Loopy Elf Donna got a new puppy named Lucy. Is she not the cutest thing? She had just been to the vet, so she was exhausted from her big morning out.
She posed:
She checked out Loopy:
And then she zonked out, fast asleep.
Needless to say, all work of any kind stopped while Lucy was visiting. We all stood around and watched her sleep and talked about how darned cute she is.
So this month’s contest question is: What distracts you at work? Whether you work in the house or out of the house, I know there are things that pull you away from what you are intending to do. (Ravelry? I’m talking about you.) What distracts you?
Leave your answer in the comments and we will randomly draw names of winners next week. The prize – $25 Loopy Ewe Gift Certificates, so that you can splurge on some new yarn!
(Speaking of contests, have you clicked “like” to join our Loopy Ewe group on Facebook? We hold 24 Hour Quick Quizzes over there from time to time, with Loopy Ewe Gift Certificates for prizes. Don’t miss out!)

Nothing distracts me at work… I am 100% dedicated ALL the time!
(Boss… are you reading this???!!!??)
Ravelry is definitely my biggest distraction of all time! It seems like if I touch my computer I get sucked into Ravelry.
What distracts me at work is blogs. Like this one.
The guys that I work with sometimes regress and start acting like they’re still in Jr. high. When it gets really bad I start handing out penalties. Getting a “red card” has become something of a badge of honor.
Don’t they ever grow up? Even just a little?
My dogs are my number one distraction at work (work from home), so it’s funny that you posted that Lucy was your distraction that day! 😀
Do you know how tough it is to take care of people and hope for a Wollmeise sneak up at the same time?!?
Me: I’m sorry…how severe did you say your pain is?
Patient: It’s unbearable
Me: Hold on…let me see if Lacegarn is up…
Patient: My left arm just fell off.
Me: Score! Got some Lacegarn! Yaaaa hoo!
Patient: Call 911!!!
Me: I’m sorry…did you say something?
OK, so that doesn’t really happen! Just sayin’…
Ravelry. And Ravelry. And more Ravelry.
Anything knitting! At times (many times), I’m not very focused unless it’s sticks and yarn.
1. Reading Sheri’s blog!
2. finding recipes on Kailyn’s Kitchen blog
3. shopping for shoes online (today’s find: http://www.dmusastore.com/p-2964-tiana.aspx)
4. checking ravelry and TLE to see if any sock club news or stuff is up,
5. eating chocolate that I keep in my desk.
Now that I’ve got all of that done, it’s time to go to the gym.
Labs are the best!
The thought of not being able to get on the internet and do my thing distracts me at work. I do ahave a LITTLE down time and wish they would let me do my thing instead of twidding my thumbs. I would be more relaxed and then more productive.
Reading knitting blogs!!!
I can’t think of anything that doesn’t have the potential to distract me. I’ll be looking for info on Saturn’s Rings and wind up buying myself jewelry. I’ll be trying to find out how to make Kefir and spend half an hour reading gossip about Mr. Sutherland, whom I really don’t even care about. Chrismas garland turns into Judy Garland, Squash recipes turns into the rules for Squash – did you know the balls are color coded based on their speed and bounciness? I’d be orange for speed (super slow) but blue for bouncing all over the place!
Our office is dog-friendly, so there is always a furry face (including the one I take to work every day) to keep me entertained and distracted!
My dogs distract me when I work at home. They come in to my study and stare at me until I take some time to play with them. But I must say, my favorite distraction is getting a phone call from my son, who is away at college. I’ll drop everything to talk to him!
What distracts me at work? Reading your blog!!! But it sure is a good break 🙂
The internet, my lunch hour knitting project (just one more row), food, co-workers, coffee, watching people out the window . . . .
Ravelry, of course, and Sudoku, and my friend Maddie who keeps inviting me over to do fun things like knit or decorate shape cookies
Blogs and Ravelry – both very distracting!!
What distracts me at work? Today the answer is:
Lucy …OMG she has the cuteness going on!
The internet, or texting (yeah, I know… oops!). I have to be very careful.
Awww, Lucy is adorable. Ravelry definitely distracts me.
Ravelry, definately Ravelry. Having internet access is a bad bad thing.
