I couldn’t help it. I needed cupcakes. Or cake and frosting. Or heck, just chocolate brownies and frosting. Reading through every single comment on Wednesday’s blog post made me hungry hungry hungry for it. I’d say the most common “favorite” was carrot or spice cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. (Mmmm, cream cheese frosting.) But many of you like plain ‘ol flavors, too. Nothing wrong with that! My favorite cupcake at The Cupcakery in St. Louis is the Peanut Butter one. (Chocolate cake, peanut butter frosting.) After reading all of your comments, I did a Google search for peanut butter frosting, used my favorite brownie mix, and whipped these up. Then I sent a batch of them to work with Paul and brought the rest of them in to Loopy Central this morning so that I wouldn’t eat them. (Of course I had one two last night. That took care of the craving.) Did anyone else find themselves baking or buying cupcakes this week?
Peanut Butter Frosting (from allrecipes.com, with modifications based on some of the reviews. This frosting is way too good.)
1/2 cup butter, softened to room temp
1 heaping cup of creamy peanut butter
2-4 Tbl. milk
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
Mix butter and peanut butter until smooth. Add powedered sugar gradually, beating the whole time. Add vanilla and then the milk as needed (1 Tbl. at a time.) When well mixed, turn up the speed and whip for 3 minutes, until light and fluffy.

Some of you have asked when we’d have the stuffed Loopy sheep back again. The company we get them from discontinued them this summer. (With no warning. FPS.) However, we pleaded with them (and showed them the travels that Loopy has taken) and they agreed that we needed to have them again. Or rather, they agreed that if we purchased a whole BUNCH of them, they’d have them special-made for us. So they are being made as we speak, and we’ll get the batch in again in late Winter/early Spring, just in time for another round of summer travels and such. We miss seeing all of the Loopy guys hanging around here. It will be fun to have them back!
Found another pattern I want to make. It looks like a quick knit. It’s this, by Loopy Groupie Jess. (I can only find the pattern on Ravelry. Sorry about that.) And I’ll make it out of this yarn. I love that yarn. But first I need to finish the second Multnomah, so I’ll be spending time on that this weekend. What will you be spending time on?
Sheri weadded13moresetsofshelveshereatLoopyCentralthisweek.
Lotsofyarnonorder.
I wish that I could reach through the screen and sneak one of those brownies off that plate 😉
My goodness, discontinuing the Little Loopies–the very idea! My guys are really happy to hear that you’re restocking. They always make me smile, even after several months of hanging around!
I was really hoping you would have a recipe to share today, thank you! I would love to make this one, but unfortunately, my oldest son is allergic to peanuts, my husband really needs to lose wait, my youngest son doesn’t like peanut butter (could that be because we never really had it around, since his oldest brother is allergic?). That leaves my middle son, who might eat it?, and me, who would devour it. Yes, I’ve been deprived for years because of this, LOL.
This will be a weekend of resting up for us, I think. I can’t get rid of this wicked cough and my youngest son has a low grade fever, very runny nose, etc, although he did go to school all week. I hope Sheri & the Loopy Elves have a great weekend! 🙂
I MUST get a little Loopy this time, i can’t believe they had discontinued him. I dearly hope you ordered enough to supply all his fans and so he can continue his travels. I plan to get him to the white house, wash. monument, all the historic sites here.
Boy, those brownies look GOOOOOOD. Now I’m hungry. Really hungry.
My dad’s having surgery on Tuesday and he’s staying here in between hospital stays. So I’m super tired. This weekend I’m going to try to rest and I want to finish a 2nd sock I’m almost to the heel on. I’m also working on a Multnomah shawl in Numma Numma Saucy. To make mine larger, I have to have 373 stitches. I need to get skinny so I don’t need so many stitches. But looking at cupcakes and then going after something sweet to eat isn’t going to accomplish that goal. LOL.
Have a great weekend!
