It’s always fun to see our Loopy Ewe Solid Series in print, and we have two more to share with you. In the newest Interweave Crochet Accessories magazine that just came out, our yarn was featured in the Pleiades Shawl, a fun star-inspired shawl that drapes around your shoulders. This one was done in Eggplant, Barn Red and Smoke. (Photos by Harper Point Photography.)
I received a copy of Carol Sulcoski’s new Sock Yarn Studio book in the mail, and it’s a must-have. So many great designs from some of your favorite top designers, including Wendy Johnson, Veronik Avery, Franklin Habit, Hunter Hammersen, and more. It starts out with great sock-knitting information from Carol (avoiding pooling, repeats with self-patterning and multicolor yarn, using sock patterns for other projects, etc.). Then you get to the gorgeous patterns. You’ll find cowls, gloves, scarves, hats, shawls, sweaters, an adorable baby cardigan, and more. Of course my favorite pattern in the book is the one that Wendy designed with our Solid Series, called Kitteh Mittens. She used 1 skein each of Coffee and Cerulean.
Would you like to make a pair? Leave a comment below and we’ll use the random number generator to pick someone to win the book and your choice of 2 skeins of The Loopy Ewe Solid Series. (Hey – wouldn’t those mittens be cute in orange and black for Halloween trick-or-treating? Next year.)
We also have a winner from last week’s Halloween day blog contest. Congratulations to Linda in Illinois, whose favorite go-to food or drink on cold days is hot mulled apple cider. Yum!
Speaking of our Loopy Ewe Solid Series, the winder has been going nonstop today, working on more Loopy Cake sets for you. (More Steampunk, but also more in the series. I told you we were having too much fun coming up with themes!)

Would love the book – the mittens look like lots of fun, especially for a cat lover!
Great mittens!
Love the mittens, and the book would be a terrific bonus. Thanks.
I know the perfect little cat lover who would looove those mittens!!
Would love the book and yarn. Thanks for the offer.
Those mittens are so cute!
I love it when it’s a yarn I love!
Love to knit these mittens. Haven’t done much with two colors of yarn.
Kitteh Mittens, yes, love the orange and black idea, or pink and white, or … such a great pattern, and I’m sure great yarns/book.
I don’t have a cat, but at work there is an orange striped cat. He has trained the staff to let him in and out the door. The door has windows to the floor on both sides. I watch for him to be sitting in the window, by the door, when he wants back in. When he knows that you have seen him he will stand up on his hind legs, paws on the window, saying hurry up it’s cold out here. Then he runs quickly by me when the door is opened. His name is Boomer but I think of him as Butterscotch. A book with cat mittens would be lovely.
Cute mittens. Book will be on my wish list.
Those mittens are so cute, I would love to make them. We haven’t had a cat for over 25 years (dogs seem to have been the pets around here for the last 22 years), but I have ‘niece’ and ‘nephew’ kitties to visit in TX.
My kitteh says these should be made in red with black kittehs like her.
Wow! Those mittens would be really fun to knit up. Pick me, pick me!
Would love to make a pair of kitteh mittens so that my 23 year old cat would have feline company!
Would love these! Crossing fingers……that could be trapped in mittens….
I’m curious to know what lovely piano music you were listening to! And, of course, I’d love to knit myself a new pair of mittens . . . if I ever find spare time again! 🙂
I love sock yarn. What a great way to use some of my stash.
What a great pattern! I’d like to see them knit in black and white, to go with the two black/white stray cats who have adopted me — named “Mo” and “Stash”. They’ve been with me for 2 1/2 years, and provide great entertanment for the three small dogs I rescued.
I have heard great things about the “Sock” book. Are you going to have other copies for ordering Sheri? All of the Loopy yarn looks spectacular! I am definitely going to need to try some soon! Thanks for having another contest. The Loopy rocks! :).
Never enough sock yarn patterns! Looks like a great book.
The mittens would make a great gift for my friend who just adopted a pair of Russian Blue kittens
I think I remember seeing something about the mittens on Wendy’s blog. Didn’t win them that time; maybe this is my time!
Sounds like a great book. Would love to have it. I make a lot of socks from the toe up.
would love this book since I make a lot of socks..
Being a cat lover I would love to make these mittens with Loopy Ewe Solid Series yarn. We just adopted a Calico kitten we’ve named Lucy. She’s a great addition to our other cats Indy (a Calico) and Caroline (a Tortie).
I would definitely like to make a pair of the Kitten mittens!
Would love to make these mittens my first colorwork project! How fun they are!!
Thanks for doing the giveaway…..I’d love to win!
I would love to make some kitten mittens, they are so cute! Do you think my dog would be jealous?
oh what a super fun looking knit to do… lol, i so need one right now. Daughter would have them gifted to her
The mittens would look great in black & orange for Halloween next year. The arched backs of the kittens would fit right in with the Halloween cats.
Mittens! I love making mittens. Mittens in two colors is even better! Thank you for sponsoring the giveaway.
I would love to own this book—I have lots of sock yarn and I’m always looking for more patterns to knit it up.
My sister in law is crazy for cats and loves the brown/blue combination in clothing. I would have to knit the exact pair shown if I won and I know she would be delighted.
No cats allowed at our house but I’m sure these would be fine!
this is a goal of mine to learn to knit 2 colors like these mittens
My daughter loves cats and I love to knit with fingering weight yarn!
You are so right – orange and black cats for Halloween would be great.
I love these mittens and the colors…I have trouble using 2 colors so even if I don’t win I’m gonna grab the book…….
I’m thinking dark gray kittys on a pale blue background. My cat would agree.
Those are absolutely adorable!
Kittehs, kittehs, kittehs!!! Bring em on!!!
Is there a variegated color for calicos :>)????
My daughter would love those mittens! And I would love a chance to win that book!