Ravelry for sure. xkcd.com and Regretsy.com also get a lot of time. And all the blogs I follow get time too. I swear I still get work done though. 🙂
Seems to be a common response: Ravelry and knitting!
I check Ravelry alot for distraction or just to fill space when I’m waiting for the printer to behave…or the phone to ring…
Totallly distracted by Ravelry, The Loopy Ewe website, and anything else knitting related!
Ravelry…Bejeweled…blogs. Good thing I work nights and there is no supervisor looking over my shoulder!
Ravelry, Facebook, sports, catching up on the news, and snacks.
CUTEST PUPPY EVER!
Also, everything distracts me at work. Ravelry and knitting mostly, but if i decide to try to be good and not do those things, I get bored, and then I draw. And then drawing distracts me…
Ravelry, the updates from TLE, and emails!!
What distracts me most is playing Words With Friends on my i-Touch. I can be working on any project imaginable and all of a sudden I am thinking of a word that will fit on the scoreboard and how many points I need to beat my opponent.
Ravelry and knitting blogs!
Usually my distractions are the internet & all the fun places it takes me, my big stinky dog, audio books, etc. Today my major distraction & PITA has been my dryer that isn’t drying & my towels that aren’t dry.
Ravelry for sure, and facebook.
I think I may be easily distractable as loads of stuff come to mind. Just watching the way the leaves are bursting forth on my weeping silver birch tree can make me stop, it’s Spring here. The way my cats sleep, they seem to hold the key to total relaxation and I’m trying to emulate it. Knitting in general, magazines, yarn, ideas, day dreaming about projects. Watching our garden dragonfly buzz around, trying to own the front yard and boss all other insects in it. Enjoying the sound of the water features.
See? Attention span of a mouse which probably explains my list of knitting stuff to be done!
Your blog,of course!!
Lucy is sooo cute!
Well, aside from the internet, lol, fibery goodness as well as things to be done aside from housekeeping. I work from home and find time to do many things aside from housework. I swear i got more done when i worked outside the home… but i really enjoy my schedule now!
Awwww! Lucy is adorable!
Twitter & Ravelry are my biggest time sucks. 😉
What distracts me at work is reading email and reading online discussions. Sure do wish that I still had a cat to walk over my computer keyboard when hungry!
There is not much on this earth that is cuter than a lab pup. A sleepy lab pup.
Oooh I wouldn’t dare get on Rav or facebook or anything like that while working. I lose enough time to it already.
Work is fairly distraction free for me except when I am working at home. Then all bets are off. The dog is so darn cute and she’ll sometimes come up and insist on getting attention. Kinda like she is now. I have about two more seconds and then she’ll be sticking her nose under my hand and tilting her head back to remind me how to pet her.
When I try to get things done, I am usually distracted by my kids. They are two girls ages 3 & 5, and lately, they need to be separated quite a bit. Half of the time, they are fighting, and the other half, they are loving each other to death…it is always an adventure!
The phone! It seems to always be ringing in the middle of the 9 yr olds math lesson, or when I am trying to feed the baby or when I need to fold the laundry. I wish it was knitting but no that has to wait until all the wee ones are in bed.
I am a middle school teacher and I stay focused until I switch over to read Loopy Ewe’s blog, ravelry, or e-mails pertaining to knitting………….then it gets hard, especially when I am waiting for news about something I really want knitting wise. Bunny
My five year old twin boys, they are loud and noisy and demanding and only in school in the morning!!
Knitting lace is not possible while they are around, good job I love ’em!
I listen to podcasts while I work. I have to constantly make notes of things I have to look up when I have free time on the computer. When I’m not listening, I sometimes catch myself planning my next project.
Blogs. Definitely blogs. It has gotten better as I have moved to Google Reader, but I have to add some of my blogs back in. If they aren’t in my Google Reader then I find that I don’t read them as often anymore.
Obviously, Ravelry and thinking about my next project is always on the list too.
At work, checking the news can distract me. Can’t do Ravelry at work.
At home..definitely Ravelry..and anything calling to me from the stash room or sewing corner!
Lately everything distracts me at work. All the coughs and sneezes are especially distracting. I just want to pass out nose spray and Kleenex and sanitizer.
