use the most ketchup in my homemade chilli, along with chilli powder, cayenne pepper and other ingredients.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t think I have ever needed to spell ketchup or catsup. I guess I would have to choose ketchup, only because it sounds more authentic to the way people say it. Also, I don’t think I have ever tried homemade ketchup, but would love to have some just to see the difference.
With a “k” and straight up for fries and mixed with other spices for meatloaf, mixed with horseradish for shrimp!
I really only use ketchup (my preferred spelling) as a base for home-made barbeque sauce.

Ketchup! I actually don’t eat ketchup except in fast food hamburgers because it takes too much effort to have it left off. I know that sounds crazy, but there really is no ketchup or mayonnaise in our refrigerator, just mustard.

French Fries! I made homemade catsup last year, it was great! I am hoping for a bumper crop of tomatoes again!

Ketchup. I like to mix it with mayo for a dipping sauce. We also like it on chicken patty sandwiches with a smidge of BBQ sauce.
My favorite thing to put ketchup on is fries. The strangest thing I like it on is scrambled eggs. My daughter likes it on mac and cheese!
