Hello, Columbus!

DSC00223Last weekend was our twice-a-year fiber industry market, in Columbus, Ohio. I go to these because I want to keep up with what is going on, what is coming up, what is ‘hot’, and what is not! (And of course to pick up some fun new lines for The Loopy Ewe.) Too much info for one post, so I’ll share people photos today, and new product info on Friday. The new things will start arriving in the next couple of weeks, with shipments continuing on into the fall. And did I mention that my “To Knit List” has grown again? No surprise there….

The first night ended with a Ravelry Ice Cream party, serving up delicious Jeni’s Ice Cream to everyone. I have a new favorite ice cream flavor – Salted Caramel. Seriously good. I ran into two fun friends there – Cookie A and Anne Hanson of Knitspot!

Saturday, Sunday and Monday are filled with walking, talking, and ordering. I snuck in a few pictures, with the express permission of the booth owners. (Otherwise, pictures on the floor are taboo.) Designer Laura Nelkin thought the air-conditioning was too high, and bundled up. (Or else she was just showing off as many handknits as she could, in the Schaefer Yarn booth!)

It’s always a pleasure to catch up with the Ravelry folks at these events. They’re on the floor every day, keeping up with trends and checking out what’s new. Here, I snagged a quick photo of Casey and Mary-Heather. I had a meeting with them (and Jess) on Sunday and walked away from it thinking, once again, that they are just the best. Truly.

Why is it that when I hand Loopy over for a photo, people want to kiss him? It’s because he’s so dang cute, I’m sure. (And then they always say, “Aww – I want a Little Loopy!”) Brad and Jeannie from Fiesta/7 Dimes puckered up.

Then Beth Casey from Lorna’s Laces had a little Loopy Love going on.

Nancy and Veronica from Dream in Color love Loopy, too, but just before I snapped the photo, Veronica told Nancy that she was getting too cozy (ok, specifically she said, “Stop touching my b*tt!”) and they were laughing as I took this. Oh, they’ll just love it that I told you that….

More on Friday. But first – the winner of a skein of Wollmeise Lace (from our Mini-Contest last week) is: Beverly W. from Illinois. I’ve emailed you, Beverly. Congratulations!

  1. Oh what fun!! I’m so glad you are my personal shopper, Sheri because you always pick out things I love!!!

  2. looks like a wonderful time and I can’t wait to see what goodies you have coming our way and hopefully a new wheel 🙂 wheeeeeee!!!!!

  3. That looks like lots of fun! As a Columbusian, (hmm, I don’t think that is a word! Maybe Columbusite is what I am looking for? I don’t know but anyway, I live in Columbus 🙂 I have to agree about Jeni’s Salty Caramel ice cream – simply the best!

  4. Em— Yum! That Jeni’s Salty Caramel sounds delicious. Looks like you had fun and sounds like you did some serious shopping. Can’t wait to hear and see what you got. Did Lorna’s have their new yarn Honor there? Saw a picture when they ran the naming contest and it looked like it would be so soft and lovely! A longer To Knit list– No surprise there. I would have been more surprised if you didn’t add a few more things to it!

  5. I like Columbus–it’s a great place, but also it’s on the way to Longaberger Homestead which I really love to visit. The perfect itinerary: Columbus/Granville/Longaberger/Dresden….get lots of baskets for storing yarn.
    Do you go there, too?
Never had Jeni’s Ice Cream, may have to go back!

  6. I’m so glad you had such a good time. It’s great when you share your photos, it’s almost like being there, especially when Loopy is with you. It is funny how everyone seems to love him. I couldn’t find him the other day – he sits with me as I knit- and then discovered that the new kitty StrataCatster had decided she loved him too & was sleeping with him on her cat perch. I tried for a pix but she was too quick for me & took her friend to her little hiding place in the den. I’m actually tempted to get another so she can have her Loopy buddy with her whenever she wants 😀

  7. Glad you’re back safe and that you had fun picking out new fun things for us. I hear you ran into my yarn shop pals/bosses at Malabrigo booth. I was the shop girl while they were gone and am still recouping by sitting in my recliner with my feet up and knitting knitting knitting.

  8. Glad you had fun and thanks for sharing with us. My Loopy sits next to the dining room table and reminds me to get back to fiber asap!
I have given in to my husband’s suggestion and am turning a room into a “dry” (fiber) studio. I have blocking boards over my printmaking table and it is crowded!
    More room = more fiber!

  9. OMG, Sheri. What fun!! And you must be so pooped. First Germany trip then Ohio! Hope you can get some rest in there. Glad you and Lil’ Loopy had such a great time. 🙂
