Loopy Elf Donna got a new puppy named Lucy. Is she not the cutest thing? She had just been to the vet, so she was exhausted from her big morning out.
She posed:
She checked out Loopy:
And then she zonked out, fast asleep.
Needless to say, all work of any kind stopped while Lucy was visiting. We all stood around and watched her sleep and talked about how darned cute she is.
So this month’s contest question is: What distracts you at work? Whether you work in the house or out of the house, I know there are things that pull you away from what you are intending to do. (Ravelry? I’m talking about you.) What distracts you?
Leave your answer in the comments and we will randomly draw names of winners next week. The prize – $25 Loopy Ewe Gift Certificates, so that you can splurge on some new yarn!
(Speaking of contests, have you clicked “like” to join our Loopy Ewe group on Facebook? We hold 24 Hour Quick Quizzes over there from time to time, with Loopy Ewe Gift Certificates for prizes. Don’t miss out!)

Ravelry and new blog posts!
Ravelry, TLE what’s new page, facebook, email . . . I’m pretty distractable.
I’m retired (and LOVE it!), but Ravelry gets me distracted and I can spend hours on there looking for patterns and reading forums! But I get such great advice and tips! Before you know it the afternoon is gone!
can’t get distracted . i work with 2nd graders.
Ravelry!!!!
The Friends Activities tab on Ravelry – lets me see what my friends are looking at, showing off, thinking of making, admiring, etc…a great way to get a ‘snapshot’ of what’s really current and what’s always popular. And my dear cat, Walter. These are my wonderful distractors, but truly I think I could be distracted my dust motes, when it comes to staying focused on certain tasks.
Blogs and my knitting. *cough* And IM.
LOL.. reading blogs like this, and before I know it, the whole morning has come and gone.. well, at least a few hours.
And looking at new yarns posted…:-)
Blogs! And my “boss,” a 10 month old, is not so tolerant of computer time, alas!
Google reader. And snacking =).
One of my biggest distractions is Loopy Ewe, of course! I have to check in almost every day to see what you and the Loopy elves are up to. Thanks for giving us a peek into the office – and out of the office, at the goings-on in your parking lot. 😉
Ravelry, my knitting, a good book- yeah, I don’t get much work done.
Cats on keyboards!
Audio books distract me. I just love being read to.
My knitting, reading, watching NCIS…
Ravelry and my blog reader, primarily, but occasionally I get hung up on the TV without Pity forums.
They blocked Ravelry where I work….I wonder why???
My feed reader, Ravelry, and emails. It seems that the electronic communications just never stops!
Ravelry and knitting. I’m a stay at home mom, and I’d much rather surf Rav or knit a few rows than do a load of laundry…
I wish I could say Ravelry, but it’s blocked at work – boo. But my distraction is definitely the internet. I’ll look for blogs (like yours!) to read or go window shopping at Etsy.
I’m not disturbed by any distractions from my feline family.. when Mo lays down and stretches in front of the computer screen and pushes what he can off the desk onto the floor, or when Sophie Bear needs some special attention, or when my daughter’s cat Abby jumps onto the back of my chair, it is all calming for me. But when dear daughter comes into the room ,stands next to me and has one of her “other” pet family on her (either her corn snake or her new addition, a desert iguana) , it just sort of ruins my concentration, or desire to be in the same room. gotta say that the iguana is cute though. Barb H.
I check all of the my favorite knitting blogs, including the Loopy Ewe, and the gossip sites. Amazon and Etsy are also fabulous for killing time!
the internet is a hugh distraction. I lost my dog yesterday. Cleo a pomerianian was going on 12 and developed pneumonia. She sould not eat in the morning, I took her to the vets and by 10 pm same day she was gone. So I am spending a lot of time on the net looking for a replacement. Life without a dog or knitting just is not enjoyable.
I’m an RN and work in the emergency department, so nothing distracts me at work. I am easily distracted at home, however, by all the knitting I want to do!
What distracts me? My two Labrador Retrievers, now 9 yrs old… my Yellow Lab looked just like Lucy when I got him! Ravelry, Plurk, knitting, going to PT. Job hunting is my job right now.
Well since I am a writer and spend 10+ hours a day at the keyboard, having my knitting taunt me from across the room is just cruel. I tend to leave my yarn and needles scattered around the house. Type 10 pages and I might reward myself with a couple of rows. Of course I have to “pet” the yarn every time I get up.
Definitely Ravelry! Plus all the other yarn/knitting blogs that I keep track of.
Ravelry, basic news sites, my selected set of knit blogs, and then idle Amazon shopping. Danger, Will Robinson!
1. the internet in general
2. knitting blogs
3. ravelry
it would be ravelry, but its blocked, so now i look at this website 🙂
the internet distracts me.
I work from home, so my biggest distraction is my two year old and HER sock obsession. Yes, she has a sock obsession!
Knitting and quilting blogs. They sit there lurking, just waiting for me. 🙂
I get distracted by e-mail from friends and any e-mail about knitting…..
Definitely Ravelry!!! (: And of course, looking at yarn. Then there is pattern searching…..
Embarrassed to say this, but Twitter.
Lucy is adorable and sounds well-behaved for her age. Lovely puppy. Work distractions – email. My workplace is too public for me to be on Ravelry or any other site for longer than 30 seconds. Email I can get away with. the other major distraction – social chit chat.
My iPhone, knitting, and spinning (during my lunch hour).
PUPPY!!!
Actually, that’s also my answer: I work in an animal supplies shop, and people often bring their pets in. So cute puppies (or cute dogs of all ages really) are what distract me at work.
Loopy Updates!
‘Fesses up to Ravelry. I try to limit Ravtime to lunch and breaks in the action, but some of my friends live in my computer, so I enjoy seeing them!
Ravelry of course. However, since I’m supposed to be in front of the classroom, my Rav time is limited.
Ravelry of course. But also knitting podcasts like Sticks & String.
Ravelry!
Knitting, yarn thoughts, kids asking questions. There are many things to pull me away from preparing sermons and studying for my classes, but oh does the thought of knitting and looking through ravelry make me lose my concentration.
I work at home, so knitting and Ravelry tempt me with distraction all the time!
My work blocks all the fun internet sites, and I really have no fun distractions : ( But one of the sweetest distractions are all the cute babies that come in for immunizations. They are usually a lot happier when they come in than when they leave though.
I’m retired, so I get distracted at home-by almost everything: My grandkids, my cat, my computer, the ducks on the lake. Ravelry, Facebook, blogs, the oven, an empty knitting needle(I like to cast on).
The kids and the internet (darn the computer, sitting all bright and shiny on my desk)! Makes it difficult to complete tasks that should only take 20 minutes but end up taking the entire day! Sometimes I wish I were in a nice, quiet office. :O
Alpaca pellets and hay and scooping up their little black beans….haha…
but,
i love ’em……after that…podcasts…oh yes….all thoes wonderful podcasts…
i love them too 🙂
