I’m back from several days in Iowa, where it is COLD COLD COLD. I grew up in Iowa. I should know how cold it is there. But apparently, I had forgotten. Snow on the ground, gray skies, and windy freezing cold weather. I went to visit my mother-in-law for her birthday. I’m lucky to have a great mother-in-law. I know not everyone likes theirs, but I love mine! We had a great time shopping, eating out, enjoying coffee, and watching movies. If you’re ever near Clinton, Iowa, try 392 Caffe on Second Avenue. Awesome coffee and hot chocolate. (So good that we went two days in a row.) 392 is the temperature at which coffee beans start to roast.
From there, I headed to Cedar Falls to visit my forever friends, Steve and Janice for a couple of days. All of you Spring Flingers know Janice and her daughter Kirstin (the cake ball maker), so I had them pose with Kirstin’s husband Alex so I could share it with you! Kirstin got married the weekend of our last Spring Fling (last April) and she and her hubby are expecting baby #1 this March. I made the baby hat and booties for her that I shared on last week’s blog. (Thanks for all of your sweater suggestions – so helpful!) Janice plans to be back for the Fall Fling this year, and I know you all will be glad to have her there again. I will, too!
Back to the cold – when I left the Des Moines airport yesterday, it was freezing and so windy. I was glad to be back to Denver, where it was a balmy 31. And happy to see my hubby, who held down the fort at home while I was gone.
In my knitting bag: I’m test knitting an upcoming Giftables pattern, have socks to finish, need to get back to my Funky Grandpa sweater, and am ready to cast on something with The Verdant Gryphon’s Bugga. I haven’t decided on the pattern yet.
On my sewing table: Reds, teals and chocolates in Fat Quarters and one yard pieces, waiting to become a coffee cup wall hanging.
What does your knitting bag or sewing table look like? Leave a comment below and one of you will win this cute “Taste of Wollmeise” bag that I brought home from Germany with me last fall! Aren’t the mini skeins adorable? (This is not something we can get to sell here, but you can buy these from Claudia’s website in Germany.) Each little skein is 30 gr. and there are 12 skeins in the zippered pouch. I’ll be sending it off to one of you next week!

My knitting bag holds a pair of Addi Turbos and some String Theory in Didgeridoo that is in the process of becoming a Hitchhiker for a wonderful coworker.
My knitting bag has 3 different sock projects , one sock on each project completed, you know how that goes once you get that first sock done the second one is kind of a chore to do! I also have all kinds of knitting odds and ends, its just like my purse, and of course, candy!
My knitting bag has Plucky Sweater and Skein Top Draw Socks. I’m knitting a pair of socks and the sweater Alight by Amy Herzog.
My knitting bag contains an almost done sweater, Sheep go Round. I also have a canilla pair of socks on the needles.
My knitting bag is nonexistent. Unless you count the recycled shopping bag my current project is living in. Anthropologie, in case you were wondering. That project would be the sweater I’m knitting for my two year old. I had high hopes it would be finished by now. So it’ll evoke my Olympic knitting project.
Which knitting bag??????? LOL! ………………. I have several!
Color affection and some building blocks samples. I’m in charge of the color affection knit along at my LYS and I’m teaching the building blocks class too.
I bought some sock yarn for both of my children for Christmas so I am working on both pair at the same time.
A mess!
Let’s see, my knitting bag right now has a vest of Mountain Colors River Twist that I’m just sewing the ends into, a Greta cardigan out of alpaca that I’m about halfway done with, and a nice smallish cowl that goes to work with me of Dream In Color Everlasting. It’s only about 1/4 done so far.
My end tale next to the couch has a gray Liz stole in progress and a box of 1/2″ hexagons for the current paper foundation pieced hexagon quilt I’m working on……
I’m working through my last two UFOs from 2013 – a lace shawl that’s 50% complete (and started after Xmas, so it hasn’t been languishing long), and a sweater that’s 1.5 sleeves away from being done!
I’m working on a baby blanked using cotton blend yarn so that’s what’s in my bag now π
I have 2 baby blankets in my knitting bag right now. π A pink one and a gray/yellow and white chevron one. All out of the Universal Cotton Supreme which I LOVE for baby blankets!!
