In honor of our Third Anniversary Month, I’m doing a special contest blog on three different Mondays in August. Today’s blog starts with a mini photo history of Loopy Central.
We started in a little corner of the basement and this was just going to be a little thing I did “on the side”. It was going to be “on the side” because I already had a fun scrapbooking business that I had been doing for 14 years. After Loopy took off, I retired from the scrapbooking business to put all of my time and effort here, instead. (This is one of the first Knitting Groups to come shop in person! Honestly, our space was not a whole lot bigger than what you see in the photo. I had to move out of the little corner so that they’d have room to move around a wee bit and shop.)
We packed boxes and left them on the porch and in our front hallway for the mailman.
Soon we had to expand the shelves into the rest of our basement, to fit more yarn and accessories in.
Then we gave up and moved it out of the house and into our own space.
After a year in the new space, we added the space next to ours so that we could double the size again.
Since we still have plenty of room to add more shelves in our current space, I’m hoping we won’t have to expand any more! (And I have no desire to get to the “warehouse” size. I want to work in a colorful, fun, inspiring-looking shop. I love walking into Loopy Central every morning. It’s bright and cheerful and happy here!)

Oh wow – Almost 1600 responses to this week’s question! I believe I first heard of Loopy Ewe when I Googled “sock yarn” one day when I first started knitting socks and of course Loopy Ewe popped up! I remember being so impressed with how fast I got that first order(was it really only a little over two years ago?), and I remain impressed today…as well as totally addicted!LOL I think I was a Loopy Groupie the first month…shhhh – don’t tell my hubby!
I found the Loopy Ewe from Lime and Violet, back when they first started podcasting and you were in the basement. We love Loopy.
Probably Wendy Knits, I may not remember for sure, but I love shopping here. Now if I could only get in the sock club. : )

Can’t remember where I first heard about Loopy Ewe (probably from Google) but I’m so glad I found you. My LYS has a very limited selection of sock yarns so The Loopy Ewe has opened up a whole new world of beautiful sock knitting for me. And it’s so exciting opening up the packages when they arrive – so wonderfully wrapped and with a little treat thrown in for good measure. I’m very happy to be a Loopy Groupie now, and I’m knitting as fast as I can so there’ll be room for more yarn in my stash!
Through the KnitList (maybe?) I honestly don’t remember…I can’t remember not knowing about Loopy!

I had seen links on other websites but didn’t know what type of merchandise you carried until my friend, Ellen, who is always knitting socks with wonderful yarns I haven’t discovered yet, explained that The Loopy Ewe was the site to go to for the best selection of sock yarns available.
I was checking out different online yarn shops, and found a link to The Loopy Ewe. When I brought up your website, I was hooked!! Your website is how I began learning to knit socks. I can hardly wait to see what’s new and read Sheri’s blogs! I am proud to be a Loopy Groupie!

My two college graduates just started their teaching jobs on Tuesday, I must be getting old… my youngest son is a sophomore and is in the Marching Band and on the golf team, did I also tell you that I work 45 hours a week and I am very involved in my church… that is how I found out about your web site.