Sheri,
Is the manufacturer nuts? How can people live without a little and big loopy. It is amazing how many positions they can get into and all the creative photos people take of their loopy. I know I use them for my avitar on ravelry.
Martha
I can’t wait to order my Loopy next year, knit him his own quad of little red socks and take him with me next summer.
Thank you for the peanut butter frosting receipe!
My Little Loopy is perched on top of my printer facing me. I see him every day. He is the cutest little guy. That frosting – wow- sadly I’m allergic to peanuts and can’t make it. Wish this were not the case. Have a good week-end. We are trying to sell our house. So, for me every day means clean, clean and clean. I do knit in between.
Our friend the Tasty-Kake distributor dropped off several large boxes of cupcakes last night just in time for Halloween distribution to trick-or-treaters. We have a nice variety at our house. I am NOT opening the boxes or I will be way too tempted!
This weekend I’m whipping up a quick pair of Clara Parkes’ Maine Morning Mitts — http://www.knittersreview.com/maine_morning_mitts.pdf — for my daughter. It’s not supposed to be 39 degrees and raining down here in SE Pennsylvania at this time of year, for Pete’s sake! I was making her a pair from some sock yarn that was hanging around, but they came out the right size for my big paws, so won’t do the trick for her. The Maine Morning Mitts are to fill in while I get the “official” pair re-started and finally finished.
I’m far too tempted to make the frosting and forgo the brownie baking. Then again, these could be a big hit with my office’s Monday morning staff meeting, and if there was a little frosting accidentally left over… This weekend I’d like to spend time baking, knitting along on my Susan shawl in Sanguine Gryphon Eidos (the Haephestus colorway, a lovely green to match the leaf design in the pattern), and maybe sew up some throw pillow covers for holiday gifts — I’ve kinda given up on knitting gifts, takes me too long and you don’t hear squeals of delight over woolly hats and mitts in May.
Those brownies look amazing! Now I’m craving those and mac and cheese! Comfort food anyone?
This weekend I will be doing some of the usual chores to keep squalor at bay. I’ll be working on a stash-busting stole. I will not turn the heat up to summertime temperatures. I can neither confirm nor deny whether or not I’ll be baking a spice cake…or brownies this weekend.
What I’d like to do this weekend is get down to spinning some of those lovely handpainted rovings I’ve acquired — experiment with the colors. And knit. I’m working on the Traveling Woman Shawl with two skeins of Fleece Artist Casbah Sock in Hemlock II colorway (one skein at a time, please!). I love the colors! And then there’s the washing of the two dogs, and chore stuff…Won’t go into that. I will definitely take time for fiber.
😀 That’s basic sanity stuff!
Cheers!
Oops! The Casbah Sock is Hand Maiden, not Fleece Artist (I know, almost the same thing….)
Oh yay! Im so excited, I cant wait! Thank you!
This weekend I am going to try and organise my downstairs closet that has all my crafting supplies in it! I will be VERY impressed with my self if I manage it, lol
I need to finish a men’s scarf which I’m 1/2 way done on completing. Plus I also need to knit Clue 5 on the Concerto Stole KAL. Then, if I have time (dadgummit, I’ll make time), I really want to start on a vest that I saw this weekend during our Hill Country Yarn Crawl down here in the Austin/San Antonio area. It’s done in Noro Kureyon and I bought a beautiful colorway (fall colors of course) to make it in. Can’t wait to get that on my needles!
I would love to cast on some knitosophy or my casbah this weekend. I also have a book that needs to be read for Thursday. Hmmm. Sheri, you are enabler with yarns, and now sweets!!
Darned near tripped over those shelf delivery men as I was trying to get out of Loopy Central on Thursday!
Boy, I do wish people wouldn’t assume everyone’s on Ravelry. Could Jess front you a picture so us heretics can see too?
Love the yarn! And YAY on more Little Loopies! My Little Loopy needs a sibling, so he tells me. 🙂
I will be watching lots of movies and knitting on my 2nd feather and fan scarf – I am obsessed with that pattern!