I’m working on a lace shawl in flamingo pink for my sister-in-law (living in the fantastic yarn bowl my other sister-in-law gave me for Xmas — two of my favorite things in one, hand-thrown pottery & yarn!) & a pair of tornado blue socks for myself. There’s a cardigan that needs to be seamed together, & a lace shawl that needs to be blocked. On my sewing table I have the pieces cut out for a fun pink bicycle backpack in linen-cotton, & sheep fabric to make a new knitting bag.
I’m one sleeve shy of finishing a sweater but am taking a short break to knit a scarf for my daughter. Almost time for spring knitting!
In my knitting bag you will find “Dream in Color” Everlasting in Daylily and Gilt for a mystery KAL I’m doing with Laura Nelkin of Craftsy Fame.
My knitting bag is full of cotton yarn. I’m trying to improve my crochet skills so have been making dish cloths in different patterns. Maybe that makes it a crocheting bag?
More yarn than my knitting bag can hold, so I’m knee deep in wool because I’m in Iowa!
My poor knitting bag has a partially finished sweater, a partially finished shawl, and half of a sock. I just need some uninterrupted knitting time, and a few good movies to finish some things. π
My sewing table is fullof knitting projects and my embroidery machine. Also the cat is always there.
My friend just help me make my dream cutting table! We finished it today. Tomorrow I’ll be making a project bag for my knitting group swapee, some fabric boxes for the new cutting table’s shelves, and a few other things.
As for knitting? Man, I’m so far behind on that, I think I’ll take up a new hobby. Learning to weave this year!
Next week, I’ll be knitting thrummed mittens and a hat for my brother, and I may start a sweater (or two).
AHHHH Let me see—- Well safe to say it should be declared a disaster area right now. I have the almost completed second Clarabella Bag — only the elastic casing pieces to sew in place and put the elastic in. A pile of Downton Abbey prints that will be cut to make another Clarabella Bag. Ahhhhh another small pile of cat prints to make a couple of project bags—- There’s more but I think you get the picture!
My knitting bag is over-flowing! I am working on designing a set of four Christmas stockings, and I’m knitting the first one now. I’m also finishing a pair of mittens for my daughter. She got a beautiful silvery gray cowl from me for Christmas, and there was a matching mitten on the tree with an IOU tucked inside for the second mitten. I am also working on kids’ mittens for a community service project that my knitting group is organizing for next fall. So much knitting…so little time!
A mostly finished hat called Jango, and the dark and stormy cardigan. A baby blanket is about to renter the mix for my cousin.
My knitting bag (aka whatever bag I can carry… purse/swim/tote… to whatever I have going on that day or daughter’s swim meet) can hold a thing or two… right now I’m finishing up my niece’s baby blanket, a cowl for myself (I hope I can keep it… I never get to knit anything for myself), and a mug cozy for my sister. I try to knit as often as possible…. why doesn’t your stuff unpack itself when you move? π
I currently have two bags with ongoing projects…
1. Dreamy Valentine KAL shawl
2. Downton Abby MKAL shawl
My project table is laden with stitch markers and measuring tape and pencils…all to knit a better project my dear! (smile)
Soon there will be another project bag (or two) with other WIPs…this is a long cold winter…the Polar Vortex is expected back again next week here in Chiicago! Burrrrrr!
Nuvem, and loving ut. I have about 5″ done and a LONG way to go!
Wow, it took me a long time to scroll down to the bottom of this list !, my knitting bag has a helmet hat from Vogue knitting and a pair of fingerless gloves to match and with enough yarn left to make a neck warmer that is almost finished. I’m ready to start a new project so thank you for a chance to win this yarn.
I’m working on a mitten/hat (and maybe scarf if I have enough) set of some hand spun yarn a dear friend gave me a few years ago.
My knitting bag has a purple Fibonacci scarf, just and mitts set…my sewing table us covered with project bags that I’m making in preparation for reopening my Etsy shop. π
My bag has 9 projects to be blocked (I hate blocking), the first of a pair of socks, the second of a pair of fingerless mitts, a mystery shawl for which I can no longer find the pattern (Anyone do the summer solstice mystery KAL?) and the arm of a sweater I started over a year ago!
Oh My Goodness!!! I am shocked to see myself write this…my knitting nook/table has only one project on it at the moment!!!!…why? (that is so not me!!!) I had to clean up to get ready for Ravelinics!!! EVENT PROJECTS. MUST. HAVE. SPACE. lol π
My knitting bag is too full…I have two shawls,a pair of socks, a hat , a doll sweater and parts for a little cotton rabbit. All WIPs.
