Camping this Summer!

Camp-loopy-2012As most of you know, we’re in our second year of Camp Loopy around here, and having a lot of fun with it this summer! Each month the campers are challenged with a new project and today is the day that Project Two needs to be finished and Project Three can be started. It has been great to see all of the photos that have been coming in. And on that note – it’s time to vote for your favorite project from the first month of Camp. You’ll find 768 photos in the Project One Gallery, and we need to award one the “Reader’s Choice” award. YOU are responsible for that! Please take a look through the gallery and email your favorite choice to We’ll give it a week or so for voting and will announce the winners soon.

To go along with your camp knitting, I have a new s’mores recipe for you today. We tried it out a couple of weeks ago, and it’s wonderful.

S’Mores-Dessert-PizzaS’Mores Dessert Pizza

1 tube of Pillsbury Sugar Cookie
Slice and Bake dough
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup rolled oats
2 Tbl. softened butter
1/4 cup flour
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips

Cut the cookie dough into slices and then pat them out on a pizza pan or baking stone, so that it becomes one big cookie base.

S’Mores-Dessert-PizzaMix the brown sugar, oats, butter and flour together and sprinkle this over the cookie crust.

Sprinkle chocolate chips over the crumb mix.

Bake at 375 degrees for 5 minutes. Top with marshmallows and then bake for 10 more minutes, or until marshmallows are golden brown.

I’ll be knitting and watching the Opening Ceremonies tonight. How about you?

  1. It’s so wonderful to reach a goal when we set our minds to it. So…. why do we have so many WIP???

I’ve been knitting like a lunatic to finish. I’m at work now but I only have a few rows to go then I’ll be finished. Two 800 yards projects in two months. How on earth did I do that with 3 little kids? Have a great weekend everyone

  2. No graham crackers in this one! I guess they figure the brown sugar/butter/oats takes the place of the graham crackers. I guarantee you won’t miss them!

  3. I will be casting on at 3pm CST and then tonight watching the opening ceremonies. The S’mores pizza looks wonderful! Must try it!

  4. I’ll be knitting and watching! Project 3 is ready to cast on.

On a high note, late last night I bound off on Project 2, blocked it this morning, and will post photos when it’s dry. Love it, and yes I am very tired (two very late nights) and relieved to have it done.

    On to Project 3!

  5. I am almost done my sweater. I just have ends to weave in (yeah, I pushed it to the last minute). Whew! I’ll be glad to start project 3 during the opening ceremonies tonight.

  6. I will be casting on and visiting with my DS who is leaving Sunday to go to Germany for post grad studies.. He is a classical guitarist and much more interesting (to me, of course) than the Olympics. But once he’s gone it’s gonna be needles, yarn and TV! My kids would scream in protest if I made that pizza, then eat the whole thing!

(Phew, I am so glad to be done with project 2)

  7. That looks very yummy! I’d like to have seen the Olympics this evening, but not having television makes that a challenge 😛 I’m hoping I can watch some of it at my family’s house from time to time.

  8. i knit the last little bit, bound off, and seamed up during the opening ceremonies, during the S’s, i think! onward with project 3! v

  9. Sheri, I just uploaded my project 2 picture to the gallery but put in the description that it was for Project 3 (oops)! Is there a way that can be edited?

  10. I just turned my oven on in 90+ heat and 95% humidity to make this one, and my husband’s been lurking in the kitchen like a small child, waiting for them to come out of the oven! Happy Camp Session 3!

  11. Holy moly – how do we pick one project as a favorite? There are so many GREAT projects that were done. . .
