A Big Empty Space

Right now, this is a big (but brand new) empty space, approx. 4500 sq. ft. in size. No walls, no floors, no ceilings. But in 5-6 weeks, this space will have walls, flooring, ceiling, and will be filled with an overwhelming burst of color and fiber. Take a peek at the new Colorado Loopy Ewe Space!

What a long process this has been. We found this space back in August, so you can imagine the negotiations and back-and-forth that has gone on during this time, since we just last week signed off on the final papers. We toured a lot of options, and this was our first choice. It’s in a wonderful area (Front Range Village on Harmony Rd., for those of you familiar with that) and there is a Dazbog coffee right across the street. 🙂

The space is U-shaped and the photos are a bit deceiving. In fact, we took these photos and over a period of the next week, I had convinced myself that it was too small, as I looked at the photos over and over. We went back over there and I was reminded of how big it is in person and the photos don’t show it. There is plenty of room in there! (I made WH stand there to give it a little perspective.) So now we’ll watch as the construction people do the build out and we’ll see our space as it comes together just the way we envision it. I’ll look forward to sharing the finished space with you after Thanksgiving.

On another note – I didn’t have to wait long for the snow to re-appear again. (As predicted, it was in the 50’s last weekend and the first snowfall melted.) They predicted 4-8″ yesterday and then changed it to 10″ last night. I’m used to the weather people saying “could be up to 8″ of snow overnight” and you wake up and there is an inch on the ground in the morning. Such a bummer. It’s beautiful outside this morning – all fresh and white – and it’s still coming down slowly. We’ll lose it again this weekend as it heads back into the 50’s. I have to say, I kind of like this routine. Pretty snow mid-week, warmer temperatures on the weekend. I hope this keeps up.

  1. Wow! It’s so hard to tell when there’s nothing in a space, you’re right. For comparison. how big is the current Loopy space? This looks substantially larger.

  2. How fantastic and what a journey? I think it would be amazing to be looking at space and imagining how it is going to look then seeing the end product and and and and…

I am so excited to see all the progress reports and pics… keep ’em comin’

    Congratulations…

  3. Beautiful new space……….wow……..are you closing the other store? I agree with Pam….TLE is definitely making me broke, but since I have no willpower it is all on me, LOL. I know we are all hooked on TLE because the yarns are simply georgeous and Sheri and The Elves are perfection. Good Luck on the new space and I really look forward to seeing it come together. Thankyou so much for keeping us all up-to-date.

  4. Congratulations on the new space. Can’t wait to see the after pictures, and remember, as with Loopy Central in St. Louis, I hope my bed is in a good spot 🙂

  5. Your new space has so much potential! I can just imagine what it will look like in just a couple short months. I’m sure you’re both stressed and excited at such a prospect! It’ll be lovely when you can open it and share the Loopy world with everyone in your new area 🙂 Also, enjoy the beautiful snow! Your deck is quite picturesque!

  6. Congratulations, Sheri! So glad this has worked out well for you. Can’t wait to see the finished LE Colorado!

  7. How exciting. I live near Fort Collins. I know just where you will be, I drive by there often.

You are fortunate to have the large evergreen trees. They can handle the heavy snow
without breaking branches. We are still picking up branches from last week’s storm.

  8. How cool you are across from the Hilton Garden Inn where we usually stay. I can leave DH and wander the yarn store. Yea! Just think this used to be a cattle farm at one time. Its amazing how this area has grown through the years. 🙂

  9. I am so excited for you and TLE! The photos look great and I will look forward to the transformation! What fun you have ahead of you, besides the hard work. I have never lived in an area where it snows! I mean we do get a little snow in Texas- but not like you. If we want the weather to change- it does. I am thrilled all is working out for you!

  10. Beautiful snow! And I bet they know how to plow it too! Have fun getting the new space ready! It will be fun decorating and getting the yarn in all the new spots! Hoping for a Loopy Webcam when it’s all done! 🙂 congratulations on signing the lease!

  11. I know just where you are!! I was there over Labor Day – and there is a Five Guys near you, too!! You have chosen a fantastic location!! My kids in Cheyenne make monthly trips to Ft Collins for Vitamin Cottage (Natural Grocers), & thrift stores. So now you will be on the list when we go to visit!! Congrats! Can’t wait!

  12. excited to see the “befores” so i can ooh and aah at the “afters” to come – sorry to say i am not at all thrilled with the prospect of snow, though, having just had a nasty experience with the halloween storm here on the east coast! Keep us posted can’t wait to see – and best of luck in the new “digs”

  13. It looks like you’re not too far off I25, which makes me happy! I just googled it and Loopy is just a little over an hour from my house. I think you’ll be seeing me fairly often. I can’t wait to see the space in person.

  14. How exciting all of this is for you…Looking forward to seeing pictures after it is all set up! Wish I lived closer..

  15. OMG!!! Your place is just a couple of miles from my house and the Dazbog of which you speak is where my knit group meets on Tuesday nights!! I’m giddy! My good gracious, what a huge space!

  16. Can’t wait to see the new Loopy space after it’s been Sheri-fied. You must be lying awake nights arranging everything in your mind. So exciting!

  17. The new space looks amazing!!! Can’t wait to see it filled with pretty yarn :). This is why TLE keeps me broke ;)=

  18. Holy space Batman!!! That is huge. I currently live in China, but have family in the St. Louis area. Have visited the LE on several visits. We will miss you in St. Louis. What a great opportunity for you. When I move back to the states it means….ROAD TRIP!!!!

  19. So, does this mean that once you have the space remodeled that it is open for regular retail? Not just mailing service?

  20. Congratulations, Sheri!! Fort Collins already has great yarn shops, so this is just one more reason to make the trek up from Castle Rock!

  21. Congratulations! It will be a great place to visit when we are in the area. Great location!

One of the reasons we are thinking of moving to that area of Colorado is the snow that comes down heavy and does not stick around. I understand why you enjoy it.

  22. How exciting for you Sheri! I can’t wait to watch the transformation of space take place in the coming weeks!!

We’re still waiting for our first snow fall, which is supposed to happen on Saturday! Woo hoo!

  23. The space looks wonderful! What great light for the elves to work in! I would say you can keep the snow, but it sounds like we may get a bit this weekend in our part of the woods,
    Karen

  24. The Colorado Loopy Ewe wil be wonderfully close to my house! It will be delightful to see the colors in person when I am contemplating a project. You are a great addition to the knitting scene in Fort Collins.

I must add that we are grateful for the snow (even if it did break alot of branches and make alot of work) after last winter with almost no snow at all!

  25. My DH has been mentioning for some time that he would like to go back to Wyoming on vacation. I can add two visits to Colorado TLE (going AND coming back) to the trip!!
Congratulations, Sheri, on your beautiful new space!! Can’t wait to see the progress pictures!! I’m looking forward to the same wonderful service in Colorado that I have gotten from your Elves in St. Louis!

  26. How exciting! I can shop for yarn at TLE, then wander down to Charming Charlie and really make my wallet scream. I can’t wait for you to open!

  27. Oh, the new space is going to be great! Can’t wait to see it full of color! And I’m with you: bring on the snow!