Sigh….but I did finish my fabric challenge. I made a purse, a clutch bag and a project bag all from the short stack and yd. of fabric.
My knitting bag (a free tote from Sally’s Beauty Supply a few years back), is filled with my current project bag (handmade from fat quarters), my interchangeable needles bag, my secondary project bag (also sewn by me), and a bunch of detritus! I really need to clear out the old patterns, newspapers, and magazines lurking at the bottom! I’m currently working on three Rose City Yarn Crawl MKAL Shawlette, which is fun. My sewing table hasn’t been used since I gave my craft room to my English Angora house bunny over a year ago.
(Most of) My knitting bag(s) contains socks! I’m a hopelessly addicted sock knitter and more than half my sock yarn came from The Loopy Ewe!
My knitting bag is full of knitting needles, tools needed for knitting, crochet hooks when I need them to finish a project or pick up a dropped stitch, scissors, needle sizer, markers, cable needles, and everything else one could want to knit a project. Then there are my project bags and I won’t say how many of those I have going. Way too many!
I’m not really organized enough to have a knitting bag. WIPs end up either on the coffee table or on the back of the sofa. Currently it’s a mess, one sweater in progress, one recently finished needs-the-ends-woven-in pair of socks and a bunch of yarn remnants on the coffee table. Another sweater in progress, Barbara Walker’s a Treasury of Knitting Patterns and a stitch pattern swatch for another sweater-to-be on the back of the sofa. I think I need to tidy up this weekend.
I have multiple knitting bags, depending on what I feel like working on. Right now I have a sock knitting bag with a partially knitted sock from Interweave’s OpArt sock book (pattern is Fibonacci). Another bag is my shawl bag, for times I know I’ll be able to take the time to work on something that needs concentration like lace. And I have my sock yarn blankie bag, that also has a sock yarn granny square afghan I’m making from the scraps that are too short for a whole little mitered square. Absolutely nothing goes to waste with socks! That bag usually also has my Zentangle kit and travels back and forth with me to dialysis and doctor appointments.
And I have a makeup bag that holds all my notions that I just move from bag to bag.
Which knitting bag? I’ve got the song of the sea pattern in one, just waiting for some yarn from the loopy ewe. I’ve got an advent scarf from boo knits in one, I’m sure that will be done in time for next Christmas. I’ve got 12 bags of sock yarn and a pattern in each. On the first of each month I grab one without looking and make a pair of socks…. And then….. (I guess I won’t bore you with any more details!
My knitting bag currently has a shawl project and a pair socks. This Sunday my DS and DIL are having a baby gender reveal party so once I know the gender of our first grandchild I’ll have even more projects in my knitting bag and some quilts to make. I’m really eyeing the giraffe crossing fabric by Riley Blake—so cute!
I had to hide all my knitting in my closet. Doctor told me to rest my hand for at least 6 weeks. I do have two pairs of socks to finish, on hat to tink back and make a little shorter, and a sweater that i started 4 days before doctor benched me. Can’t wait to start knitting again.
I can’t even find my desk. It is buried somewhere under way too much yarn. It’s kind of embarrassing. I can find my knitting bag that has a pair of yellow socks in it.
Just the contents of ONE knitting bag? I have baby booties (for my new grand daughter), a hat for me, a cowl, a Cancan shawl, an Iron Maiden wrap, 2 or 3 scarves and a plastic bag full of supplies I call my “kit”. All in several bags cause it won’t fit in one!
In my beautiful tangerine Namaste bag that I purchased from you is a slowly swirling Swirl Jacket in some beautiful black/teal/lime Silk Garden. It is strikinging in an orange bag!
Balls in my knitting back- toys for a scrappy 18 month old!
My current project bag has a pair of Northman mittens for myself. I’ve made several pairs for others, but this my first pair for me. (Warmest mittens ever as they are doubled). When I’m done with these, I’m going to return to mt sweater project that I’ve put off until it got really, really cold outside–like now!
My knitting bag is filled with a sweater project that just needs a sleeve completed, a bag with 4 oz of fluffy angora for spinning, a sock project (or two), my zippered knitting accessories bag, and a ziplock bag with circular needles π
My knitting bag is full of Jamieson’s Shetland DK as I work on my first fair isle sweater vest!
My knitting bag is a canvas tote with an owl on it. It has a couple patterns in it, at least 2 sets of dpns, a couple skeins of yarn, and my Nancy’s KnitKnacks notions case.