Those brownies looked so good.
I can’t wait to make that peanut butter frosting, but I really shouldn’t–maybe I’ll make a 1/2 recipe of it–wonder what it would be like “cold”? kind of like peanut butter fudge? hmmm. This weekend I am determined to finish my Traveling Woman shawl. I have 20 more rows to go. knit on! 🙂
I am spinning yarn for a new shawl/scarf out of some Gale’s Art.
I’m making pumpkin muffins from scratch tomorrow! 🙂 It’s an old family recipe… if you (or anybody else) would like it just email me!
This weekend I will be finishing up the basement remodel by doing some antique/furniture shopping-looking for something-just don’t know what:) In addition to that I have alot of knitting to do. Finishing the girasole-late but done-and starting the shawl, and finishing a couple of hats. It is not going to be pleasant weather, so I should have plenty of time! I will also be shopping for some yarn, with my newly aquired gift certificate! Thank you!
Love that Loopy will be in near the start of lambing season.
I didn’t make cupcakes, I went full out and made cakes! A yellow cake with mandarin oranges & coconut for my husband, and carrot cake with the cream cheese frosting to take to work on Friday for Boss’s Day. Both were a big hit! Will definitely make the brownies with peanut butter frosting soon. Thanks, Sheri!
Thank you for the recipe, yum! I love chocolate and peanut butter. I’m not cooking this week-end,I cooked meals all week and baked loads of goodies. I’ll be getting some knitting time in and some crocheted squares that I’m doing for a sweater.
It was so fun to look at all the Loopy vacation pictures.
Thank you to anyone that voted for my Crab Loupie picture.
I will make good use of my gift certificate.
This weekend I will cast on The Pretty Thing Cowl….in RED!
Oh yum! I may have to see if I have the ingredients for those!
This weekend I’m trying to work on 2 Christmas projects, and dogsit my stepson’s Australian Shepard Punch. She’s a cutie but still a puppy, and is into EVERYTHING!! And she’s almost 70 pounds-all muscle!!!! It’s going to be a fun, but long, few days.
I have to clean the dreaded “spare room”! It contains at least enough yarn for those extra shelves you just got, plus about half a million books, more or less and papers and odds and ends , mores odds than ends, I’ll have to squeeze myself in and work some magic or not…..
I’ll be spending the weekend hopefully finishing a hat knit with Team Spirit in Viking Colors for a Christmas Gift. It’s called the Guageless Hat. Those brownies look off the chain! Unfortunately, I just started Weight Watchers (again), and they look way above my points level.
Glad I have my little loopy (and big loopy). Though brownies look wonderful. I’m working on my sister-in-law shawl (Multnomah) for Christmas this weekend out of Dream in Color.
Loopy Groupie Jess… that couldn’t be me… clicks link… OH CRAP it is me! lol! Glad you like the pattern. Ravelry is the only place it’s hosted. Sorry about that.
out of curiosity, how much is “a bunch”?
I’m working on a pair of Cat Bordhi personal footprint socks. It’s all mindless stockinette, which is exactly what my brain is capable of wrapping itself around today!
I’m so glad that you’ll be getting the big stuffed Loopy back in stock! I don’t think you’ll be stuck with the big order for long!
This weekend I went to Rhinebeck. What fun, how overwhelming, still some great finds! Nice people and nice weather. I was still glad to be home to knit!!!
I was already planning on making brownies with peanut butter frosting this weekend, I’ll have to try your recipe (plus it saves me from having to look for mine)!
Ooh, that’s a lot of peanut butter! I can think of a little gentleman who would be my best friend forever if I made chocolate peanut butter cupcakes.
Actually, I think there’s a recipe in one of the barefoot contessa cookbooks.
13 more sets of shelves!!!! I didn’t realize there was that much room there! Another expansion seems close ????
